Scarless & Sacred (The Chicago War #3)
Page 19
“Fucking hell,” Theo groaned into her mouth.
Evelina sighed when his hands skimmed around to her backside and he grabbed tight. The lace of her panties covered his fingertips as he slid his hands under to feel more of her. Theo shuddered when Evelina drove her hands under his belt and pulled at his shirt, tugging the material out of his pants.
“Not the right place at all,” Theo told her.
She tossed a look over his shoulder. “We’re not the only stupid ones, apparently.”
“I don’t like fast, Eve.”
“What about fast and hard, Theo?”
Christ.
Evelina canted her hips forward, allowing him to drive his erection into her pelvis. With the taste of her flavored lip balm still edging at the corners of his mouth, Theo gave into the urge that demanded he find more of that taste. Kissing Evelina harder until she was begging for a breath, he yanked her away from the washer and turned her around fast.
Before either of them had even blinked, he had Evelina sitting up on the small counter. She opened her legs for him instantly, not even waiting to be told. The action drove her dress higher, flashing the black lace under her silver dress.
“Fuck,” Theo growled as he bunched her dress around her hips. “Do you always wear this kind of pretty, delicate shit under your clothes?”
“I was going for sexy, not pretty.”
“Oh, it’s sexy.”
So sexy.
Theo stroked his palm over her sex before tapping his fingers down right over the spot where her clit was covered with lace. Evelina’s sharp gasp was swallowed by Theo’s mouth catching her sounds. He’d quickly learned that he enjoyed her sounds, but he did not want to be interrupted by the couple next door, or the people upstairs.
“Quiet,” he warned.
Evelina nodded. “I will.”
“Make sure of it.”
“Can you stop talking, Theo? The washer only has another few minutes on spin before it’s finished again.”
“Cute. Ass up, Eve.”
She did as he demanded. Theo hooked his fingers around the hem of her panties and yanked, pulling them down over her thighs and legs easily until the scrap of fabric fell to the floor. It took him all of thirty seconds to find the damned condom in his wallet and then shove his pants down just far enough to get his cock freed from his boxer-briefs.
Evelina reached out and stroked the head of his dick with the tips of her fingers. Then, she let her fingernails drive down the side of his shaft. It was enough to send a wicked cascade of shocks straight down his spine.
“Can I?” she asked, reaching for the condom.
Theo hesitated. “I usually do it, Eve.”
“Why?”
She’d always given him the truth.
“Because I don’t trust anyone.”
Especially not women who might have ulterior motives. But he handed the condom over to Evelina without a worry. She tore open the package and slid the latex down his length with a slowness that could have killed him. She took her time to squeeze the base of his cock hard as her other hand slipped beneath his pants to find his balls.
“Jesus, Eve, I thought you wanted fast.”
“I do.”
“Then stop that.”
Evelina grinned. “You like it.”
“Yes, but then I’ll put you on your knees, make you suck my dick, and you won’t get what you want from this when you leave this room with my come down your throat, and nothing more.”
Evelina let his balls go, fisted the bottom of his shirt, and yanked him closer. “Don’t be an asshole, Theo.”
“Then shut up and let me fuck you, Eve.”
Her hand smacked his chest hard. Her gaze narrowed and her lips pursed. Theo had all he could do right then to stop himself from pulling her off the table and making her get on her knees so he could fuck her mouth. He was pretty sure watching Evelina sucking him off while she was in a mood would be one hell of a beautiful sight.
Instead, he teased her pussy with two fingers, stroking her slit over and over until her wetness was smeared all over his digits and she was shaking. Evelina looked damn good when she was trembling all over, too.
“God, Theo.”
Theo laughed under his breath. “Do you know how fucking hot you look when you’re pissed off, babe? It makes me want to stick my cock in your mouth and give you something to be really pissed off about. You wonder why I get you all worked up by calling you a princess? There’s why, Eve. Nothing fucking hotter.”
Evelina sucked in a harsh breath. “Jesus. Your mouth, I swear.”
“You like it.”
“I do,” she mumbled when he stroked her slit again.
“We just don’t have the time.”
“No.”
Evelina’s hands found Theo’s shoulders as he drew her ass to the very edge of the counter. The head of his cock pressed at her slit, the urge to slam as deep and as hard into her depths as he could thrummed hot and fast into his bloodstream.
“Don’t make a sound, Eve.”
“Then keep me quiet, Theo.”
His fingers dug deeper into her thigh, giving her a shock of pain as he slammed into her sex. The first seconds of entering Evelina was bliss for Theo. Even with the condom on, dulling some of the sensation, he could still feel the heat of her pussy surrounding his cock as her inner walls hugged every fucking inch of him tight.
Evelina’s mouth popped open, a cry right on the tip of her tongue. Before she could get it out, Theo reached up and covered her mouth with his palm. He felt her breath puff against his hand in a huff as her tongue stuck out to taste his skin.
“Fuck,” Theo hissed, drawing out until only the tip of his dick was inside her sex.
