The Best Professor (The Best Series Book 1) Page 26

“Oh, I didn’t know you got back in a relationship with him already,” Abigail lied smoothly to make it seem like she hadn't lied to Andrew. Whatever. She’ll give her friend an inch. After all, Melanie could see why Abi liked Andrew. He was a good-looking guy, had a nice smile, and was a total gentleman. He didn't ruin the mood with awkward jokes, and he wasn't eyeing Abigail down like a dog eyeing a bone. Again, how was he friends with George? Didn't birds of the same feather flock together? But then again, look at her and Abi. No one would believe they were friends.

“Who is this boyfriend of yours that you have gotten back together with?” George asked as he took a sip of his beer. “I bet you he isn’t as good-looking as me.”

Melanie nearly snorted at the audacity of his comment. George looked like a gorilla in comparison to Noah, who looked twenty times better than him. And even if George looked better than Noah, his personality still sucked.

“You don’t need to know. All you need to know is that I’m in a relationship, and I’m not looking for one.”

“So, you aren’t going to tell me anything? His job occupation? What he does for a living?” George grinned with a knowing smile. “You must be ashamed of him if you aren’t going to say anything.”

“George,” Andrew said with a warning tone.

“No offense, but your friend is a dick,” Abigail said as her languid posture against Andrew stiffened while she shot lasers at George, whose attention was focused on Melanie, waiting for her response.

“Why do I have to prove anything to you?” Melanie asked as she folded her arms on top of each other, completely offended and knowing that soon she would leave because there was no way she could deal being in this man’s presence any longer.

“Because women lie all the time as a defense mechanism instead of being upfront. And if you do have a boyfriend, you shouldn’t have a problem with bragging about how good he is, unless he doesn’t exist, or he isn’t as half as me.”

Melanie snorted. “You’re a real estate agent, and from the card you gave me, you’re bottom tier at best. Let me ask you a question, does this work for you with getting women?”

“Sometimes,” George grinned as he leaned back in his seat. He thought he was charming, but the asshole thing only worked on guys who actually looked good and were worth fucking despite them being assholes. George was not nearly handsome enough for this to work, and she would bet that eighty percent of the time, he had a drink thrown in his face with comments like these, but even George wasn’t worth the drink she paid for. He was just a sad man who got off on the idea of thinking he was better than other people to feed his own insecurities. And after Melanie had shot him down, his pride was hurt, especially since he was in front of his friend. Soon, he’ll start telling her that she wasn’t as pretty as he claimed before, and now that's what you called a defense mechanism. Poor baby only knew how to lash out when his feelings were hurt.

“But really, what does your boyfriend do that a real estate agent isn’t impressive to you?”

First, a real estate agent was impressive, but George wasn't one of them. Second, Melanie wanted to tell Noah's occupation, that he was a soon-to-be pro-hockey player, but how could she say that when said hockey player was also a college student she once taught. How could Melanie admit that when she was also several years older than him? Melanie wasn’t ashamed of Noah, not at all. He was a great guy, and even if he wasn’t a hockey player, she would still be proud to be with someone as kind and caring as him. But at the same time, she couldn’t shout their relationship to the mountain tops either.

When Melanie didn’t respond, George’s grin nearly split his face in two. Melanie was over this and was now ready to throw a drink in his face.

“I don’t have to prove anything to an asshole like you who's upset because he won’t be getting any tonight.”

Immediately that grin wiped away and was replaced with a frown. Melanie smiled, ready to keep telling George off until he felt like there was an actual drink on his face. But before she could continue, commotion from the front door took the attention of most of the patrons inside the bar, including Melanie as she glanced behind her to see what the fuss was. A group of rowdy young people had entered the bar, and some of them looked like they already had their fair share of drinks for the night and didn’t need anymore.

“I miss those days,” George said as he gulped down the rest of his beer, watching the group of young adults who had probably come from a nearby college. “When being young and stupid was okay. They think they’re men now when they're just boys.”

