Skin and Bones Page 4

by Susan Harris

He watched the damn wolf pull into the police station and felt the urge to dissect the beast who had made it his mission to capture him. This creature and his team wanted to stop his fun and games and take his prizes away from him.

  He wouldn’t allow it.

His shoulder bumped against the journalists who swarmed around him with no idea that the man they sought was right in front of them. He could kill them all, bathe in all their bloody glory, but he had other things to do. He had a plan, and he had to stick to it. Timing was everything.

Grudgingly, he left the crowd and made his way to his own vehicle. He spied the cop speaking to a stunningly beautiful woman before the bear came to meet them. It intrigued him to see the look on the hard-nosed cop’s face. Maybe he would have to spend some more time watching him and his new golden-haired girl.

However, now was not the time. Tearing his gaze from them, he slid into his car, his body shaking in anticipation. He hadn’t had enough time with his Carly; she had faded too quickly. She wasn’t as strong as he would have liked. His body trembled in pleasure as he remembered how she had tasted… and how she had screamed and begged for her life.

But it was over too soon. The next one would last longer; he would make sure of it. His hunger was growing, and his need was insatiable. He didn’t have time to waste. He wanted to feel the taste of young, tart blood on his tongue once more.

He needed to live. His lust for blood only elevated the need for survival. He hadn’t expected to enjoy it so much, hadn’t meant to fall so far that even if he managed to stay alive, he would be a slave to the bloodlust. But he didn’t care.

Regaining his composure, he drove the car into the steady stream of traffic, blood on his mind and another victim in his sights.
