She guarded their door with pride. Her fatigue had been burned off by Sebena’s touch and with her family safe and taken care of she was ready for this new phase of her life.

When a wave of power passed over her, she stood taller. The pleasure that the Avatars were sharing would benefit anyone who was close enough. Karri could feel herself getting stronger, taller and the bruises on her face no longer ached.

It had been shocking to watch her uncle’s head explode, but she realized now that the death her brother had experienced years earlier had been swift and merciful. He had met the planet and burst into flame, without the agony of a slow death.

Karri lifted her pad and created sketches of clothing and hairstyles that would flatter Avatar Sebena and her lovely and exotic hair. If she was to be the high priestess, Karri was going to make sure that her Avatar was impeccably presented at all times. The seamstresses might hate her, but she was going to make sure that every thread was just so for her new mistress.

The moment that Zeering had offered her sisters’ dowries, the Althip clan had irrevocably been made loyal to the Avatars. To be able to marry above their bloodlines was an option that none of her sisters had ever imagined. They may be worker class, but with their attachment to the temple, the Althips now had a social standing that would allow them options.

The speed with which the Avatars had moved to save Karri’s life also warmed her when she remembered it. No matter what others thought about the aliens in their midst, Karri knew one thing. Sebena and Issul would always try to do what was best for the population at large. It was a good focus to have in creatures that could literally move the ground under your feet.

Another wave of power washed over her and Karri laughed. The Avatars were a good match and it seemed they were going to be proving it all day. That was fine, the high priestess would be standing guard, keeping them safe in their distraction.

Something told Karri that it was going to be a full-time occupation for quite a while.

  About the Author

Viola Grace was born in Manitoba, Canada where she still resides today. She really likes it there. She has no pets and can barely keep sea monkeys alive for a reasonable amount of time. Her line of day job tends to be analytical which leaves her mind hopping to weave stories. No co-worker is safe from her character analysis. In keeping with busy hands are happy hands, her hobbies have included cross-stitch, needlepoint, quilting, costuming, cake decorating, baking, cooking, metal work, beading, sculpting, painting, doll making, henna tattoos, chain mail, and a few others that have been forgotten. It is quite often that these hobbies make their way into her tales.

Viola’s fetishes include boots and corsetry, and her greatest weakness is her uncontrollable blush. Her writing actively pursues the Happily Ever After that so rarely occurs in nature. It is an admirable thing and something that we should all strive for. To find one that we truly like, as well as love.