Melanie snorted. The only boy in this room was George, and he still hadn’t realized it yet. Melanie nearly turned back around, ready to tell Abigail that she was going to leave when something caught her eye. She recognized a few of those kids, and one of them was Julie. Immediately, Melanie cursed under her breath. For some reason, she could never walk around this damn town without seeing one of her students. Call her old fashioned, but she didn’t think it was appropriate for her students to see her at a bar like this even if they were college students. It seemed very unprofessional; granted, her professional skills hadn't been the best as of late.

“Are those some of your students?” Abigail asked, seeing the uncomfortable look on Melanie's face.

“Wait, I thought you said you were a psychologist,” George said, turning his attention back on her.

“I am one, but I also teach courses at a college near here.”

“So, you’re a professor,” George said with a grin. “I think I like that.”

Melanie couldn’t hide her frown even if she tried. He must have been out of his mind if he thought this was going to continue any further after he pissed her off earlier. She didn’t care what fantasy was playing in his mind right now.

“Maybe we should dance so we can get back on track,” George suggested as he placed his empty beer down, standing before offering her his hand. Yeah. George was out of his mind.

“No, thank you,” Melanie said, shortly.

“See, that’s exactly why I was trying to rile you up earlier because you’re so uptight. Even if you have a boyfriend, he shouldn’t have a problem with you having a dance with me.”

Suddenly, Melanie was pulled from the booth and onto her feet, and immediately, he snaked an arm around her waist.

“Yo, George back off, man,” Andrew said with a sigh as he stood up, untangling himself from Abigail. He looked at Abigail apologetically. “I’m sorry about this. I didn’t think he would be like this.”

“I don’t want to dance with you,” Melanie said as she tugged herself away from him.

"Oh, come up. Loosen up," George said.

"You got to stop, man," Andrew said as he tried to pull his friend back before he touched Melanie again, but before George had the chance to touch her again, someone tugged her away from his reach. Just as Melanie was going to give her thanks, she noticed who her savor was. Melanie's eyes widened astronomically.

“Noah,” Melanie said, shocked to see him there. Before she could wonder how he knew she was at this bar, Melanie realized Noah must have come in with the group of students that stepped in the bar earlier. Wait. Did that mean he had come with Julie?

Noah didn’t bother to acknowledge her as he glared at George. He was pissed, judging from the tight grip he had on her arm.

“Who the hell are you?” George asked with a slight slur, showing that just two beers alone were way too much for him to handle. He ripped his arm away from Andrew as he glared at Noah.

Melanie prayed that Noah didn’t tell the truth as she looked at him with a pleading gaze. His friends were right across the room, and she had just told George and Andrew that some of her students were a part of that group. If Noah said he was her boyfriend, it would only take them but so much time to put two and two together to know she was dating one of her students. She did not want to deal with that type of embarrassment.

  “I’m her
bodyguard, and the next time I see you touching her like that, we won’t solve this with words,” Noah warned George, towering over the man's short stature. Melanie felt chills go down her spine, seeing the dark glare in Noah's eyes, and she had a feeling Noah meant every word he said. She had never seen him this angry before. The boy who was all dimples and smiles was gone and was replaced with the beast she saw on the ice.

George growled and leaped, but Andrew immediately tugged him back, stopping his friend. “Stop it before you get yourself hurt. He’s way bigger than you.”

Noah stared George down until he was satisfied before he pulled Melanie towards the back of the bar and took her out the back door. Melanie shivered in the cold night air as she watched Noah pace back and forth. She only had a short dress on, and she had left her jacket and purse at the booth.

“Noah,” she started, but immediately, Melanie wished she had never said anything as he turned his heavy gaze on her. She sighed, not ready for a fight between them. She was still trying to digest what just happened. “Calm down. He didn’t hurt me.”

“Why the hell are you at a bar with a guy anyway?” Noah asked, his blue eyes filled with anger as he glared at her from across the alleyway.

