“Fuck. Your pussy is so tight,” he growled as he pounded into her brutally. She screamed and begged him.
“Harder! Faster! Please Sir don’t stop,” she screamed as her pussy walls rippled around his cock. He pushed her down, holding her in place as he made her take his punishing strokes. She arched her back, her red ass cheeks pressing against him. Her pussy strangled his cock, setting his nerve endings on fire until all he could feel was her pussy and all he could hear were her moans. Her pussy quaked, tightening around his cock as she moaned.
“Daaaxx!” she howled.
“Come for me baby. Fuck yes!” He growled as she came around his cock, her pussy milking his cock. He wasn’t far behind as he exploded in her pussy. He pushed his head against her and took a deep breath. Nora snorted and hiccupped as she tried to catch her breath.
“So much for making dinner, huh?” Nora laughed.
Chapter Seven
They ordered takeout, and Nora chuckled to herself as she put away the things she’d brought out to cook him dinner.
“You’re definitely cooking me dinner another time, just so you know,” Dax said from behind her, startling her.
“I have a feeling it might take a while if you’re here to observe the process.” She laughed.
Dax smirked and rummaged through her refrigerator until he found himself a bottle of wine. The doorbell rang, signaling the arrival of their food. It was pizza, a loaded pie with half topped with the things she liked and as healthy as pizza could get on the other side for him. He picked it up from the delivery man and paid the tab. As he walked back into the house, she walked into the sitting room carrying wine glasses.
“You don’t have to pay for everything. It’s a little weird.” Nora wrinkled her nose.
“I don’t have to, no.” But I want to, was the unspoken implication and she didn’t know how to argue with that. He set down the pizza and poured the wine. As she took the first slice, he broke the silence with the dreaded questions.
“Where did you come from?” he asked.
“Like heaven? Because that’s the best answer I can give to that question.” Nora laughed nervously; the pizza had suddenly lost its appeal.
“Not in the where have you been all my life sense. Celine mentioned you said you’d moved from Chicago. Were you born there? How about family?” Dax asked. The truth was that as the owner of a pretty exclusive security firm he had the resources to find out all he’d wanted to know about her. He’d dug deep and figured out most of it, but he wanted her to trust him with that information. He wanted her to confirm his suspicions. Until then, he had no choice but to sit on that information until she let him know. He wanted very badly to do something and his patience was running thin. He was not going to give her much of a choice soon enough. Not when it was fucking with her this way.
“I was born in Virginia. Moved to Chicago after…for my schooling. Decided a change of scenery was needed so I moved to New York after that.” Nora shrugged and hoped the fact that her story was full of holes wasn’t going to be questioned. Dax was an astute man. He didn’t give in to flights of fancy and he’d hardly believe that she’d chosen to just up and leave because she felt like it. She was too level-headed for that. Yet he merely shot her a disbelieving look and took a sip of his wine.
“Family?” he asked her quietly.
“Not really. I only had my mama. I never knew who my father was. I got a full scholarship to college and she disowned me shortly after,” Nora said with a sigh. Her home life hadn’t been that great but it was still a much safer topic.
“She disowned you for going to college?” Dax raised his brows in question. He didn’t seem surprised, just curious.
“No. She thought a scholarship meant I had money in my bank account to support her drug habit. Trailer trash like us didn’t go to college—at least that was what she told me. I’m not sure how she thought it worked. She only saw the fact that my scholarship was about fifty thousand dollars and she thought that meant they dumped the money in my account and somehow hoped I spent it on school. She called a few times demanding I give her ten thousand dollars. I didn’t have a prayer of having it. Eventually she called me a stingy little bitch and swore I’d come crawling back. I never did and she never called. Good riddance I guess,” Nora said.
“So you not only had to go somewhere completely strange, you also had no family so to speak,” Dax said quietly. He sounded like the pieces of the puzzle were falling together better. The thought made Nora nervous so she changed the subject.
“You? How about family? Have you always lived in New York? How’d you get into security?” She shot questions at him quickly, hoping to distract him. Dax sighed in disappointment. She was skittish. He intended to keep her, but if he moved too fast he might scare her.
“My family is the old money type. I think my mother is in Monaco or the French Riviera. My father is in New York. They’re married but they do their best to avoid each other. No siblings—I’m surprised they conceived me. I did four tours in the marines, then got out and started my own security firm. Money and experience go a long way in convincing people you can keep them safe. Or at least they go a long way in convincing some people you can keep them safe. Others are harder to convince.” Dax sighed.
“I don’t want to hurt you. I don’t want you to get hurt. You don’t understand what you’re asking of me,” Nora said quietly.
“I do. But I’ll try to be patient until you’re ready to tell me,” he said. Nora sighed and set down her wine glass. It was the tender way he took care of her and the ravenous way he fucked her. It was easy to imagine that she belonged to him and with him. She wanted that more than anything else but she knew she couldn’t have it.
“Take me to bed,” she whispered.
“I thought you’d never ask.” Dax smirked.