Evelina bit his hand just hard enough for it to sting. Theo didn’t move his hand off her mouth. But he watched the desire darken her eyes, and the way her cheeks curved with a smirk beneath his hand.
“You good?” he asked.
She gave him a single nod.
That was all Theo needed.
He pushed her back until her head was resting against the wall and he could bury his face into her neck. Quick, hard thrusts drove them both into the wall, but his hand on her shoulders kept them from making any noise. Theo shivered when Evelina’s fingers scored into the back of his neck while her other hand drove up into his hair and pulled hard.
Short, harsh breaths answered each one of his thrusts. The sounds of skin slapping to skin as her hips met his was near drowned by the hum of the washer beginning to finish its final spin cycle. The tips of Evelina’s spiked heels pressed into the small of Theo’s back, urging him on.
He wanted to come. He could feel the way the fast pace and her wandering hands were urging him to a quick finish. But mostly, she needed to get what she wanted from him in this.
“Come on,” Theo said in her ear. “Shake for me. Get me wet with you. Chase it, Eve, and get it for me. You’re goddamn hot when you’re pissed but you look even better when you’re being held down and fucked, babe.”
Evelina whined a sweet sound beneath his hand, her thighs beginning to shake with telltale tremors. She was close, and the harder his thrusts became, the more she rocked into his pace, matching him every step of the way.
“God, you fucking love this,” Theo said, grabbing her face tighter until her skin pinked under his fingertips. “Come for me. Milk me fucking dry, babe.”
His tone had turned rough and gravelly. There was nothing like fucking to make Theo feel alive. It was the only thing that really did that for him now. And strangely, Evelina had been the only female in a long while that made Theo want to even fuck at all.
Evelina bit his hand as the tension in her body released and her scream of pleasure was muffled enough for no one to hear. Theo hissed, the pain of her teeth cutting into his skin was far sharper than before. It was more than enough to send him straight over the edge with her.
With her under his control, the feeling of her body c
Theo held tight to Evelina to keep him upright, dropping his hand from her mouth to grab onto her hips with both hands.
Jesus.
He couldn’t fucking breathe. Evelina touched his jaw with a tender sweep of her fingertips. It was too tender. Too sweet. But she didn’t ask him for a fucking thing, so Theo let her touch him until his own tremors ceased and he could pull away from her without feeling like he was going to topple over. She didn’t ask for him to hold her or snuggle or even have sweet talk after they’d finished. She simply touched him with gentle sweeps of her fingers until they were both settled and calm. Theo didn’t realize that he’d needed what she did until Evelina gave it to him.
Quickly, he stuffed his semi-hard cock still covered in latex down into his trousers and fixed his pants and belt. He found Evelina’s panties on the floor and helped her put them back on before smoothing out her dress and curls.
Evelina still looked like she’d just been handled by someone.
Theo was all over this girl.
Damn.
Why did he like the sight of this so goddamn much?
“God, you look …”
Evelina wet her lips, her gaze dropping. “What?”
“Like you’re trying to kill me. Get down from there,” Theo said, offering Evelina his hand.
She jumped down, her heels clicking softly to the tiled floor.
“Will you be careful?” Evelina asked.
“With what?”
“My father. Tommas, maybe. Everybody, Theo.”
“I still don’t understand what in the hell is going on enough to know who or what I should be careful of, Eve,” he said honestly.
Evelina frowned. “I know.”
“But I’m going to work on figuring it out.”
“Good.”
Theo froze as the sound of a door opening resounded out in the hallway. He’d closed the laundry room door, thankfully, but he was still in a very compromising situation with Evelina just being alone with her in a room.
“Fuck you, Tommy,” Abriella hissed out in the hallway.
“Ella, wait—”
“You can’t fix this. Don’t you get that? So done, Tommy. We are so done.”
Theo caught the sight of Evelina’s flinch, but he stayed quiet.
“Ella … fuck!”
Theo cringed at the sound of Tommas hitting the wall with something. Probably his fist. The sound of running water echoed from the bathroom before the door clicked shut again.
Then, before Theo could try to react and hide, not that there was anywhere he could do that in the laundry room, the door was opened. Evelina turned to stone behind Theo as Tommas stood on the other side with a white facecloth pressed to the corner of his mouth.
Tommas looked the room and Theo over and quickly found Evelina behind him. There was no hiding what it looked like. The goddamn room smelled like their sex, and Theo still had smudges of Evelina’s red lip balm on his mouth and jaw.
No, it was obvious.
Tommas didn’t look like he gave much of a damn.
“Well,” Tommas said, dropping the facecloth to his side. “You were not who I expected to find messing around with Eve, Theo.”
A nasty scratch bled at the corner of Tommas’ mouth.
“You might want to do something about that before you go back upstairs,” Theo said, pointing at the wound.
Tommas nodded. “Working on it. I was looking for another facecloth, actually. I knew this was the laundry room.”
“Tommas,” Evelina started to say.
“Give Abriella some time,” Tommas interjected quietly. “She’s going to need a cool down period before she’ll give anybody a chance to talk, Eve.”
Theo felt like someone had just picked him up and dropped him off in the Twilight Zone.