“Uh,” Melanie started, not really sure how to explain this. Curse Abigail for putting her in this position. “Abigail wanted me to third-wheel with her on a date, but the guy brought his friend here. It wasn’t on purpose, and I didn’t entertain him or anything like that.”

“I turn my head one time, Melanie. One damn time and you’re already trying to run from me.”

Melanie balked at his words, and suddenly, the chilly air of the night no longer bothered her as she herself was filled with anger from his words. “I didn’t say anything about you going out tonight or the fact that you’re out with Julie of all people too, but you think you can judge me?”

“Julie? Are you serious? What does she have to do with anything?”

“Are you saying you both just happened to be at the same bar?”

Noah sighed. “We both hang with the same circle, but she doesn’t mean anything to me.”

“Yeah, so you can get upset with me, but I can’t say anything to you about the girl you tutored,” Melanie said sarcastically, knowing that at one point, Noah did something sexual with Julie.

“Stop bringing up old shit, Melanie,” Noah said. “You’re only trying to dodge the fact that you’re out on a date with another guy.”

“I’m not on a date!” Melanie shouted.

“Just admit it,” Noah said, his nose wrinkled with anger. “You’re trying to leave me.”

“What the hell are you talking about?” Melanie asked, flabbergasted by his words. Is that what he thought was happening right now?

“Then why didn’t you tell that guy I was your boyfriend?”

“Well, I can’t very well do that when you came inside the bar with your childish ass friends.”

The air in the alleyway was heavy as they both glared at each other furiously. Melanie was pissed at the accusations being thrown her way. Noah was treating her like she was some cheater when she had done no such thing and hadn’t entertained that creep George in the slightest. And how could she even think to tell George that Noah was her boyfriend when Noah had come in with a group of rowdy teenagers. It wasn't possible.

Melanie folded her arms on top of each other, trying her best not to pout because she was the adult here, but she couldn't help but be angry. This was so freaking childish, to the point that she was saying dumb things. It's not like she cared about Julie anyway.

Done with this and this cold air, Melanie turned to head back inside, but Noah suddenly grabbed her wrist, tugging her out of the alley.

“Where are we going?” Melanie asked as she tried to keep up with Noah in her heels, and when she saw he was taking her to his truck, she struggled against him. “I don’t want to go anywhere with you.”

She was pissed, and right now, she didn’t even want to see Noah’s face. But Noah’s grip was tight, and he didn’t let her go until they were next to his truck, and then he kissed her. She struggled at first, not wanting to give in. She was angry, and he just excused her of something terrible. Clearly, he didn't trust her, and that hurt. But as his lips hungrily sucked on her own, Melanie melted against him, his tongue tying with her own roughly. She felt hot, and suddenly all of the aggression inside of her, she wanted released. Noah seemed to think the same as he threw the door open, and he picked her up, placing her in the back seat before he followed, slamming the door behind him. Immediately, he swept her into a toe-curling kiss again as he laid his weight on top of her.

Melanie kissed him deeply, moaning in his mouth as his hands roamed over the thin fabric of her black dress.

“You look so fucking good,” Noah told her as he began to nip at her neck in the way she liked. He pulled the top of her strapless dress down, and lowered her strapless bra before he began to suck on her breasts. The feel of his tongue on her nipples felt so good, but he wasn’t there for long before he moved down lower. Melanie lifted up so he could take off her underwear, and she gasped when his lips touched hers down there. His tongue swiped between the seams of her lips before he sucked on clits.

“Oh, God,” Melanie said and gave a silent apology for using his name in vain, but she couldn’t help it. She was on fire with the way Noah was licking and sucking her. It felt incredible. And with the way his tongue fucked her, going in and out, it wasn’t long before Melanie gasped out his name before cumming.

