7. Only One Thing Is Necessary
The final truth to share comes from the tenth chapter of the Gospel of Luke:
Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.
And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word.
But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? Bid her therefore that she help me.
And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:
But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
Martha was so busy worrying about the things of this life that she missed out on the best things—in this case, spending time with her Lord. Mary didn’t miss it.
I know that this book has given you a great deal to worry about and a whole lot to do. Don’t get so caught up in such worries that you miss out on living: “Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof” (Matthew 6:34).
Acknowledgments
The past five years has been an evolving mission. At first, my goal was simply to make certain our government was awake and aware of the threat of financial terrorism. As an investment manager, I watched firsthand as our financial system’s vulnerabilities were exploited by those who meant to do us harm. I wanted reassurance that our federal government was busy at work protecting our interests in this area. Sadly they were not, presumably because they were simply uninformed. So the mission morphed into one of warning and education for our nation’s leadership. My basic premise was that once our government became informed, it would be prepared to act and all would be well. That focus lasted for at least two years. Unfortunately, it became clear that more than ignorance was at work. Politics, worsened by information operations efforts, greed, and outright confusion over a complex topic made it impossible for our government to recognize, let alone properly respond to, this threat. That’s why I wrote Secret Weapon. The American people deserved to know what was really happening, why, and what should be done about it.
As I traveled across the country sharing the reality of the economic war we are in, the mission morphed again. Good people, from all backgrounds and political persuasions, intuitively understood that something was wrong. Our message resonated with them and provided answers they had been seeking. But they needed more. They asked for a game plan for responding individually and collectively. That was the genesis of this book. I must therefore thank the hundreds of groups that let me speak to them and the thousands of people willing to listen. Many of them joined my prayer teams, provided research and contacts, or volunteered to help spread the word.
Ultimately, I believe that spreading the word is a spiritual requirement. Several people I’ve met along the way have likened my quest to that of a watchman as described in Ezekiel 33:6. I’ve felt that, recognizing the powerful leading of the Holy Spirit. The greatest acknowledgment, therefore, must be given to God, Maker of Heaven and Earth (Genesis 1:1), to His only begotten Son, whom He sent in love to save the world (John 3:16), and to the Holy Spirit of promise, sent by the Son (Acts 2:38-39).
Because the number of people to thank is extensive, I am just listing names without title or personal comment. I have grouped them into categories. Some fit into more than one group, so their names may be repeated. They are listed alphabetically by first name for the most part. The list has grown quite a bit since the release of Secret Weapon and continues to grow almost daily.
The Team, Volunteers, and Others Who Played a Part
Even though I was the primary author of the report to the Department of Defense, Secret Weapon, and the book you are now reading, there is a significant team and numerous volunteers who make it possible. Those Who Provided Support, Encouragement, or Prayer

Groups That Invited Me to Speak
In two years, I’ve been honored to speak to more than one hundred groups of all types ranging from twenty people in a book club to five hundred in a large assembly hall. I’ll mention here a few specific groups because of their uniqueness as well as broad categories wherein the various groups are too numerous to individually mention. The first category includes political groups made up of Tea Parties, 9/12 groups, Patriot groups, Eagle Forums, Freedom Forums, Republican Assemblies and Societies, as well as various progressive organizations. It is amazing how our message and concerns have resonated across partisan lines. The more right-leaning groups are very concerned about national defense and protecting our economy. The left-leaning groups are concerned about systemic manipulation and national security as well. It has been interesting connecting with Tea Parties from Florida to California and also groups supporting progressive causes.
Another category of organization that has shown keen interest in our work has been the national security groups. Included in these are the American Legion, Center for Security Policy, Doctors for Disaster Preparedness, Corazon De Leones, Irregular Warfare Symposiums, Oak Initiative, Reserve Officers Associations, West Point Society, and Military Order of World Wars. There are also a variety of government, defense, and intelligence organizations that have had me as a speaker or contributor, formally and informally. These include the DIA, the FBI, MITRE, DARPA, and IARPA, among others.
I’ve been privileged to speak at a variety of institutions of higher learning including Georgetown, Oklahoma Wesleyan University, Austin Peay State University, the Naval War College, George Wythe College, Mercyhurst University, and the Naval Postgraduate School. I’ve addressed finance clubs, TIGER 21, real estate forums, and investment clubs. I’ve also been privileged to be the featured speaker at prestigious charities such as the Salesmanship Club of Dallas and United Way of Palm Beach. I’ve been featured at think tanks like the Heritage Foundation, Christian and Jewish religious groups, Wingmen, and retirement clubs.
Media Willing to Report