Chapter Eight
This time, Dax took her slowly. He touched her softly, savoring the touch of his fingers on her. Nora sighed into his touch as she sank into the sheets. She loved him touching her, caressing her body like she was the most precious thing on earth. He lowered her onto the bed and covered her body with his bigger, stronger body. When he pressed his lips to hers it was a supplication, an appeal, and a command all at the same time.
“I would never hurt you,” he whispered softly. “The only pain I will ever give you is the kind that gives pleasure.” He gently pressed kisses onto her heated skin. Everywhere his lips touched she felt his imprint branded into her skin. He kissed lower, licking his way to the apex of her thighs. Her pussy was wet and wanting, begging for his touch. As he lapped against the soft skin of her inner thigh she gripped his hair and arched her back off the bed. He smiled against her skin and nipped her lightly, drawing a yelp from her.
“Do you have any sort of bindings? A silk cord from a dressing robe perhaps?” he asked Nora.
She blinked up at him and sighed.
“Do you trust me?” he demanded. Nora wondered, did she? With her body at least.
“On the wardrobe. Yes, I do. I know you won’t hurt me,” she whispered.
He nodded and found the tie. With disconcerting ease wrapped it around her hands. When her wrists were secured, he shot her a devilish smile and dove back between her thighs. The flat of his tongue flicked then licked the length of her slit.
“Fuck!” she moaned as she strained against her restraints.
He hummed in satisfaction as he licked her again, deeply. He lapped at her folds lazily, like he wanted to taste every inch of her. Nora gasped as pleasure bathed her in a warm glow. He was so skilled, so patient and so different from the rough lover he’d been earlier, but just as commanding. She couldn’t think of anything else but what his tongue did to her. She flexed her fingers, wanting nothing more than to bury them in his black hair and drag his mouth toward her clit, riding his face until she came.
“Sir. More. Please,” she begged as he circled the tip of his tongue against her clit.
“What do you want
baby?” he teased, dragging his tongue against her clit.
“There! Please Sir. Touch my clit,” she begged.
The sound of her whimpers were making it hard to concentrate. He swiped his tongue against her clit, dragging it into his mouth and suckling until her body buckled beneath him. Orgasmic bliss. She moaned loudly as she came and screamed in satisfaction when his cock slid into her in place of his thumb. He fucked her slowly, feeling every ripple her pussy made, enjoying touching her, feeling her around his engorged flesh. He looked deep into her eyes as he fucked her slowly, making love to her. As she shattered again beneath him, she took him with her. Pleasure beyond anything they had ever experienced. She knew whatever it was she’d tried to keep away, her heart, her soul, her safety, this man had taken it all. There as she lay in his arms, she realized that she could not run away.
Dax stared at Nora and sighed. He had to make sure she never felt like she had a reason to fear. Whether she approved or not, he couldn’t afford to be patient anymore. If anything happened to her, he didn’t think he’d ever be the same again. Though she wasn’t ready to hear it, Dax knew that he was in love with her. That changed everything.
When Friday rolled around Nora couldn’t believe it. She’d spent almost every day with Dax. Though she wasn’t sure what to call it, it didn’t count as a fling. She often chided herself. What she was doing could potentially put them in danger but the more time she spent with him, the more it didn’t matter. She was in love with him. If she couldn’t take risks for love, especially the kind she never thought could actually exist, then was life really worth it? She’d only known Dax for a few weeks but she understood finally what people said about just knowing. Even if things ended badly, she would always treasure the time she’d spent with him. She cuddled closer to him on his couch. He lived in the same ridiculously expensive neighborhood Asher lived in. As her mind drifted to the girls, she bit her lips and flushed guiltily. She was supposed to be hanging out with them. Dax was watching her closely and caught her expression.
“What?” he asked.
“I’m supposed to be hanging out with the girls over at Asher’s. It’s some type of welcome party for this new girl they’re hiring but I’m not going,” Nora said and shrugged like it was no big deal.
“Asher’s isn’t far from here. We’ve had a few meetings at his place. I could drop you off and pick you up when you’re done. That’s if you do want to go,” Dax suggested.
“I want to go but…” Nora started.
“No. You want to go. You should go. No buts. I know how much you like them. C’mon, I’ll drop you off,” Dax insisted.
Nora shrugged. What could be the harm? She went off to the bathroom to freshen up and beneath the nerves was an undeniable feeling of excitement. She hadn’t had a drink with friends in forever. She couldn’t wait.
Chapter Nine
“She’s here,” Celine squealed in greeting as the other girls crowded the door to catch a glimpse of Nora who stood at the doorway somewhat awkwardly. Dax stood behind her, giving her a reassuring smile.
“Hi. Can I come in?” Nora asked the women who nodded eagerly. She gave Dax a wave and went inside. They gave her room to walk into the spacious sitting room where a woman sat, looking almost as shy as Nora felt. She had dusky coloring and great cinnamon-colored eyes. Even from the doorway she was stunning. The other women flounced into the room, laughing among themselves as Charlie handed Nora a shot of vodka.