Noah lifted up, and even in the darkness, she could see her silk shiny on his lips. Melanie lifted up and kissed him deeply, tasting herself in his mouth. She wanted to please him too. Melanie helped him take his belt off, but when she bent down, Noah stopped her.

“Noah,” she uttered, not understanding why he was stopping her.

“You’ll do that when we get to your apartment,” Noah told her. “For now, I want to fuck you.”

Melanie nearly melted as Noah kissed her again before pushing her back down, and Melanie could only thank the heavens that they weren’t inside of her tiny car; otherwise, this would be terribly uncomfortable.

Noah positioned himself near her center and rubbed her wetness. It was only then that Melanie realized something as her eyes popped open momentarily, taking her out of bliss.

“Do you have a condom?” she asked, and Noah stopped and cursed, and she knew for certain he didn't have one. But instead of moving back, he stayed where he was. Melanie eyed him curiously as he continued stroking himself, and the sight made her wetter.

“I’ll pull out,” he told her. And though Melanie knew that method was probably the shittiest one to stop pregnancy, the other part of her deeply wanted Noah inside of her, and knew that tomorrow, the sixty dollars she would need to pay for a Plan B might be worth it. So, in response, Melanie lowered herself on his dick, and Noah squeezed his eyes in pleasure as he slowly met her halfway before he began to thrust in and out of her.

The air in the truck was thick and hot, and the truck creaked as Noah held her, fucking in and out of her. The feel of his heavy body on her made her feel warm and safe. Noah always fucked her right, his strokes hitting all the right places as he murmured dirty words in her ear. “You feel so fucking good. I love being inside of you. This is my pussy, right? You can't give it to anyone else.”

Usually, these words would turn her off coming from the wrong man, but Noah was the right man in every way, and he was driving her crazy, making her feel dirty and desired, all the same. His words, and the way his lips brushed against her ear as he told her these sweet nothings made her organism right there. She gasped, legs quivering around his waist.

"That's right, baby," Noah told her as she whimpered, feeling the spasms through her thighs. Coming had never felt so sweet. It wasn't long before Noah followed after her and pulled out, shooting on the back seat.

Melanie burst into laughter even while brea
thless. Noah loved his truck, and like any other cliché man, had even given her a name, Angelina, from his crush on Angelina Jolie.

“I bet you wished you had a condom now,” Melanie joked, and Noah chuckled as he brushed his damp hair back.

“Didn’t know I was going to need one tonight,” Noah said. Melanie heard the bite in his words as they hung in the air. Noah grabbed some napkins out of his glove department, keeping some for himself while passing the rest to her. After she finished wiping herself, Melanie adjusted her dress back into its right place. She was surprised when Noah pulled her into his arms. She was positive Noah was still mad at her.

As Melanie relaxed, laying her head against his chest, she listened to the sound of his heartbeat. She was tired now and wanted to snuggle up with Noah and sleep. But there was no way to do that in this truck on this cold night.

“Leave with me,” he told her quietly as he ran his fingers through her hair.

“You know you’re being unreasonable right,” Melanie told him. “Besides, I drove here with Abigail. I can’t leave her here.”

Noah didn’t say anything, and Melanie sat up. “I’m not on a date with that guy, and I’m not trying to leave you,” Melanie explained, unsure of where Noah's worries were coming from.

“I know,” Noah said. “I know.”

They sat in the truck in silence for a little while longer before they got out together. Melanie helped Noah adjust his pants right and to make sure there was nothing on him. She laughed when she noticed his hair was still sticking up in certain places and fixed it for him.

“We don’t want the girls to see you looking shabby,” Melanie said, jokingly. Noah shook his head before he playfully pinched her nose, and Melanie slapped his hand away.

“You’re going to mess up my make-up,” she complained as she looked at her face in his side mirror.

“I’m pretty sure I already did,” Noah said as he wiped his lips that still had a faint stain of her red lipstick. Luckily, Melanie’s make-up had held well except for her lipstick that was on Noah’s lips.