“Okay,” Evelina said quickly.
Tommas looked Theo over again. “This changes things.”
“Like what?” Theo dared to ask.
The man didn’t answer him.
Instead, Tommas held a hand out to Evelina. “Come, you’ll walk back upstairs with me, Eve. It’ll look better. Theo can make his way up in a bit when some time has passed.”
“Thanks,” Theo said.
Evelina stepped around Theo and took Tommas’ hand. “The idea, right?”
“Right,” Tommas echoed. “Theo, have a good evening.”
What game was this man playing?
Theo didn’t like how it seemed as though Tommas was using Evelina for something. Secrets were not safe in this life as they rarely stayed that way for long. How far could Theo trust Tommas to keep his secrets?
“Are you good?” Tommas asked Theo.
“I don’t know, man. Am I?”
“As long as you play along.”
Well, what tune were they all playing?
“Cat got your tongue, Theo?” Tommas asked when Theo stayed quiet.
“I’m just surprised; that’s all.”
“Don’t be. You know very little about me.”
“I know enough now,” Theo said.
“Theo, Tommas,” Evelina said sharply. “Stop it.”
“Exactly. You know enough to cause harm, Theo.” Tommas waved a finger over Evelina’s head. “As do I.”
“We’re going to have to sit down and chat about this soon, man.”
Theo wanted some answers.
None of this made sense.
Tommas shrugged. “Not tonight.”
CHAPTER FOURTEEN
“Stop for a second,” Tommas said.
His hand on Evelina’s side tightened, keeping her from rounding the last few steps. The muted voices of the guests still echoed down the hallway, leading her to believe that no one had missed their absence.
Thank God.
“What?” Evelina asked.
“Let me see you for a moment before we face everyone again.”
Why did it matter?
Tommas urged her to turn and with his steel-blue gaze that was usually emotionless and detached, he looked her face over. Silently, he pulled out the cloth napkin from his suit pocket and wiped at the edge of Evelina’s mouth. Heat pinked her cheeks.
Tommas chuckled. “Don’t be embarrassed, Eve. It was just a couple of smudges from your red balm, I think. Nothing too noticeable.”
“You noticed.”
“Yes, well, I knew what you were doing. I drew a conclusion. The rest of your face is fine, by the way. Theo only messed your pretty mouth up a bit. I’m sure you didn’t mind.”
Evelina dropped her gaze. “I shouldn’t have done that at all.”
“In this house?” Tommas laughed loudly. “Probably not, Eve. Neither should I, really. We’re in the same boat, you and I. Attached to people we can’t have.”
“I’m not—”
Tommas cocked a brow, quieting Evelina instantly. “You’re going to deny what you were doing when you know exactly what I was doing in the very next room?”
“No.”
“Then what were you going to say, hmm?”
“That I’m not very attached to Theo. We’re not a thing or whatever. Not like you and Abriella are.”
Tommas scoffed. “I beg to differ. Maybe it’s not the same thing, but no woman of your name and status would risk herself the way you did a few minutes ago with a man like Theo DeLuca unless you were looking for something, Eve. It doesn’t have to be love—”
“It’s not.”
Of that, Evelina was most sure.
“—for it to be something,” Tommas finished quieter.
“What is your point, Tommas?”
“Things have a way of growing something bigger, Eve. Be mindful you don’t end up in my situation.”
“I’m not even sure what your situation is.”
“A difficult one.” Tommas offered her an easy smile. “But that isn’t for you to concern yourself with. I did want to ask, though, did you follow me downstairs?”
“No. I wanted a break.”
“Good. I didn’t mean for you to walk in on … that.”
Evelina frowned. “I knew she would be mad.”
“That isn’t what I mean.”
She knew what he meant.
“You’re not mine, Tommas,” Evelina said simply.
Tommas’ smile faded slightly. “I’m not. You’re right.”
“And I don’t expect you to be.”
“Well, thank you for not making a scene and for turning on the washer. I suspect that was your doing, yes?”
Evelina nodded. “It was.”
“As for Theo …”
Shit.
“What about him?”
“Was he the one you went missing with last week?” Tommas asked. “Please don’t lie. It won’t make my choices any easier.”
“What choices?”
“Just answer my question.”
Evelina blew out a quiet huff. “Yes.”
“And the mark I found. Is that his, too?”
“Yes.”
“And there’s no other man you’re involved with?”
“No!”
Tommas’ eyes widened at her outburst. “I just wanted to be sure.”
“I’m not a whore, Tommas. I don’t run around with every man that will have me.”
“I didn’t imply that. But, even if you did, I still wouldn’t use that word to describe your choices. They’re not mine to make or judge you for, Eve.”
“Funny, all the other men in my life wouldn’t say the same thing.”
Tommas shrugged and placed the napkin back in his pocket. “They’re not me.”
Something nagged at Evelina’s thoughts. The words she heard Abriella spit at Tommas rang heavily in the back of her mind. “Abriella said—”
“Nothing,” Tommas interrupted sharply, anger clouding his features. “She said nothing.”
