“Yes!” Bo squeaked, his voice strangled. His eyes shut and his back arched up, but a hand on his spine forced him back down.

“Back down, ass up,” Ryker snapped. “Like the good submissive that you are.”

Normally not one to force himself into any sort of role, Bo very, very much wanted to be a good submissive. Just this once. He obeyed eagerly and found that it was easier than he thought. Not normally very flexible by nature, his body took to this like breathing.

The hand on Bo’s dick continued to keep a firm hold, and now those fingers started to rhythmically tighten and loosen on him while also stroking up and down. The action was nothing special in and of itself—Bo had probably done it himself more than a few thousand times, especially when he was deep in the middle of heat—but to feel the other’s body against his, to hear him and smell him, to be surrounded... All those other sensations ganged up on him now and compounded what he felt, kindling the burning inside of himself until he felt like it was going to blaze out of control.

  Out of control...

His dick was throbbing, the tip swollen red with the pressure to release.

  “Ryker!” he gasped out.

And then the cock pressing between his ass cheeks was gone, and a finger replaced it to gently prod at his opening.

That was all he could take.

The blaze shoved him back in a corner, and there was nothing to do but go over the edge. A squeal burst from his throat, and his entire body went into spasms. Eyes rolling back in his head, Bo shook and shook until he was spent, but the pressure of the hand still moving up and down on his dick wouldn’t let him go limp.

Even though he had relief, the pressure was still there. His dick felt sensitive and he balanced his weight on one hand and tried to use the other to grab at Ryker, to shove his grip away.

  “It’s not...ah...”

  He could hardly talk.

Ryker’s grip tightened on him, and he gasped. He felt hot breath rushing against his ear, ruffling his hair. “What’s the matter? Sensitive there?”

Bo nodded, taking in a ragged gulp of air.

Thankfully, Ryker relaxed his grip and pulled his hand away. Bo started to straighten up but he was pushed back over again, one hand again holding his hip. Fingers pressed again against Bo’s opening, and he rubbed back against the touch again. It felt even better than before, this time. He felt so sensitive. Being rubbed made his legs tremble, rekindling the fire in his stomach. It was a different sort of burn. Deeper. Hotter.

“You’re getting looser,” Ryker breathed. “Relax, omega. This is what you were meant for.”

  What I was meant for.

He was more than a receptacle for pleasure, but his body was telling him that for now, just this one, it was what he really was meant to be doing.

Letting his eyes fall shut again, Bo relaxed as best he could and raised his ass up again.

The finger pressing on his opening rubbed and traced tight circles around the entrance. Whimpering softly, he moved and wriggled playfully back against it. Ryker let out a soft grunt of laughter. “Hell yeah, you like that. I know you do.”

  Bo moaned his agreement.

Little by little, he felt himself relaxing even deeper against the hand behind him. In fact, by the end of it, he was almost sitting on it, with only Ryker’s hand to hold him up.

  “Ryker,” he moaned softly. “Ryker...”

“That’s it,” Ryker growled in his ears. “Take it.”

Only then did he realize that the alpha had pushed a finger beyond the entrance of his opening and was now inside him! Only slightly, but the pressure was definitely inside now.

Little by little, the pressure increased as Ryker moved his finger deeper inside Bo. It was a broad, rough finger that felt odd against his tender insides, but it was more uncomfortable than painful. After a little bit, he could almost have forgotten the finger was inside him at all, if it weren’t for how good it felt.

Except it didn’t feel good enough. He wanted the finger deeper inside him, but he could feel Ryker’s palm pressing fully against him and knew it couldn’t press any further.

  “Ryker,” he whimpered. “I need...”

The alpha bit at his neck, making him tremble. Then, the finger disappeared and was replaced once again with Ryker’s cock. It was positioned differently this time, however. Not laying between his cheeks but poised against his opening, already slightly inside.

  “Now?” Ryker growled teasingly.

