“Oh, Adrien! I’ve dreamed of being in your arms. Of loving you, completely. I have never been able to even consider loving another man.
“Nor I, another woman.”
Janie felt his arms go around her as he swept her up into his embrace. Slowly, his lips took hers. At first kissed her softly, gently as he explored the newness of it all. When she parted her lips for him to delve deeper, his kisses became more urgent. Everything around her disappeared as he clung to her.
Adoringly, his hands caressed her face. The roughness of his skin added to the intensity of his touch. Needing to be closer, Janie wrapped her arms around him.
“I have waited so long for this and I never dreamed it would actually happen. I thought you had gone away and married someone else.” Janie pulled out of his embrace.
“I could never betray you that way. You are all I’ve ever wanted. I came back for you in hopes that you would marry me.”
Giddy with joy, Janie collapsed into his arms. The weight of a lifetime finally lifted off her shoulders. How could she have ever imagined the thief of hearts would actually turn out to be the man of her dreams?
