“What do you mean?” I said throwing my legs over the side of the bed.
“When you use magic, it takes a toll on you. It can drain you. You have the classic symptoms of someone who has used a lot of magic recently. Whatever happened, you were fighting it.”

I made my way to my room with Link holding me up most of the way. I was surprised my legs could even hold me up, but they did. It could have been that I was concentrating on the arm wrapped around my waist instead of my legs, but I didn’t even realize when we were at my door.
“Are you sure you are okay?” Link asked without letting me go.
“I’ll be fine,” I said. “Thank you for bringing me home.”
“You’re welcome. I just want to make sure you are feeling good about things.”
“I just need some sleep and a good book,” I said with a smile.
“Good.” He pulled his arm back and let me go. “I’ll be in my room if you need anything.”
“Thank you,” I said. “I think I’m just going to go to sleep.”
He started to walk away before turning back around. “You remember when you said there was black smoke around the school?”
“Yeah,” I said, knowing what was coming next. He was going to ask me the one thing I didn’t want to talk about.
“Is that what you saw?” He said. “The black smoke?”
I bit my lip, unsure if I should tell him about what I’d seen in my dream or if I should keep it to myself. “I don’t know. I don’t remember.”
He nodded. “Okay. Have a good night.”
“Night,” I said. All I wanted to do was go into my room and go to sleep. Too bad that wasn’t going to happen tonight.
