“So…what, you’re working for the Hell’s Heathens, now?” I hiss, thrilled.
“Yeah, I guess I am.” He grins.
Then he turns and walks toward the couches with my baby in his arms, putting his head together with Devil as they talk.
I turn to Gar, surprised to find Kyle standing beside him.
“Cute little ankle biter,” Kyle says, nodding to Ripper.
“Okay, how did you do it, you two?” I grin. “How did you get him to turn around so fast?”
“Don’t look at me.” Gar jerks his thumb at Kyle. “It was his fault. He’s the one who blabbed about us playing lookout for your fam during that whole mess with Max.”
“Uh uh.” Kyle shakes his head. “You offered him a job. Smart move, too. Now he’ll be over here all the time. It’s like having the principal follow you everywhere.”
“And now you’ll never see that kid again,” Gar adds, smiling at my dad, who’s sitting with Ripper on his lap.
“That’s okay, I’ll just bug Anne’s baby later.” He bounces off with Badger, with whom he’ll likely spend hours caught up in that video game until Vicky wakes up from her nap.
Gar takes my hand and leads me over toward my dad, taking the baby boy from him. “Come here, you. No letting Grandpa hog you while he works.”
While my dad and Devil talk shop, Gar puts his arm around me and I lift my face for a kiss while I stroke Ripper’s soft, dark, downy hair. Gar kisses me deeply on the lips.
“Thank you,” I whisper against his mouth.
“For what?” He puts his cheek against mine.
“For giving me everything I ever wanted.”
“Always, sweetheart.”
Gar isn’t Prince Charming, but he really is something so much better. He’s my man, my big, gorgeous barbarian biker in leather, and I’ve never been happier.
