The edge of life: Official cover - coming soon Page 14

by Rachael Tonks

“Good girl,” I whisper. “Where do you want me to touch you?” I ask, but I didn’t need to. I know exactly what she wants.

“Touch me, please,” she begs as my touch lingers on her inner thighs. She guides my hand farther down and between her legs. I run my fingers between her folds and find her pussy so wet and waiting. I flick my finger across her swollen clit, over and over.

“I want to hear you screaming my goddamn name,” I growl as I watch her moving against my fingers. I slip inside her, pumping vigorously as my thumb circles her clit.

“Ryder,” she breathes. “Ahhhh, fuck,” she cries as I continue to work her into a frenzy. Her hands work and grab at my hair. Her body shudders against me, her back arching, and her moans intensify.

“So. Fucking. Close,” she cries out. I continue to work her, sliding down the bed to position myself between her legs. If she’s going to come, I want to taste it. I press my tongue down, licking and tasting her as her legs begin to shake, and she screams out my name as she comes apart around me.

  “Jesus,” she breathes.

I step back, taking in what little I can see in the dull light. She slowly leans up on her elbows, one finger tracing her bottom lip.

“Your turn,” I growl, reaching for her and grabbing her hair at the back of her head. I drag her toward my straining cock, and she happily reaches for the waistband. Freeing me, she positions herself on the end of the bed, pushing my pants down as far as they will go. Her hand runs up my legs, cupping my balls. Her hand works the length of my cock, my back arching, willing for her to get me close to the edge. The edge I want to fucking take a nosedive over.

“Suck it for me, baby,” I prompt her. She slows the rhythm of her hand job, her head teetering precariously close. I can sense she’s nervous, and for all her bravado, it’s obvious she’s not that sexually experienced.

I make my request more of a demand as I grab the back of her head, forcing her mouth against my cock. I watch as she clutches her eyes shut, but she takes me in, the gag reflex kicking in as I thrust myself deeper into her mouth.

“Keep going,” I groan as she grabs my ass, steadying herself on the edge of the bed. I thrust relentlessly, but it’s not fucking working. I can’t help but look at her, and it’s not the face I need to see. I quickly step back, putting space between us. Think, Ryder, think. My dick softens, and the frustration bubbles inside like a damn volcano.

“Hands and knees, now,” I growl, fisting my cock and willing it to come back to life. She quickly scrambles on the bed, spreading her legs wide as she waits for me. I can see it all. Her pretty fucking pussy, and from this angle, I can almost close my eyes and convince my dick it’s the girl he really wants to fuck. I walk around the bed, grab a condom, and tear it open with my teeth. I grab her thighs, positioning her just where I need her. She’s the perfect height and position, and I hold my cock, running it between her folds. She’s so damn wet, practically begging for my cock. I quickly roll on the rubber before I thrust inside, filling her tight pussy completely. Reaching forward, I wrap my hand around her long red hair, gripping it tightly and pulling it toward me. Her head tilts back, and I can hear her groans.

“So fucking perfect,” I growl, increasing the speed. I push deeper and deeper, needing to find my release so I can get the hell out of here. Closing my eyes, I grasp her hair tighter, the image of Kailee plays over and over in my mind as I pump into her. I need more; this is good but not good enough. I feel a million miles away from reaching my release. I slide out of her, working my cock through her folds, hitting her clit. She presses back, her pussy closer, and it suddenly hits me.

“Hold on, this ain’t gonna be pretty,” I warn. One hand on each cheek of her ass, I pull it open. Her ass is so fucking tight, just what I need. I gather all the spit I can, spitting directly on the entrance to her ass. She retracts, tightening her butt cheeks. Her whole body stiffens in reaction.

“Relax for me, baby.” I run my finger over her clit. I need to soothe her if I’m going to get my way. As soon as I begin to work her clit in a circular motion, she relaxes, moving against me. I work her clit with my right hand, all while lining my cock up to her entrance. In one swift movement, I push against her, and as soon as the tip is in, I thrust inside her with aggression. She lets out a yelp, but I’m in too deep to stop. I hammer into her, and her yelps turn into cries of pleasure.

“Fuck, you feel so good,” I breathe out. Finally, the penetration gives me the stimulation I’ve been craving.

“Please,” she begs, and I can tell she’s close. Her pleas drive me closer to the edge, and I work her frantically. I pull her body against my thrusts. Within seconds, I feel the pressure building, my body so fucking ready for this release. My thrusts become jerkier, and the girl screaming out my name as she rides through her own orgasm is just what I need to send me straight over the edge. My chest heaves as every muscle in my body tightens, ready for the impending spasm. I grunt loudly as I explode inside her, my cock swelling as I come hard and with force. I pull out, stepping back from her, my legs weak and my body unsteady. Giving myself a few seconds for the haze to clear, I tear off the condom and throw it in the trash.

Retrieving my stuff, I quickly dress, ready to get my lame ass outta there. There’s nothing good to come of staying any longer, and by the silence, I guess she knows the score. My eyes flit over to her collapsed on the bed; her eyes are following my every move.

“Are you heading out, or do you want to grab a drink at the bar?” she asks tentatively, her quavering voice is barely a whisper.

