On the night the green eyed girl was born she was named after her mother Faith and without a surname from Jan she was to be called Faith Telepathy/society Emerald or Faith Jan Emerald on account of her eyes.
As Faith Jan Emerald is suckling at her Earth mother's teat, Reckwick, out for some tit sucking action of his own, stumbles upon a woman. Her name is Maisie-bell Jones and she has just turned eighteen. After a night on the town, whereby she has imbibed numerous drinks and drugs and having been separated from her friends she falls into the arms of a kindly looking man. He doesn't have the Dizorian complexion, a slightly darker tint to his skin and she notices this along with his teeth. There is something wrong with them. They seem sharper than normal.
She tries to think which particular hallucinogenic is causing this particular hallucination.
She smiles up at him. "Hello there handsome. Don't suppose you could help a lady home?"
"And where exactly is home?" says Reckwick.
"You tell me," Maisie-bell Jones says, giggling into the arms of a monster.
As Faith Junior is detaching from her mother's left breast, Reckwick is hailing a passing cab. And as the little baby with the striking green eyes is being laid down to sleep, Reckwick is unlocking the door to his Dizor apartment, a lavish affair, consisting of three massive bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms, an extra three bathrooms each with toilet, shower and Jacuzzi bathtub facilities and a well decorated living room, which leads through to a kitchen that rivals any to be found in the city's top restaurants.
Jan and Faith live with little Faith Jan Emerald in the city of Ventula, which happens to be the capital of Dizor and also the largest city. It boasts a mass economy with the city’s many bars and eating facilities, not to mention Dizor’s trade in arms and market for newly developed chemicals – some which will be used for recreation in the way of drugs and others which will be used for more scientific purposes.
It is in this city that Reckwick himself lives; when he is in Dizor that is.
Maisie smiles at the surroundings she finds herself in. She has never seen an apartment so expensively decorated and she mentions this to Reckwick. "Your place... It's beautiful."
Reckwick shrugs. He has heard it before, and always by tasteless cunts like these. He will try then to argue that they must have some taste to choose to spend their time with him, yet even that reasoning falls short, especially for what he has in mind.
"So tell me. What have you been celebrating tonight?"
"It's my eighteenth birthday today."
"Ah, a woman."
Reckwick actually prefers them a good bit younger but what the hell, this one will do.
"So tell me," he continues, "would you like to see the bedroom?"
Maisie-bell blushes slightly. She is by no means a virgin but she has only ever been with boys before, never an actual man.
“Hell yeah, I'd love to see it."
Reckwick points towards a room at the far end of the corridor and Maisie obliges by walking in that direction, Reckwick close at her heels. Just as she is about to open the door, Reckwick wraps the chloroform soaked cloth around her mouth and holds on tightly. She struggles and this provides Reckwick with an erection, his first of the evening. He smiles as he releases her and she falls to the ground.
She awakes several minutes later, tied tightly to a table on her front, naked, her legs spread with her ass-hole covered in lubricant. She has a ball gag in her mouth, yet despite this she still makes noises, as if to ask what the hell was going on. Reckwick replies by sticking his cock in her ass-hole and pumping away viciously, until he is spent. As he cums his fantasy dissolves. He looks at the woman tied to the table, can no longer be bothered with the sight of her. All sexual thrill is gone.
Still, there are other thrills, minor perhaps, but fun none the less. He takes his full length sword and rams it as hard as he can up her cum leaking asshole, eliciting such a painful scream his erection comes back in full force. He removes the sword and ignoring the blood he begins hammering away at her asshole again, thrusting in and out, over and over until again a minuscule squirt of semen ejaculates into Maisie. Then he takes the sword and shoves it back up where his cock has just been. It is only at this point that he realises that Maisie is dead.
Reckwick takes a long shower, and then watches some television until he drifts into sleep.
Then he has another go on Maisie, finding her ass to be off no use, but after a few alterations with his sword her pussy gives him all the lubrication he needs.
