“No, Zeke, I think we’re good. I’m going to take Melanie home. Will you be all right on your own for the rest of the night?”

“You got it,” he says, slapping my arm. “I’ll stay to make sure everything gets locked up.”

Turning to Mel, I glance down at her, “Come on, I’ll take you home.”

Instead of protesting she nods in agreement. Opening the door of my SUV for her, she climbs into the passenger seat and buckles herself.

The ride to her place is mostly silent until I get to her house.

“Do you want to come in?” she asks.

I don’t know if it’s her way of being nice since I gave her a ride home or if she’s scared to go in alone, so I take her up on the offer because I could see that creep having guys waiting for her inside.

“Yeah, I’ll come in for a bit.”

Shutting off the engine, I lock the doors and follow Mel to the door. Once we’re inside, I have her wait by the door with my keys in hand, but there’s no reason because the place is empty.

“Do you want a drink?” she asks.

“Yeah, I could definitely use one.”

While she’s busy making our drinks, I take a look at her house. It’s very warm and comfortable, inviting. I see some of Cam’s toys in a small tote near the edge of the couch and it makes me smile.

“Here you go,” she says, handing me a glass of wine. “Sorry, it’s all I really have unless you want something hard, but I don’t have any mixers.”

“No, this is fine,” I say.

She plops down on the couch with a loud sigh and covers her eyes with her arm. “Today was total shit,” she says.

“Yeah,” I agree with her. “Did you ever find out how your ex even knew that you were working there?”

I’d love to find out who the weasel is that ratted Mel out to her ex that caused all this commotion in the first place.

She looks at me and says, “No, and I probably won’t either. Garrett has a way of finding things out, but I never know how. I’m going to assume that it’s someone we both knew at one time, but I don’t remember ever seeing any familiar faces in there. Most of the guys I’ve seen have been complete strangers to me, except for the regulars.”

She looks so stressed as she sips her wine, but she’s still beautiful in my eyes. Drinking in her appearance, I think about how lucky that bastard was to ever have her as his wife. He never deserved something as sweet, caring and gorgeous as her.

After our third glass of wine, she seems to be feeling much better, and laughs for the first time all night. I haven’t seen her laugh in weeks, and it’s adorable.

“What?” she asks, her cheeks slightly rosy from the alcohol.

  “You’re just so pretty.”

“Get out of here,” she waves her hand as though she doesn’t believe me.

“I mean it Mel.” I scoot closer to her on the couch. “I know that we’re not supposed to have relationships at work, but I’ve had a hell of a time keeping my distance from you.”

Her rosy cheeks blush a shade darker. “I’ve felt the same way about you, too,” she admits. “At first, I thought it was a slight crush because you kind of saved my ass offering me a job working there, but the more we worked together, the more I realized that it wasn’t a crush.”

Leaning in closer to her, I can smell the red wine on her breath. It smells much sweeter than it tastes, and I want to taste it on her. Without any hesitation, I lean in and put my lips on hers.

They’re even softer than I imagined and so fucking sweet. Biting her lip, I put my hands on her waist and pull her on top of me. Within minutes, she’s straddling me as we make out and my cock is rock hard.

  “Is this okay?” she whispers.

“I’m okay if you’re okay,” I say back to her, swallowing her moans as we continue kissing.

Slipping my hands under her shirt, I pull down the cups of her bra, freeing her breasts. Rolling her nipples between my fingertips, she gasps in my ear, making me want her even more.

Dipping down, I take her nipple into my mouth as she grinds my cock and suck on it until it turns into a hardened pebble before moving onto the other side. Both of us are going insane with the built-up tension, and she begins undoing my pants.

My cock springs free, standing straight up as she bends down and takes me into her mouth. Her warm mouth feels amazing, but the way she traces my shaft with her tongue is even better. With a loud pop, she removes her mouth, exposing a pool of pre-cum, and it’s driving me crazy.

Pushing her back on the couch, I kick off my shoes and drop my pants before pulling her panties to the side. I can’t wait a second longer and take her right there.

  Chapter 21

  Melanie

His shaved cock is glistening in a combination of pre-cum and my saliva from going down on him, and my pussy is aching for him to be inside of me.

Slowly, he glides himself into me to give me a moment to adjust to his size—which I need every minute of; I figured he was big, but I had no idea he was close to ten inches with such a thick girth.

Even when I initially went down on him, my eyes widened in surprise because I’ve never been with anyone as big as him. I wondered if I’d be able to take all of him, and I came pretty close.

