She chuckled as the photographer angled the camera. “They’re going to be so disappointed they didn’t get an exclusive of the rock star wedding.”

“Tough.” His eyes took on a smoldering color as he leaned in to whisper in her ear. “I can’t wait to have you all to myself.”

His unspoken hint gave her tingles at the base of her spine.

“Perfect.” The photographer lowered the camera. “Alright, folks. We’re all done here. Congratulations on your marriage.”

Tracy relaxed her posture and shifted her weight on one foot to relieve pressure on her toes. “I wish I had chosen a lower heel to go with this wedding dress.”

“I thought you would say that. Wait right here.” Deacon led her to a seat in the gazebo before he stepped down.

Puzzled, she watched him go around the structure. “What are you doing? Everyone’s waiting for us in the other gazebo. My aunt, your father...”

“They’ll be fine. I already told the food servers they can start serving dinner.”

She tried to see him over the flower bushes. What was he up to?

He came back up the steps with a wrapped box in his hands. “It’s a little wedding present from me. Hope you like it.”

She accepted the gift box and put it in her lap. She untied the ribbon and lifted the lid to find a pair of new purple Converse sneakers. Her name, Deacon’s, and their wedding date was embroidered in small gold letters on the side of the shoes. “Deacon, this is the cutest wedding gift ever. And the most useful, ‘cause my feet are killing me.”

“I’ll help you put them on.” He got down on one knee and helped her remove the fancy white heels. He even took a few minutes to massage her feet before slipping on the much more comfortable sneakers.

Tracy laughed as she admired her new footwear. “We are definitely not a conventional couple.”

“Good. I intend to keep things that way.” He put her other shoes in the box and helped her up. “Ready to greet your fans, Mrs. Westmore?”

She slipped her arm through his. “Let’s get on with the show.”

They walked together, husband and wife, into the reception.