Finally satisfied for the time being he lays between the silk sheets of his bed and falls into blissful slumber.
The next day he takes Maisie's body and dumps it outside his building, after removing anything of value from her. This includes 89 dizars and some rare metals, the names of which he is still not acquainted with. Then he hails a cab and heads for the Maneverean Quarters, the resting place of Shub Niggurath, where he makes love to the goat type Goddess for several hours.
Two years later and Reckwick once again returns to Dizor. He is hungry and has recently developed a liking for human meat. Shub, his Goddess has invited him previously to a sacrifice on Earth and it has been the living body of a young girl that they have shared amongst them. He had felt honoured to be among Shub and her Brethren, the way he always feels.
Earlier that very day, young Faith Emerald has started at the local primary school nursery, the very primary school that Reckwick is passing at that moment. He stares through the bars of the school yard fence, eyeing up the young girls and boys who play with the enthusiasm of youth, running and shouting as children are want to do.
In the far corner of the yard stands Faith. She is finding life at the nursery a lot of fun, and she is immediately popular with the other girls. Having two mothers, one of whom is from another realm entirely is quite an unusual thing amongst the pupils of Gretyung Primary. Faith is in conversation with another girl, a young brown haired girl called Pauli, yet something makes her look up and across the yard towards Reckwick. She can sense eve - il there, something she cannot put into words, yet the feeling itself is enough. She pulls on Pauli's arm and they go inside.
Reckwick however does not notice the disturbance he has called to young Faith's mind, and instead leans over the railings towards a small girl called Nancy who is playing with a boy called Nero.
"Hey kid. How would ya like some bubble gum?"
Nero looks up as Nancy squints out at him from her left eye.
"Sure. What kind you got?" asks Nero.
"What kind would you like?" offers Reckwick.
"The blue stuff. The stuff that makes your tongue blue."
"Sure. Just come across here and I'll hand you it over."
Nero looks at Nancy who shakes her head. Both are telepathic, yet their skills are still developing; however Nancy tries to force a NO feeling into Nero's head. Nero hesitates slightly before fixing Nancy a glare and walks across to Reckwick who picks him up by the neck and bites into the small boys face.
Nancy screams, alerting the playground monitor who immediately runs across the playground. Reckwick takes another bite out of the boy and tosses him onto Nancy then draws his gun, which he levels at the playground assistant, a young woman in her twenties. The first shot smashes through her eye and she falls to the ground. Reckwick walks away smiling, feeling contentedly full in the stomach region.
Later at the Quarters Shub is less than happy.
“You may be my chosen champion but do not think yourself above my citizens. Were you anyone else I would have you bled to death. But I shall forgive you this time. Do not however in future think you may do as you please in my realm.”
Reckwick bows, yet inwardly he is smiling. He can do what he wants and he knows it.
The crazy Goat bitch is in love with him and she knows it too.
Faith is fifteen the first time she visits Earth. Her mother, Faith Senior, teaches her the secrets of astral travel for her birthday, meaning that she will be
able to make the necessary mixture herself and make the journey alone, should she wish to. The mixture of Earth drugs does not work on Jan and she is jealous, as despite checking with the chemist, and there being other chemicals in the territory market, she has neither bomb nor card to get such a thing. The chemist has retired after his territory card expired, and now practises lobotomies on brothers and sisters who have committed acts of incest, for research grants. So she dutifully waves goodbye to her daughter, promising herself that she will make it for the next year.
Faith Jan Emerald loves Earth. There her natural telepathy plays out differently. She can feel everything anyone around can feel. She cares little for boys instead concerning herself primarily with her expansive gift.
Faith Senior shows her a lighter side of L.A, something other than drugs and guns; shows her the high life. With only a day back a year, sometimes two she can afford to spend what Earth money she has on art films and the theatre and rides on the backs of dolphins.
