‘You mentioned gods and goddesses?’
Cassaldra still glowed with an aura of light.
‘Like we are. You are a god, Stave Swirler; I am a goddess. We are ancient, immortal. We can no longer die unless we choose to. You invited me to your heaven many years ago and I can invite you to mine. Part of my heaven is to revisit past lives, not as an observer but to relive them as many times as I wish. We have known each other for centuries. Now we have another joyous mountain to climb, spiritually speaking, but this time without pain, hurt, greed or anger. Learn to live and love again, learn to be free. We have many wonders ahead of us, and to know we will never suffer physically or mentally again.’
The only tears are tears of happiness. Someone told me that a long time ago…
That thought triggered a rush of memory. Stave’s heart lurched with love as he gazed at Cassaldra, fully recognising her.
‘I’m remembering again!’ he cried out, and he knelt before her, took her delicate hand and kissed it. ‘My Cassaldra,’ he said.
‘Stave,’ she answered simply and stroked his hair.
I will love you again forever with every atom of my being. You are my dream reality.
A clear crystalline space, a pause encompassing spirit and soul.
Beyond the passage of time, outside of pain and death, a god and goddess kissed as two halves of the same entity. A simple kiss of empathy, love, and unity within a sphere of silvery light. And for an eternity of joy within a fleeting moment, they became one.