“I got what I came for; no need to stick around now, is there?”

“That’s a shame,” she throws back with a side smile. But I have nothing to give back. I can’t muster a smile, and honestly, I don’t fucking want to. I thought that coming here and getting rid of all my pent-up sexual frustration would help. But it hasn’t. It’s only made me realize that if I can’t have her, I don’t want anyone else.

I have to do something about the way I feel before it drives me crazy. I just have to be prepared to deal with the motherfucking consequences.

  Kailee

This past week has been amazing. I don’t know what I would do without Jax. Every day, we grow closer, and the more time I spend with him, the more I want to be around him. School has been, well, school. I’ve been the talk of the damn place since the incident with hothead Ryder and poor Colton. He came to school with his arm in a cast. Apparently, Ryder had broken it in two places. Yeah, Colton was a total ass, but he didn’t deserve to have his arm broken. But surprisingly, no one has said a damn word to me. And I know it’s because they fear the twins. Admittedly, deep down, I fear them a little too. Well, at least Ryder. He’s explosive and unpredictable. Jax’s hardened demeanor softens around me, and little by little, I’m starting to see a different side of him. One that is vulnerable, seeded from the things he told me happened to him as a child. My heart aches for him; the pain in his heart is obvious when we discuss his childhood. I thank my lucky stars every day that I had such a good mom. And well, Dad too, or at least I thought so.

I still haven’t heard from him. I get messages secondhand from Eric, who is barely around, and when he is, I’m told to make myself scarce. But that suits me fine. Gives me more of a reason to spend time with Jax. He’s just been so sweet to me. Taking me bowling, buying me lunch, and just generally being super affectionate. Luckily, Ryder has kept his distance. He confuses me in more ways than I can even begin to understand. He’s training for the fight he has on the night before my eighteenth birthday. Jax will be there, and he suggested I should go, but Ryder quickly dismissed it, saying it wasn’t the kinda place a girl like me should ever go.

I’m so glad it’s the end of yet another school day.

“So we’re on the countdown to your birthday,” shrieks Lina with excitement. “We totally need to make a plan of what we want to do.”

“I dunno, guys; I don’t want to make a fuss. It’s just anot
her birthday.” I shrug as we make our way out of school and across the parking lot.

“Uh, excuuuusssseee me,” Cady says dramatically. “It’s your eighteenth birthday.” She draws out the words, her eyes wide and fixed right on me. “We have to do something.”

  “Like what?”

“Like maybe a pamper day. I’ll do your nails and make ‘em look real pretty. And Lina, well, she can give you an awesome facial. Tell her about that face mask you bought the other day…” Her words trail off, and the two of them get lost in a conversation about all things girly. I nod and smile at the right time, but my mind is elsewhere.

“So you’re up for it?” Lina asks. Her hand lands on my arm, pulling me to a stop.

“Sure,” I say with a genuine smile. “I wouldn’t miss the chance to spend some time with my girls.”

“Great,” Lina screeches, clapping her hands together. “I’ll clear it with Mom, but I just know she’ll be fine with it. Ohh,” she yelps, “you should totally stay over, and we can make it a real celebration. I might even see if I can sneak some of that delicious wine Mom stashes down in her wine cellar.”

“Yes,” Cady squeals, “this is going to be the best sleepover slash birthday get-together, like ever!”

I laugh at them; they’re so damn excited, and to me, it’s just another birthday. Another reminder that Mom is not here to make a fuss like she used to. But they mean well. And I’m thankful every day that I have such wonderful friends. I’m interrupted from my thoughts as my phone buzzes inside my pocket. I pull it out, smiling when I see Jax’s name on the screen.

“Hey.” I smile down the phone. “I’m on my way,” I say, nodding at the girls. I start to walk quickly toward the entrance, making my way out to his usual parking spot a short distance outside the school.

“Hey. Listen, Kay, I’m so sorry. I’m caught up on a job, and I’m not gonna be there to pick you up today…”

“That’s okay,” I say while slowing my pace, “I’ll get the bus or a lift, but don’t worry, I’ll figure something out.”

“That’s not necessary.” He chuckles. “Ryder’s coming to get you. Look out for him; he’s on his way.”

“Oh,” I say, coming to a complete standstill while the girls look at me warily.

“What’s wrong, Kailee? Is everything okay?”

“Fine,” I lie. “I’ll look out for him, but you’ll be back soon, right?”

“Shouldn’t be too late.” He sighs. “Look, I gotta go. Catch you later, yeah?”

“Mmmhmm,” I hum down the phone. The phone beeps against my ear, and I look at the screen to see he’s no longer on the line. I sigh heavily, pushing it back into my pocket.

“What’s wrong?” Cady asks with concern lacing her tone.

“Jax can’t come get me; he’s sent his brother instead.” I widen my eyes and twist my mouth with annoyance.

“Oh god.” Lina gasps. “He’s the crazy moody but sexy as hell one, right?” Her lips twitch, and I can see she’s fighting back a smile.

“They’re twins, Lina. Like identical.” I laugh off her ridiculous comment.

