In My Custody Page 14

by Stella Marie Alden

With my palms on his chest, I rotate and squirm, loving how his eyes roll back. He speeds, I meet his tempo, my boobs bouncing. Everything is on fire down there as he bucks and I press.

Suddenly, we roll again and he’s on top. Crazed, I lock my legs behind his back, second orgasm racing to the finish line. When it hits, I scream, the headboard bangs and he shouts. After cumming deep inside me, he drops onto my chest, heart racing to the same beat as mine.

We stay like that for the longest time, coming back to life with tiny caresses of our fingertips which eventually get more serious until we’re going at it again.

I lose count of orgasms after that, but it’s almost dark when we stop what we’re doing to get something to eat.

I bring a couple beers to the bed, along with a plateful of cheese and cold meat. Smiling, he watches me while lying on his back, hands behind his head.

When I place the platter on the bed, he grabs me by the waist, and pulls me into him. “I was such an idiot.”

We haven’t yet talked about logistics and I freeze in the middle of our kiss. “How are we going to do this?”

“What? Make love again? I don’t know. Just give me a few minutes and I’m good to go.”

I hit his chest playfully. “Not that, the long-distance thing.”

“Just kidding. I’ve been talking to my partners. It may take a few months but you’re right. This is the perfect place to raise a family. How many you want?”

“How many what?” I laugh at his stupid grin.

  “Kids.”

“I don’t know. Two, maybe three?”

“Best we get some more practice, then.” His kiss holds so much warmth, so much promise, I think I may have died and gone to heaven.

Maybe there is a God that gives a shit.

  Chapter 22

  Andy

Three months ago, if you told me I’d be moving to North Carolina and proposing to a country musician, I’d have doubled over in laughter. However, today I’m in a big open room decked out in balloons, crepe paper, and long folding tables covered with potluck.

I tug at my tie and scratch at my trimmed beard. “Hey Mom, you sure everything is ready?”

In a new flowered dress and short hairdo, she grins and kisses my cheek. “That’s the third time you’ve asked in about that many minutes. Relax, son.”

I hope Sienna will like the old firehouse. I could’ve flown her to Paris or any place in the world but deep in my heart, I know she’ll love this best.

“She’s here, she’s here.” My three-year-old niece runs across the floor and into my arms. After swinging her in circles, I place her in the kitchen with the other giggling children.

Hopefully, me and Sienna will have one of our own soon. The thought of my lady ripe with my child makes me grin as I race to the front window. Melanie’s job was to pick up Sienna, supposedly for a Sunday School Puppet show. It was damned hard to keep a whole town of busy-bodies from spilling the beans.

I smile at Mrs. Wilson, my third-grade teacher and Mrs. Martin, the woman who tried to teach me to play the trumpet. “Cross your fingers, pretty ladies. It’s almost time.”

Blushing, they show me their hands, and duck behind a table.

Outside, heels sound on the old wooden stairs, two women laugh, and my sister-in-law says, “The children are so excited to do this for you.”

“That is so sweet.” Sienna has no idea what’s about to go down.

  The door rattles, opens, and…

“SURPRISE!” Almost a hundred people shout at once.

I rush over to my love and kiss her open mouth, closed.

“What? What is this, Andy?” When her shock lessons, a grin spreads across her face. She waves to CJ, Mel, Jack, and all the rest.

Before I lose my nerve, I drop onto one knee in front of everyone. My hand shakes a little as I pull the fuzzy box from my pocket. Holding my breath, I place it in her hand and pray I got it right.

“Luv.” I stop to clear my throat and find the right words. “I love you more than anything. Hell, I’d even take another bullet for you.”

“Please don’t.” She giggles, cheeks all red and beautiful as hell which gives me courage to go on.

“Promise to keep me mindful of what really matters for the rest of my life. Will you marry me? Have my children? Grow old together?”

Her smile brightens up the whole room, maybe the whole state of North Carolina, as she pulls me to my feet. “Of course, I will.”

The room explodes with applause and when she opens the box, she gasps. A huge translucent opal sparkles under the florescent lights.

As she slides it on her finger, adoring eyes stay glued to mine. “Baby, it’s perfect.”

Behind my back, I give Mel a thumbs-up. At first, I was going to buy a flashy diamond but when my sister-in-law pointed out other options, I saw the light. Sienna isn’t impressed by money.

While the ladies gather around to ooh and ahh over the ring, I find the cooler and crack open a beer. They’ll be champagne later but after those harrowing moments, I figure I deserve something right now.

The guys slap me on the back and CJ clinks his beer bottle to mine. “Congrats, bro. You did it.”

I think back to when he told me about that video of Sienna singing on Facebook and how it made me realize she loved me. “I would’ve blown it without you.”

“Damn right you would’ve.” He takes a gulp of beer and grins. “Why an opal?”

  “All about the money.”

“What? We’re in trouble?” His brows shoot up and I shake my head, laughing. He should know me better.

