“You won’t get away with this!” I probably would have said more, but Abner took that moment to deck me in the nose with that ham-sized fist of his. As my flowers spilled from my hands, and the vase shattered on the floor, the sound of Max’s scream filled my ears. I tried to move, tried to get to my bearings, but before I could, the golem slugged me again and everything faded to black.
