toughest and most disgusting cake to eat, and even on occasion quite dangerous for the said consumer) from now on.
As Zarkon entered the grounds all that awaited his presence was a bunch of snoring guards. The demon's power was indeed great and a plan formed in his head. Why should he free the creature, he could become its master as Darafon had. He could take on the power and increase his own power to magnificent proportions.
On entering the tower he headed straight for the entrance to its dungeons. All around lay sleeping guards, the only resistance they put up was on occasion Zarkon would have to step over there limp bodies.
The dungeon he found had nine levels, and it was on the ninth where he found the demon. The room in which it was housed was lit by seven candles that surrounded a circle that had been made in blood. Each of the candles represented a different colour of the rainbow.
The light from the candles seemed to change colour every few seconds, though it did not reach the corners of the room and these remained in pitch black darkness. In the middle of the circle, three children lay dead. There eyes were pale and grey as if something had been taken from them. Above these floated the demon, a truly amazing sight even to Zarkon's eyes which had seen countless terrifying images. Its body was of human shape although incredibly skinny and covered in a transparent dull green skin so that the rib cage showed through. Its legs were short and stumpy, where as its arms were long and thin, ending in thick hands with foot long skeletal fingers. The head of the beast looked exactly like a tyrannosauruses would look (which on this world where said to still roam, brought back through powerful magic that cut through time and dragged creatures from a past era to the present), except the eye's glowed a sickly hellish red.
The creature was the first to speak and Zarkon found it strange and amusing that it seemed to have a kind of upper class, well educated accent, instead of a gurgling horrid noise he had expected from one so hideous.
"Welcome Zarkon to my humble little prison. Let me introduce myself, my name is Jarmoon the Thin, and I am the one who watches and witnesses the unspeakable acts of man. All I ask from you is my freedom, and as repayment you will get this city, and revenge on Darafon.”
"All in good time Jarmoon, but first tell me how such a creature like you is held in bondage by a simple wizard like Darafon.”
"Ah”, said the demon. “You see Darafon made a pact with the priests of Farelyon the Pure. I had been terrorising these pathetic little men who believed in the false god Farelyon. So to stop me they passed on to Darafon the secret knowledge of how a warlock can imprison one of my kind. In doing so he would take me as his slave, so I may never trouble those sad pathetic priests again", replied Jarmoon.
"I'll come to the point Jarmoon, I'm not willing to release you!
“You see I know that Darafon must be torturing you somehow and making you suffer for you to give him your great mystical powers, so I offer you an alternative. I will keep you as my slave but I will treat you well, I know this is not the future you had hoped but it is still better than the one you exist in now. All I need to know is to how to release you from Darafon and into my grasp", said Zarkon tapping his fingers together and grinning cunningly.
The creature thought for a moment before replying: "Very well. All you need to do is put each candle out one by one, then relight them while at the same time casting a simple imprison spell on each as you go around the circle. Then you will become my master.”
The demon remained still as it watched Zarkon who in his eagerness to become the wizard of Lardenmuk and defeat Darafon performed this task without question.
Once done he proclaimed himself the demons master.
"Now my slave, wake that poor excuse of a wizard and bring him down here to face me", commanded Zarkon.
"So be it, replied Jarmoon. ARISE DARAFON, I SEEK AN AUDIENCE WITH YOU, IMMEDIATELY". These last words seemed to echo around the dungeon and upwards towards the tower. Within a short time Darafon, dressed in his nightgown came hurrying into the room were the demon and Zarkon waited.
"What's going on, and what's he doing here, be gone at once before I have you thrown out. In’ fact I might as well do it myself", said Darafon.
"You'll find that the power you once had is now mine, and it is you who will pack your bags and leave my city”, replied Zarkon, his voice booming out from him as four years of revenge where about to be quenched. He then said: “First though you will hand over your post to me and tell all our fellow wizards how you cheated me out of my rightful position".
“So the demon is now under your power, as it still remains in the circle and we are not dead. You have out smarted me Zarkon, but first tell me how you learnt of the secret dance of coupling that binds a demon under your command", asked Darafon.
The demon laughed…
"What dance, what the hell are you going on about you has-been!” replied Zarkon angrily.
"You haven’t performed the dance, but then what holds the-" Darafon broke off in mid sentence, his eyes wide in terror as he turned to look at the demon as it stepped out of the circle.
"Free, frEE, FREE at last” sang out Jarmoon. “You, you fool, (the demon pointed at Zarkon) you really think I would let you imprison me and become my master. And you Darafon, for four years now I have served you, and in return you have starved me. Feeding me children. I who eat the knowledgeable have had to survive on but a child’s experience… Pah.!
“Tonight however is different, you two have both lived long and interesting lives, and are both very VERY knowledgeable being wizards".
The demon approached the pair, who could only stand and watch as it came towards them, its mouth dripping in anticipation.
"Tonight", said Jarmoon. "Jarmoon the Thin will become Jarmoon the Fat".
