Cade contacted his old college classmate, Tony, now working in New Orleans as a private investigator, and asked him to dig around for any dirt, no matter how small, on Kenneth Callahan. Cade also called a buddy about family law, specifically wills.

Cade searched the web and genealogy sites for George Callahan. Narrowing his search to the New York Callahan's involved in new construction and real estate, Cade shouted when he saw the results. "Jackpot, baby!"

His research provided some very interesting tidbits. George Callahan had moved to New York shortly after Rachel died. He married an American Indian woman named Suni, and they had a baby named John. John grew up to own a construction business that helped define some of the well-known architecture in Manhattan.

John also married a Native American woman and had a son named William who eventually took over the construction business after his father retired. William raised his son, James, to learn everything he knew about owning and operating a booming business. James married, and Kenneth Callahan was born. Raised in Manhattan where he learned about business from his father, he graduated college, and five years later, married Miranda Jones. Four years after that, they welcomed a bouncing baby boy named Trevor.

Cade closed his computer and digested the new revelation. Trevor was a direct descendant of George Callahan, the man who was in love with Caroline's G3 grandmother and eventually killed her. Now his G3 grandson would finally get a piece of the Fontenot fortune. Apparently, George was determined to hide from his past, but couldn't forget it. He taught his son everything he had learned, from watching Peter and Jefferson, about running a successful business. That knowledge was handed down generation after generation.

Cade stared blankly out the window, deep in thought.

So, if Kenneth Callahan was a partner in a New York firm, what happened that caused him to move halfway across the country to start over? Was Kristy's gossip right? Had he been hoodwinked by his New York partners and forced to move and become a bottom-feeder? If so, who helped him get back on his feet so quickly?

Maybe Tony would get some of those answers. The pieces were coming together. Cade smiled, pleased with his success. For now, he had just what he needed. Proof that Trevor was directly related to the man who killed Rachel Fontenot.
