Rigid sat down next to me and pulled me into his lap. “Look at me,” he ordered.
I looked him in the eye and felt the tears threatening to fall. “I almost lost you again,” I whispered, as I let the tears fall.
“I know, beautiful, but I’m still here. It’s going to take a lot more than a bunch of idiots and a trigger happy idiot to take me away from you. I promise,” he vowed.
I shook my head no. “You can’t promise that, Rigid. If you would have been standing two feet to the left you could be the one in the back of that ambulance, not Gravel. I can’t lose you again,” I wailed, becoming hysterical. The man I loved was almost taken away from me again. Holy shit, the man I love. I love Rigid.
“I love you,” I blurted out, unable to keep it in. I had just realized it, but if what had just happened taught me anything, it was to not wait for later. I loved Rigid and he needed to know.
“Just calm down, you’re ok. You’re just in shock right now, take a deep breath and just take a minute to breathe, beautiful,” he calmly said, ignoring what I had just blurted out.
“No!’ I yelled, knocking his hand away from my face. ‘I mean, yes I’m in shock, but no, I love you. I know you think I don’t mean it, but I do. I don’t want to live without you. I can’t live without you. I love you with everything I am Rigid. I’m not going to change my mind or take it back when this all wears off, I love you,” I babbled.
“Cyn, this is crazy,” he reasoned.
“I know it’s crazy, but I love you. There will never be another person who makes me feel the way you do. I love you!” I yelled.
“Jesus Christ,’ Rigid said, rubbing his hands down his face. He looked me in the eye and just stared at me. ‘I love you, too.” he whispered.
“You love me?” I asked like an idiot.
“I love you,” he declared, louder.
“Holy shit, you love me,” I cackled, a grin spreading across my face. I tackled him, pushing him onto his back and straddled him.
He placed his hands on my hips, his fingers spanning my waist. “I love you, Cyn,” he repeated.
“I love you, too, Ash,” I whispered, leaning down, placing a kiss on his lips.
“Now what?” He asked against my lips.
“Um, you need to go to church and then we need to go to the hospital and make sure Gravel is ok.”
“Then what about after that? This isn’t over yet, Cyn. We are going to have to take care of the Assassins.” Rigid said somberly.
I took my eyes off Rigid and glanced around his room. This was where Rigid had stayed when he wasn’t with me. This room and the club were his life before me. “You do what needs to be done, and you come home to me, no matter what, you come home to me. Promise me.”
“No matter what, I will always come home to you, Cyn. You’re all I need. If I don’t have you to come home to, I have nothing. I love you with all that I am. I’m yours,” he vowed.
“No matter what,’ I agreed, ‘I love you too,” I laid a kiss on his lips and laid my head down over his heart.
The steady beating of his heart calmed me, and I knew no matter what happened next, Rigid and I would make it through together. We would always come home to each other.