Faith is sixteen. She sees a baseball match for the first time. It takes her nearly an hour of talking to describe it to Jan.
Faith is seventeen. She sees Carmina Burana, Carl Orff's satanic opera. Faith brings back literature on Pan and Athena. The Anti-Christ side of the mythology is ignored as Faith Emerald says she can see through Christianity. She now hungers to understand Earth and it's ways and history, yet she is Dizorian born and bred; only born to a traveller.
A new gene pool has been created.
Faith first craves oranges at five although she does not travel to Earth until six. This is the start of her intuitive sense for her Earth mother's world, and as it develops her mother's are amazed and awed by it. She knows about all about every variation of the spiritual matrix which folds and weaves between the two dimensions.
She practices earth meditations. On Dizor she is the first practising Buddhist. At seven the authorities find it cute, if a little strange.
At sixteen, Faith is a Wiccan first order witch, with a burning hatred for the Goddess of her home world. She finds herself more and more using the word half to describe the way she feels about her life. Half her life is a whole world away.
At twenty she is educated on most things Earth, as well as Dizorian.
She lives 355 days a year in a violent drug orientated world.
By 10 she has smoked crack.
By 11 she has broken a nose of a passer-by for fun.
From the age of four Jan has schooled her in three forms of hand to hand combat and two types of weapon training, one dealing with swords, staffs, axes and blow darts to name a few.
The other is fire arms training, and by the age of thirteen she is proficient in all five, and could easily work as a bodyguard or contract killer, and destroy men and women twice her size. This is by no means unusual for a girl of her age.
However, it is her Earth studies that move her more.
She seeks Danu, the great good Goddess spirit, and is somewhat surprised.
Her twenty first birthday approaches and she thinks of leaving home and moving to Earth. It is with much glee in her heart, yet tears in her eyes that she says goodbye to her Mothers.
She is to stay in Faith Senior's flat on Earth, and that particular parent will visit every six months or so, with Faith Junior returning to Dizor every two to three months.
Around that time more and more travellers have been settling in Dizor from other realms, and there is talk within the authorities about purity levels and a possible economic crisis.
Something has to be done.
It is a dark night when Faith arrives in Los Angeles. Her mother’s apartment is always the same. She explores again however, as she always does on her arrival, just for fun; sipping some of the gin that has sat for the past twenty or so years and wondering about the telephone, when she realises she really is alone. So she marches out the door and down to the nearest bar.
The barman gives her a funny look when she orders an opiate.
No? No cocaine either? Ah, a dealer...? So she settles for a strange drink made from pears much to the merriment of an old Native American who is polishing off a bottle of Jack Daniels.
"What’s the deal here? What’s so funny?" Faith demands of the man who is to introduce himself as John.
"Your accent is as bad as your guide book. How old are you?"
"How old are you?"
"Old enough to know better. You really want that shit?"
"The coke? Well, It's what my mother’s order."
"Where? No place on the planet got a bar that openly sells coke that ain’t got the cola."
"Just, eh, an exotic place. Far far away, ha ha," Faith tries to hide her seriousness with a laugh, and for the moment John seems placated.
"What age are you?"
"Actually, I’m twenty one today"
"Shit. You look like a virgin too. Shame. Old John. He gotta be in love for them at twenty one. Twenty five though. You got a bigger sister?" John downs the rest of his bourbon not conscious that he has had one of the few conversations about intercourse in Faith's entire life.
She does not take after her mother’s need to kill or her other mother's need to fuck. Instead she wants her own take on things.
Both these things change that night.
As John and Faith walk outside to the car park they see a man leap over the hood of 1920's dodge viper. The man appears terrified for his life and sure enough another two men come chasing after him. John can barely focus he is so drunk so it is down to Faith. She speeds over to the man who is backed into a wall and takes his side.
"What did you do?" Faith asks.
"I borrowed something expensive from them and forgot to put it back."
One of the men pulls out a sword.
"Stay back. You seem kinda weak," Faith says to the man.