  “Now!” Bo squeaked.

With one smooth thrust, Ryker slid his cock deep inside Bo’s ass. The omega squealed and arched his back for a moment as the hot, throbbing tip of Ryker’s powerful shaft finally hit that place of pleasure deep inside him.

“Relax,” Ryker said, and now the voice was very nearly a sigh. The alpha’s body trembled with restraint, but Bo could sense that he was barely holding himself back.

Bo took a deep breath and formed himself to relax again, raising up his ass once more.

And then, slowly, Ryker slid himself back out slightly and then thrust in again.

This was what Bo had always thought of as “sex.” The act of thrusting. He knew what to do, in practice, and now in instinct as he moved with the alpha, pulling away slightly and then pushing back again to meet him once more. Soft breaths huffed in and out of his lungs, increasing in speed and fervor as the alpha’s cock buried inside him made his pleasure reach new heights.

Time held still as they moved together, thrusting back and forth together. The thrusts from Ryker were hard and rough, enough to shove Bo’s whole body when their bodies slapped together.

Suddenly, without any warning, Ryker’s whole entire body went tense and Bo felt a hot jet of liquid pour inside him. A deep sense of satisfaction went through his entire body, feeling his mate’s satisfaction, but he wasn’t quite there himself.

Behind him, as Ryker’s body slowly stopped shaking, the alpha let out a husky laugh. “I forgot how hard omegas are to get off.”

Bo blushed hard, and the alpha let out another laugh before moving one hand back around to take hold of his dick again. A few more minutes of stroking, and Ryker pulled his hand away just in time to keep from getting anything on himself.

For a moment, neither of them said anything. Bo felt content and tired, not just from the sex but from his entire day. And he was also aware of his alpha’s tiredness as well, both of them completely spent.

“I bet the pizza is cold by now,” Bo murmured softly.

Ryker tossed his head back and let out another of those husky laughs. “You have a problem with cold pizza? And beer? That’s the bachelor’s diet, ain’t it?”

“Well, neither of us is a bachelor anymore, are we?”

Ryker fell silent for a moment and then sighed. It wasn’t the same sexual sigh of a few minutes ago, but one full of weight and heaviness. “I guess so. Do you drink, Bo?”

  “Nope.”

  “More for me, then.”

They ate cold, greasy convenience store pizza together while watching the TV. No conversation passed between them, but Bo didn’t really mind because he had no idea what he would have said anyway. What even was there to say? It wasn’t possible to have sex with a person the second day you knew him, and be able to have a nice evening dinnertime conversation.

Finally, he stood up and gathered their plates. “I’m tired. It’s been a long day for me.”

  “And me,” Ryker muttered.

I’m not even going to press you for the details.

“So, if you want to take my bed again?”

  Ryker coughed a little. “We’re mates, aren’t we? Shouldn’t we...share the bed?”

Bo blushed a little. As a pup, he’d often slept curled up in a heap of others. Wolves as a rule were social creatures given to displays of affection. He was no stranger to touching other people, so, why did he feel so awkward about the possibility of sleeping next to his mate?

But what else could he say? Even if
he felt awkward about sleeping together, they had just slept together. It was no time for him to get shy.

  “Okay.”

They wove awkwardly around each other, both of them repeating their own nightly routines which now clashed with the other’s. Eventually they were both standing before the bed, avoiding each other’s eyes.

  “You first,” Ryker growled.

Bo nodded and clambered up awkwardly into the bed, never more aware of how unseemly it was to crawl around on a mattress than he was right in this moment. He turned his face against the wall and stiffly held his body out straight.

After a moment, he felt the mattress shift around as Ryker climbed up behind him. The alpha was so large that he almost needed the entire bed to himself. As it was, their backs pressed together; their asses were touching. Bo shuddered at the feel of the other man’s hard ass, as ridged with muscle as every other inch of his body.

  “Good night,” Bo whispered.