“Relax, we got plenty. It’s Sienna. She doesn’t like to flaunt my wealth.” I use air quotes to emphasize those are her words then take him aside to a corner of the room.

“We haven’t told anyone yet, but I’m opening a branch of my business in Asheville. It’s a non-profit for foster kids. We’re going to insist that people are held accountable and take the abusive parents along with their states to court. We’re going to make a difference.”

“Count me in as an investor.”

  “Already did.”

CJ searches the room, then his face warms when his gaze rests on his wife and kids. “I got news, too.”

“Yeah, what’s that? Having another baby?” I clink his bottle again, finish off my brew, then toss the bottle in the recycle bin. My brother does the same and burps.

He laughs off my disgust then gets to the point. “The Panthers have asked me to coach. After the season is done, we’re moving home, too.”

Too happy for words, I turn and hug my baby brother. With all the news about football players and brain trauma, he’s leaving the field none too soon.

“Mel’s already got a plot of land picked out for our house.” He hugs his wife as she approaches with Sienna, holding the older of my nieces.

The three-year-old reaches her pudgy arms to her daddy who places loud kisses on her tummy until she giggles. Soon after, the preacher says grace and we all party until late. Then, when everyone’s gone home, I pull my lovely lady aside so I can kiss her the way I’ve been wanting since giving her the ring.

“Do you really like the opal?” I know she does but want to hear her say it again.

She holds it up to the streetlamp. “It’s perfect.”

“You’re perfect, luv, you really are. I can’t believe you’re mine. I love you so much.”

“I love you, too.” A bit tipsy, she giggles, and whispers into my ear, “Do you want to fuck me because I really do you.”

Chuckling, I take her home and do just that.

  The End

  From the author:

  Hi Lovely Reader,

First, let me thank you for buying my books. It’s because of you, I write. I love Zumba, yoga, my two grown daughters, my two cats, and of course, my husband-editor! (not in that order, LOL) I hate cleaning, grocery shopping, and my bathroom scale.

And I absolutely love hearing from you:<

It comes off over his head and he smirks arrogantly when my mouth drops open. Sure, I've seen plenty of athletes but this guy is by far, the most ripped. Pressing my lips together, I grab a drink from my water bottle, and pretend not to notice. That gorgeous pack of abs is just damaged tissue, nothing more.

  Year of our Lord 1276

“By God, drag her down here! Naked if you must! Bread and water from now to eternity if you can’t!” Sir Marcus Blackwell slammed his fist on the well-worn table and the sound echoed back from every direction. Of all the bad luck. Forced into marriage with a foul-mouthed, murderous widow.

He clenched his teeth when the next bout of high-pitched screams and curses exploded from the floor above. Crashes, clanging, and banging followed. He cringed as the Lady Ann’s strident screaming rang throughout the stone manor and probably into the courtyard.

“He can’t steal my lands this easily. He’ll live just long enough to rue this day. I shall never, ever, turn my people over to a blood-thirsty, gold-grabbing beast. I’d rather be cursed to hell. Nay, verily, I’d rather marry the devil himself, than see myself married to him.”

Beast? He’d strangle the minstrel who’d taken his sword’s odious name and baptized him with it, instead. He was a holy crusader, deserving of respect, not an animal. Crossing himself while counting to ten, he paced the dark hall lit by a single weak torch. Shadows danced across dark tapestries, beyond a hearth the size of two horses, and over enough tables to feed a small army. Thatch crunched under his boots, releasing a perfume of lavender and grasses. He stopped for a respite of blessed silence. What in God’s creation have I stepped into?

“What? Is the darkness back? Is Olivia here?" She reached blindly over the driftwood side-table and on the floor beside the bed. "Where’re my glasses?”

“No. It’s not the darkness.” His hands shook when he placed her glasses on her nose. Her big brown eyes focused on him behind the thick lenses. Overwhelmed, he choked out the words he’d longed to say for years. “I want you for my mate.”

“What?" Her eyes went huge. She shuffled to a sitting position with her back pressed tightly against the headboard.

Holy Goddess. Her body said yes and her mouth said no. Olivia had to be wrong. Zoe was perfectly trained for the ritual about to unfold.

He placed his hand on her bare thigh, just below where her shorts ended, and allowed his heat and energy to infuse her. She squirmed, pulling her legs together. So nice. So sweet. He added tiny jolts of electricity as he stroked her bare leg and chuckled at her responsiveness. Her full lips parted and her gaze went to his mouth.

  Not yet, Angel.

“I’ve been looking for you for a lifetime.” He touched a lock of her dark hair. “You’re my hope. My salvation.”

“I can’t be.” Her soft breath hit his nostrils with a scent that spoke of sex.

His brothers had warned him about the hot and the cold of the mating ritual, but how could anyone truly be prepared?

“You’re not already mated?” He held his breath.

She shook her head and her lips parted.

He exhaled. “You’ll be mine, now. Forever.”