“Nora, this is Delia, the new girl. Delia, Nora. She’ll be catering the book reading next week and she makes divine coffee,” Celine introduced.
“Oh, I love coffee. It’s one of my favorite things to drink,” Delia said with a dreamy smile. The girl really loved her coffee, that much was obvious.
“You should come to the café sometime. I’ll get you some, on the house of course,” Nora offered.
“Okay. Can we address the Dax in the room? I suspected something was going when he showed up at the library to pick you up but I never would have guessed it was that serious. You didn’t spill.” Celine laughed.
Nora felt herself blush. She really should have prepared better for the onslaught of questions she’d known would come.
“Nope. You’re not holding out on us again. You got a front-row seat to my own drama with Damien. That means you gotta spill too!” Leslie said.
“She did?” Delia asked, interested in what drama Nora could have possibly witnessed.
“You should have seen it. Her boyfriend Damien was begging her to give them a chance. Said he could not live without her and all that jazz. I couldn’t look away. I told her if she didn’t take him I would.” Nora laughed at the memory.
“You know what else is romantic? You and Dax,” Kay said with a wink.
Nora laughed. Kay had never been subtle but she knew she couldn’t stall anymore. Besides, she’d been dying to tell someone about him. Who better than the girls that always had her back even though she had not been straightforward with them? They understood and kept their distance.
“He’s been helping me get to work and back for a couple of weeks now. A few days ago, I invited him for a drink. The rest is history. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about him. He’s so great and when he touches me, I forget everything.” Nora smiled as the other women sighed dreamily and giggled.
“I guess I can see how taking you to and from work would be romantic, but that was a really specific approach was it not?” Leslie asked slowly. She knew Nora still wasn’t comfortable with some things and she didn’t want to cross any lines.
“He wanted to keep me safe.” Nora sighed. It was time to say it even if it wasn’t the whole story. “I had to leave Chicago for my safety. It’s why I’m not open with you guys. I could leave at any moment and it’s just easier that way, so I don’t leave a trail behind.” Nora sighed again into her shot glass. The women shared a look and nodded among themselves. Nora was beginning to open up.
“I understand if you don’t want to talk to us but I suggest that you talk to Dax. This is what he does for a living. Whatever danger you’re in, I’m sure he can help. For a man who has gone above and beyond to make sure you’re safe, it’s probably killing him that you don’t want to confide in him. Just consider it, okay?” Celine suggested.
“I’ll tell him,” Nora agreed. She had to start trusting someone right? Dax said he could keep her safe. She had to trust that he would.
By the time the get-together had wound down, Dax had already come to pick Nora up. As they were heading back to his house, Nora was quiet, staring out the window at the darkened landscapes outside.
“Are you okay? Did you have fun?” Dax prodded as he parked in front of his building.
“I am. Let’s go in. I need to tell you everything,” Nora said. Dax stared at her, quickly masking his shock. He moved inside and took a seat on the couch. Nora sat next to him but held herself away from him. Distancing herself from her emotions was the only way she could tell this story without falling apart.
“I told you about my mom but I didn’t tell you how devastated I was at the time. It felt like my only family had abandoned me. Over the years I had learned to make excuses for her behavior but this time I couldn’t. I felt so lonely. One evening I was studying in the café next to my hotel when this man walked in. He was sophisticated, older, smooth. I was flattered. He wanted to take me places, introduced me to all his friends as his wife-to-be, took me to all the family functions. It’s easy to see me as I was then: young, naive, starved for affection. He didn’t even have to try very hard before I was falling over myself to please him. He graciously ‘allowed’ me, his words not mine, to finish college. When I wanted to find a job he said I didn’t need to work. He would provide for me—all I had to do was be by his side. Sounds easy enough, right?” Nora laughed bitterly and snuck a look at Dax who just sat, quietly urging her to go on.
“It wasn’t easy though. He bought me clothes, brought hairstylists in to do my hair and insisted I ta
ke etiquette classes. Even after all that I wasn’t perfect, or so he said. The first time he hit me it was because the soufflé I had baked went flat before I served it. It wasn’t perfect so I got a punch in the eye.”
“Fuck. I’m going to kill the bastard,” Dax swore.
“After that, he was careful not to hit me in the face. I took it too. For four years. He told me if I ever ran he’d find me. He’d kill me and kill anyone who so much as looked my way. I believed him but I ran anyway. I changed my name to my mother’s maiden name. I was Emily Nora O’Malley. I dropped Emily and used Nora with my mom’s name. I ran and I’ve been looking over my shoulder ever since. You see why I avoid people? If he finds me he’ll kill me and the people around me. I can’t have that on my conscience. I simply can’t. So I kept my distance. I never married him, thank god. I just stayed way longer than I should have.” Nora paused and took her first deep breath. It was like all the weight had been pushed off her shoulders. She looked at Dax, who drew her into his arms. His eyes were alight with fury but she knew it wasn’t directed at her.