“Night,” Ryker huffed, and silence fell between them.

Sleep was a very long time in coming for Bo, who couldn’t help but to still be amazed by all that happened in only a few days. There were so many things to do, now. Work, figuring out Ryker, taking the alpha to meet his parents, and adjusting to all of this himself.

All in due time, he told himself.

Still, he wished very much that that time would happen sooner.

  Chapter 6

Even before Ryker opened his eyes in the morning, he knew that he had shifted positions in the night. He was always acutely aware of these things because the smallest changes could often mean the difference between life and death. He had gone to sleep on his side but now he lay on his back, and there was a small press of heat laying almost all the way on top of him.

He took a slow, measured breath and breathed in the scent of an omega, intoxicating and sweet.

Right. Bo. We went to bed together.

Opening his eyes now that he was assured of his safety, Ryker glanced down without moving his head. The omega was tucked securely between Ryker’s arm and his side, head laying sweetly against his shoulder. His face was smooth and youthful in sleep, appearing hardly older than a high schooler.

Dammit, he swore softly, and lay his head back down on the pillow to look up at the ceiling. Strong morning light filtered in through the window, chasing the shadows of night away to the corners of the room. Everything was warm and still, although no doubt Seattle was just as grey, blustery, and bustling outside the apartment walls.

Once again, it hit him now that he had more than himself to think of. He had Bo to think of now, whether or not he wanted to. As much as he might be reluctant to take on this responsibility, he was an alpha. He was meant for this. He was meant to take on responsibility for Bo, to figure out how to their lives fit together now. However, there was still everything in his past that he now needed to take care of, or resolve somehow.

What do I want? he asked himself.

That was the question he had no answer for. Everything else seemed like it would come in time, but this was something that wouldn’t resolve on its own. He was an alpha. An alpha of alphas, a pack leader. His current position was the result of a wrong against him. Yet what had resulted from the wrong was something perceived by their culture to be infinitely right. He found his mate. This was supposed to be his home.

He could already feel it very deep inside him, even if he wanted to ignore it. It was the urge to settle down, the desire to meet with Bo’s pack and become one of them; his very nature demanded that he be amongst his own kind, and that seemed the best way to do it. In fact, he thought that he might very much like to do that. Bo was an okay guy, and it was interesting to have someone around who would fight him on subjects instead of simply doing as he said. He knew that he could very easily fall in love now and let this new path in life guide him to places where he could be contented.

But, the thing was, he had already been content before. He loved his gang. It was true. Not many gang leaders would say that about their followers, but they hadn’t only been his followers. They were his family, a replacement for the one he left behind. They were the family he had chosen, who welcomed him with open arms and accepted him for who he was. They raced the acid rain stricken streets of Seattle simply for the pleasure of it, the hiss of puddles beneath their tires. They slept in heaps according to their positions and ties with one another, and they raised the pups as though they were a single parental unit. It was, in a way, incredibly idyllic. Almost a haven.

His heart twisted in his chest with longing for his own home, nearly tearing him in half. They betrayed him. The ones he loved and cherished above all else, even above himself and his own safety, were the ones who hurt him, bit him, cast him out. He hadn’t even had a chance to properly defend himself. They broke all the customs he was so careful to uphold.

That was no way to start a new life, still broken from the old one.

  His hands tightened into fists.

It wasn’t fair to anyone, for this to have happened. It was unfair to him, and it was unfair to Bo. Who was to say that the pack was done with him? They might come back for more. Bo would be in danger, with Ryker having led the trouble right to him.

I have to resolve this. Soon. Now. Today. I’m stronger now. If I go there, they won’t be able to beat me this time.

Very slowly, he moved one hand to lay it against Bo’s side and gave an experimental push.

The omega kept his eyes shut but he stirred, breath hitching into a waking rhythm. “Stop wiggling,” the omega grunted, and then rolled over onto his side to face the wall.

