Zuleika took a deep breath. "Show me." She gulped a mouthful of wine.
He laughed nervously. "As my lady commands." He shucked off his clothes until he stood naked before her. "There. My...manhood."
As it was level with her eyes, it was hard not to stare. She'd known Vardan wasn't a small man, and this part of him wasn't small, either. She concentrated hard, and found she could see the glow of what might be a spell, though certainly not one of hers. This glowed faintly blue, instead of her familiar shades of purple. She reached out and wrapped her fingers around him, feeling the pulse of his heartbeat but also the throb of what was definitely a spell.
He groaned. "If you're going to do that, I won't last long enough to consummate this marriage. Can you do something more useful with your hands, like help me unlace your gown?"
She drained her wine cup, set it on the table, and found herself in Vardan's embrace. His lips tasted of dewberry as he kissed her deeply. Between them, they managed to remove Zuleika's gown and the shift beneath it, until she stood in nothing but her silk stockings.
Vardan held her at arm's length for a moment, drinking her in. "You are the most beautiful woman I've ever seen. I hope I don't disappoint you."
He kissed her again, pulling her close. As their bare bodies touched, it felt like the lightning spell had ignited along her skin, but it hurt neither of them. They toppled sideways onto the bed, her hands caressing the hard muscles of a man for the first time in her life and she found she quite liked it. Harder still was his manhood pressed against her leg. She wrapped her hand around it again...
"Oh God, you don't know how much I want to be inside you. I love you, Lady Belle," he groaned.
...and guided him between her thighs. She gasped as he filled her, expecting to feel pain, but instead there was just the wondrous warmth of his body joined with hers, inside hers, as she urged him to show her what he meant by pleasure.
He found a perfect rhythm, surging in and out of her with as much gentleness as if it truly was her first time, as his kisses grew more heated and his hands...oh, his hands. Stroking every inch of her until she wanted to purr like a cat. But there was a different sound fighting to escape from her throat, as a sort of storm welled up inside her. Stronger than the tide, sweeping her away, she heard her own cry of joy mingling with his.
When she regained her breath, she asked, "What was that?"
Vardan chuckled. "That is what happens when a chivalrous man makes love to a woman. The lady must always come first." When he withdrew from her, she noticed that the glow around his manhood was gone, but she didn't mention it, for her glow of happiness was more than enough for both of them, she was certain.
Later that night, after they'd made love for the third blissful time, Zuleika privately decided that the courtesan's pleasure spell hadn't done much, because Vardan was such an incredible lover already. So she cuddled up to her princely husband, who was no longer a beast except in bed, which suited her just fine, and dreamily resolved that they would live happily ever after.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Demelza Carlton has always loved the ocean, but on her first snorkelling trip she found she was afraid of fish.
She has since swum with sea lions, sharks and sea cucumbers and stood on spray drenched cliffs over a seething sea as a seven-metre cyclonic swell surged in, shattering a shipwreck below.
Demelza now lives in Perth, Western Australia, the shark attack capital of the world.
The Ocean's Gift series was her first foray into fiction, followed by her suspense thriller Nightmares trilogy. She swears the Mel Goes to Hell series ambushed her on a crowded train and wouldn't leave her alone.