“But it’s not all in the looks. It’s the way you carry yourself, how your personality complements your looks. Personally, I think he’s got it all going on. I like my guys strong and brooding.” She swoons, and I tap her playfully on the arm.

“He’s certifiably crazy,” I snap. “You saw what he did to poor Colton.”

“Poor Colton…” she blares. “That guy has had it coming for a long time. He’s nothing but a jumped-up jock,” she bites back, her tone full of anger. It’s no secret that there’s no love lost between the two of them. Colton constantly targeted Lina because she’s loud and quirky, and he gets an obvious kick out of winding her up. But she gives as good as she gets.

“I think I might be Ryder’s new number one fan,” she says lightheartedly, her tongue sticking out from the corner of her mouth.

“Well, I’d better go find my ride home, guys.” I lean into each of them, kissing them lightly on the cheek before racing out of the parking lot and a short walk down the main road. I scan both directions, but there is not a motorcycle in sight. I walk a little farther, keeping my head down, but the rumble of the engine catches my attention. I spot Ryder, speeding in my direction and skidding to a stop beside me. The friction of the tires against the road causes smoke to plume, and his tires to screech. He kicks out his stand, leaning it up at the side of the road.

“You certainly know how to make an entrance, don’t ya?” My voice comes out all a squeak. I lift a brow, crossing my arms over my chest. Why couldn’t he just turn up, no fuss, no drawing attention to himself, instead of this?

He pulls his helmet off, shaking his head as the longer strands fall on his face.

“Nice to see you too.” He grins widely at me. My heart thuds against my chest, and the feeling of confusion floods my mind. Why do I feel like this around him? He’s cold and cruel, but something inside me wants more. More of him.

He stares at me, his helmet tucked under his arm, his ass resting back against the seat.

“You coming then, pip?” he asks, his eyes fixed on me, but I’m confused as hell. I swing around, looking behind me, then turn back to him.

“Are you talking to me?” I ask, holding my palm against my chest.

“Of course.” He laughs a low, gravelly laugh.

“Well, why the hell did you call me pip? Did you confuse me with someone else?”

“That’s not possible,” he says, adjusting his neck and rolling his shoulders. “You were squeaking at me just before, so I decided to call you pip, as in pipsqueak, because you’re small and squeak like a damn mouse.”

  “I do not,” I screech.

“Really,” he says lifting his brow. “I’m pretty sure you just did.” He chuckles again before reaching into the box at the back of the bike. “Time to get going, pip.” He throws the small helmet at me, and I fight back a smile as I catch it clumsily in my hands.

We pull up outside the trailer, my nails digging into Ryder as I cling on for dear life. I’m pretty sure my pounding heart hasn’t stopped since the minute he pulled up at the side of the road. I wait for him to steady the bike before I attempt to step off.

“You can let go now, pip,” he mumbles through the confines of his helmet. I step off, unclipping the buckle and sliding the helmet over my head, trying to straighten my hair.

“I’m pretty sure I bear the scars of those damn fingernails.” He reaches for the hem of his black shirt, pulling it up just enough for me to see his ripped abs and his impressive ink. I bite the corner of my lip as I watch him. It’s like the whole thing is playing out in slow motion.

“Look,” he bellows, snapping me from my thoughts. “You marked me, pip,” he says, pointing at marks down the side of his torso. “You know… you should learn to trust me. No harm will come to you whenever you’re with me.” His tone turns serious.

“It’s everyone else I fear for,” I joke. “But seriously, you broke Colton’s arm. That’s some serious shit, Ryder.” I scorn playfully.

“Who the fuck is Colton?” he asks with a puzzled look on his face.

“The guy from school. The one you had pinned down with his arm behind his back. You know, you might have ruined his football career.”

“Good!” he says smugly. “Stupid fucktard deserved what he got. You know you should never have let that jumped-up prick lay a finger on you.”

“Urggh,” I growl out in frustration. “You just don’t get it, do you?”

“Get what, pip?” he asks, pulling a cig from the packet and placing it between his teeth. He reaches into his inside pocket to retrieve his Zippo. He flicks the lid, running his finger over the spark wheel to light the cigarette.

“You can’t go around breaking people’s arms. It’s not what happens in the real world, Ryder,” I say, throwing my arms into the air.

“Break or be broken, pip. It’s that simple.”

nbsp; “Really?” I say, widening my eyes. I glance over at Eric’s trailer and notice several cars parked out front. Expensive cars.

“I guess my temporary home is out of bounds,” I say, thrusting my thumb over at Eric’s trailer.

“I’ve seen those cars before,” he says with a tilt of his head. “I probably wouldn’t go in there if I were you.”

“Why?” I ask with a gasp. “What’s going on?” Suddenly worried there’s more to this than just visitors.

“It’s business with the money guys. Come to mine.” He walks toward his trailer, and I look back and forth between him and Eric’s trailer. I’m torn. Shit. What do I do? I pull my cell phone from my pocket. That’s what I’ll do. I’ll call Cady or Lina and see if I can hang out at their house or if they want to meet me somewhere. Anywhere other than here. With him. I press the home button to light the screen, but nothing happens. The battery is dead. Dammit.