The first man charges her and she ducks the sword then in a blindly fast twisting manoeuvre runs him forward onto his own blade. The blade exits his back and the mortally wounded assailant falls flat onto the hilt, pushing the blade through completely. He dies murmuring to himself. The second man spends a few seconds appraising the situation then drops his knuckleduster and runs.
"You just killed that man. Oh shit" stutters Marcus Garvey.
"Well if it’s anything like it is in the opera then I guess this is where you screw the virgin," Faith replies.
She can only just see Marcus in the dim light. He looks mid twenties, his hair long, tied back with a handsome face and a slender shapely body that will fill out with age.
She is instantly smitten. "This is John. He’s staying at mine until he sobers up. What about you?"
"I’m not drunk."
"I’ve got gin?" So Marcus and John end up staying with Faith, one in her spare room and one in her bed. John, the next morning, cooks a sober breakfast. "You’re an empath, ain’t ya?" he asks Faith.
"Yes. I feel you in my heart."
"But not like Marcus. You really feel him, huh?"
"He doesn’t have that strange feeling. I can’t place it, but it kind of makes me want to stay with it and cry."
"It’s my pain. The pain of losing someone."
"Who did you lose?" asks Faith
"Every woman I ever loved. So don’t tempt me," replies John with a smile.
Faith laughs.
It has been a hellish day all round. Her mother is coming to visit. Back on Dizor, people still talk about the traveller, the one who isn’t really part of them, doesn’t belong, her strange daughter gone to another dimension. Jan tries to ignore this, tells Faith it's just gossip, however for the first time Faith feels uncertain as she walks the streets of this realm.
She works for the library. That very day she is accused of printing strange presses. She had merely made a manual on homoeopathic therapies. As she walks back from work she thinks about her imminent journey back to her home dimension and to her daughter.
She hears footsteps fall in behind her and a voice. "Excuse me, I’m from Earth," the vo
ice says. Faith turns around. She has met a few new travellers who have chosen Dizor as their permanent address and she finds it oddly satisfying that people choose to speak to her.
"Is there anything I can help you with?" she asks.
The knife feels heavy as it rests in her rib cage. She tries to turn back around and keep walking, tries to ignore the monstrosity in front of her, yet a strong hand grabs her, pulls her back.
"No, you can’t help me. You're an embarrassment to Dizor. May you rest in painful slumber."
The wound does not really hurt. She mostly feels tired.
She manages to utter a dry moan before she dies.
Reckwick looks down with pride.
The pain in Jan’s head at that moment is indescribable. It is as if she can feel the life draining from her, yet it is not her, it is her lover and she fights hard against it as she quickly moves for the hallway, cleaver in hand and is out the door in seconds.
She finds Faith Senior not far from the house. People have gathered a few feet away from the corpse and there are whisperings about it being a "Government job." and "Purity levels".
In her rage Jan slashes at the first figure she comes across, a man who stands smiling at the death of the “outsider”. The man tries to fight back, but his overweight form is no match for Jan's cold steel and soon his body too lies on the cold ground beneath.
Minutes later two men in grey suites grab Jan by the arms and force her into a green car. Jan sits with tears on her cheeks. The men ask about her daughter and Jan tells them she is away, she has had the opportunity to travel.
The men suggest that maybe she doesn't come back.
Around those moments, back on Earth, John continues with his reading. He and the green eyed girl have been comparing abilities, and she has asked how far his awareness extends; more a challenge really than a question. It has been a while since he has read the nature of other realms, yet she is his link to this place, to the people she asks about, and he finds this to be unlike those other readings, it is not his own psychic range that is required but the manipulation of hers; it is a matter of applying his principles of clairvoyance to a foreign mind, tuning in to receive the necessary information then reinterpreting it back to her. Like a caller on a radio chat show, listening to his voice through the quite buzz of reduced static, he notices the time delay, and uses it to attempt authenticity.