Ryker could almost have purred at how cute the kid was, but he didn’t have time to lounge around and admire his mate. There would be plenty of time for that later on, when all of this was over..

Still moving slowly, he rolled off the bed and dropped onto all fours. Instinct had him shifting into a wolf as he landed, although it was a stupid gesture. He needed his hands to open the door, after all.

Turning back into a human, he padded quietly over to the bedroom door and then paused with his hand on the knob.

There was something wrong with his idea to go wandering around the city. Even if he did it as a human, and even if he successfully found a member of his old pack, he was still going to attract a great deal of attention for one very specific reason: he reeked.

It was even more apparent now than yesterday. He hadn’t really had any purpose to his wanderings yesterday, which he did as a wolf while sticking only to the darkest shadows. He simply just couldn’t stand to be cooped up inside any longer. When he was returning home and buying beer along the way, the cashier almost hadn’t sold it to him. At the time, he wondered why. Now he understood it was because he looked and smelled like a hobo.

His ragged clothes probably didn’t help. He looked like a hobo who stole the clothes off of a dead biker. That was a problem. An even worse problem was the fact that he had no other clothes.

Thwarted in his quest before it even began, Ryker let his fingers slide away from the doorknob. And then he sighed and ran one hand through his greasy, unwashed hair. “What kind of alpha am I?” he grunted.

On the bed, Bo stirred again. This time, he sat up and looked around, rubbing his eyes with one hand while the other swept over the spot on the bed where Ryker’s warmth was fading.

  “Uh...Ryker?”

  “I’m here,” he said.

Bo glanced over at him and his face lit up for a moment in pure, simple happiness. Ryker felt that odd twisting in his chest again, each time becoming more and more powerful. How would it feel to be just a normal alpha and omega, capable of simply enjoying each other’s company without needing to worry about all the rest?

“Were you going somewhere?” Bo asked, scooting his small, round ass over to the edge of the bed. He winced as he did, and Ryker barely held back a grin. He’d really given the omega a pounding last night.

Instinct told him to tell the truth. However, he knew
better than anyone that there were different gradients of truthfulness. “I was just thinking about a shower.”

Bo raised one eyebrow. “Alone? Am I not good enough for you, now?”

“That’s right,” Ryker growled teasingly. “Once and done. The end.”

Bo pouted, crossing his arms over his slim chest. “I doubt it. You’re too much of a horny jerk.”

Some of the grin he had been hiding now broke through. “I figured I would give your ass a bit of a break.”

Bo rubbed his hip. “That’d be nice, actually. Kind of sore.”

“It happens.” Ryker shrugged. “Probably going to be like that until your body gets used to it.”

That being a reason, of course, that many gay men swore off the act altogether. They simply didn’t stick with it long enough to reap all the benefits. The body took more than one time to adjust.

“I guess you can go ahead and take your shower, then.”

“Problem is it won’t matter if I put the same clothes back on.”

“Oh!” The expression on the omega’s face, already bright, suddenly became almost blinding. “Well, while you take a shower, I can go buy you some.”

This should be the other way around.

“And all I need is your size.”

“I guess that would work. When do you go into work today?”

  “Well, actually, I don’t. I’m off today.”

  Damn.

That meant he couldn’t sneak away. Or could he? Probably not.

Bo smiled shyly. His blue eyes were painfully sweet. “I was kind of hoping we could spend the day together, then. I mean, you don’t have anywhere else to go and I’m off. So if we get you some new clothes, maybe we could go for lunch or something.”

“I would like that,” Ryker said, before he could stop himself.

Bo leapt to his feet and rushed past Ryker to grab the door, tossing it open. “Great!” he yelled over his shoulder.

Ryker watched with some amusement as the omega ran down the length of the hallway and was already pulling on his shoes, when a thought seemed to occur to him and he stopped in his tracks. “Oh, wait. I still need your sizes.”
