“Jackie, do you like cheesecake?”
“I do, I love it.”
“Okay, will two be enough, they’re pretty rich?”
“Hold on, let me ask.” She found Charles on the porch. She sat in his lap and gave him a sexy wiggle that made him groan. “Do you like cheesecake?”

Chapter 27
Polly was about the same size as Jackie, they were both tall, five-foot-nine, and Polly didn’t have much to wear. Jackie went through everything she had brought home until she found a sexy red slinky dress that would look fabulous on Polly. Jackie couldn’t even remember where it came from. The girls were dressed and dinner was ready. Everything was set. James and Amy arrived right on time. Charles invited them in and offered James a beer. James looked very sharp in black slacks and white shirt. His steel grey hair was combed back and his grey eyes sparkled. Charles complimented Amy on the pretty summer dress she was wearing.
Jackie came into the front room with glasses of wine for Amy and Polly and one for herself. James looked around for Polly. Jackie cleared her throat to get James attention and pointed to the stairs. At the top of the stairs was the most beautiful woman James had ever seen. Polly started down the stairs as James rushed to greet her at the bottom step. She looked beautiful. The red dress fit her like a glove, showing off her curves and her long legs. Her white hair haloed her face. When their eyes met, that was it. They knew instantly they were mates.
Jackie and Amy put dinner on the table and called everyone to come and eat. Robert couldn’t get over how fast Polly and James knew they were mates.
“Was it like that for you and Jackie?” Robert asked Charles.
“Not quite; I just knew that I would have done anything for Jackie. I don’t know what it is with wolves, but that is exactly the way it happened with Beth and Cane. When James was here earlier, he saw Polly half way around the lake and I think even then, he knew. Right James? James!” Everyone laughed.
James and Polly finally started to get over the shock of meeting and the conversation picked up. They had a great time, dinner was a success and there wasn’t a crumb of three huge cheesecakes left when they were done.
James got up from the table. “If you all wouldn’t mind and if this young lady would care to join me, I’d like to take a stroll by the lake. Dinner was excellent by the way, thank you Jackie.”
“You are quite welcome, James. You can thank Polly for dessert, she made the cheesecake.” James gave Polly an appreciative look.
“Now, be sure you have Polly home by midnight or poppa bear will have your hide.” James looked at Charles and back at Jackie, but Jackie couldn’t keep a straight face. “I’m kidding.”
“When you come in, keep the noise down.” Charles grumbled and they all laughed. “Amy will be in the room next to you.” Jackie had invited Amy to spend the night, she already knew James wasn’t going home.
Jackie and Amy did the dishes. Jackie told Amy all about teaching the men and women they had rescued how to shift.
“Amy, I remembered everything you taught me and it helped those kids. Some of them had shifted before, but it was hard for them. After two days, they could shift like they had been doing it all their lives.”
“What about Polly, did she know?” Amy asked. Jackie and Charles had avoided talking about the warehouse and what went on there during dinner.
“No. She was so scared. I guess those men had tried to make her shift the night before we found them. She was beaten viciously. She was still healing after a couple of days. She has a few scars that will never go away. I have to give her credit, she never complained.
“Yeah, unfortunately wolves heal a little slower than other shifters. Why did they beat her?”
“That’s what those men did. They beat them until they either shifted or they were unconscious or dead and they enjoyed it. The FBI found five bodies outside of the warehouse. Bill said it was awful, four girls and a boy. They had been tortured and beaten to death.”
“Wow. Well, I for one am really glad you rescued Polly. Being the Alpha of our clan, James needed a mate and I like her. Now I’m jealous.” They both laughed.
“Don’t worry, you’ll find the mate of your dreams, I know you will.” Jackie told her. Just then Charles walked in followed by Robert.
“Jackie, you don’t have to tell everyone that I’m the man of your dreams, I’m sure they can tell just by looking.”
“We weren’t talking about you, but you’re right; you are definitely the man of my dreams.” She gave Charles a big hug. “I love you.”
“Well, on that note, I think I’ll head for bed.” Amy told them. “Good night, you two.” Robert said good night as well.
“Good night, Amy. Good night Rob. We’ll see you in the morning.” Jackie turned to Charles. “I don’t think we need to wait up, do you?”
“You have got to be kidding.” Charles growled, grabbed Jackie and tossed her over his shoulder. He ran up the stairs to their room, ignoring her protests. He closed the bedroom door and gently set her on her feet. Before she could complain, he covered her mouth with his and gave a kiss that made her toes curl and her pussy wet. As he kissed her, he carefully unzipped the back of her dress and let it drop from her shoulders. It was a strapless dress. She wasn’t wearing a bra.