Filling every single inch of me, he bottoms out when he’s about half-way in, and he feels so damn good. He pulls out before pushing himself back inside me, stuffing his swollen cock back inside of me.

It doesn’t take long before I’m begging him for more. Harder, faster, and deeper he goes until my eyes are rolling back in my head. Wave after wave of orgasm rushes over me until my legs are shaking with numbness.

As I ride out the end of my orgasm, it’s enough to push him over the edge. He pulls out in a hurry since we’re not using any protection, even though I’m on the pill but we never discussed it, and shoots his hot, thick load onto my stomach.

There’s so much, but I don’t mind. Smiling at each other, I look up at him and wink.

“Does this mean I’m fired from my job?” I tease.

He arches his eyebrow and cocks his head to the side, “Nah, I’d think this would earn you a promotion.”

Giggling, I carefully get off the couch and run to the hall closet to grab a couple of towels so that the two of us can clean up.

  “You felt incredible,” he says.

“So did you,” I say, tossing the dirty towel into the clothes basket. I don’t dare tell him that he’s the biggest I’ve ever been with because I’m sort of embarrassed. I’ve only been with a total of three men, including him. Grabbing my wine glass, I take a sip to quench my thirst, and that’s when he starts putting his pants back on.

We had such a fantastic night together, despite the trouble and fight at the club, that I don’t want it to end. I linger for a moment before I bite the bullet and ask him what’s been burning in my mind ever since we finished having sex.

“Are you leaving, or did you want to stay the night?”

The moment those words leave my lips, I almost regret asking him because I’m afraid he’ll say no. I feel foolish, but I hope he says yes.

He grins at me, “Would you like me to spend the night?”

Twisting the bottom of my shirt, I bite my lip and quickly nod.

“Then I’ll stay,” he says, plopping back down on the couch. “I’ll do whatever you want me to, Mel.”

Sitting on the couch next to him, I snuggle up against him. “Thank you for protecting me,” I take my head off his chest to look him in the eye. “And thank you for kicking Garrett’s ass. I’ve been waiting for someone to do that for so long!”

He pulls me to him, kissing my forehead. “Can I tell you a secret?” he asks. “I’ve been waiting for the opportunity. I didn’t tell you this because I didn’t want you to be embarrassed, but I overheard you talking to your co-worker at the diner about him and knew from day one that he was an asshole.”

I can tell that he’s not kidding, but it makes
me wonder why he pretended not to know anything. “Then how come you asked me so many questions? Why didn’t you tell me that you knew?”

“I wanted you to tell me—when you felt comfortable enough, I mean. The last thing that I wanted to do was butt into your business, and I didn’t want you to think I was eavesdropping. You’re not the quietest, you know?”

He’s got a point, I’ve never been good at talking in a low tone or whispering. “Well, thank you.” I think about his explanation for a minute, “I mean, thank you for letting me tell you instead of butting in. I appreciate that.”

We sit on the couch talking about how crazy Garrett is until we finish our wine before heading into the bedroom to get some sleep. For the first time in a long time, I’m finally able to fall asleep peacefully knowing that Chase is by my side and that Garrett is behind bars.

The sound of shuffling and movement wakes me up as the light cascades past the curtains and blinds. Chase is awake and getting his clothes together.

Sitting up in bed, I wrap the sheets around me and shield my eyes from the light. “What are you doing?” I ask.

“Good morning, to you, too,” he smiles at me. “Can’t sleep all day, sleepy head.”

“Are you leaving?” I ask, flopping back on the bed as I attempt to stretch.

“For a little bit. I’ve got to hit the gym before work, but don’t worry, I’ll come back to give you a ride to your car.”

Moaning, I begin to whine. “Ugh, I forgot about my car.” Glancing at the alarm clock next to the bed, I see that it’s about the normal time that I to Ann’s to pick up Cam. “Hey, before you leave, can you give me a ride to Ann’s house? I usually pick up my kiddo about now.”

“Yeah, I can do that. Where does she live again?”

Climbing out of bed, I throw on a pair of capris and a t-shirt before sliding on a pair of flats. “Right around the corner. I’m ready whenever you are,” I proudly announce. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten ready to leave faster than a man.

“I’m ready whenever you are,” he retorts. He’s wearing his dress clothes from the club last night, which certainly isn’t workout gear.

Frowning, I crane my head to the side, “Is that what you’re going to wear to workout in?”

“What?” He laughs. “No, I have extra clothes in my locker; a pair of shorts and a tank top. I can’t workout in clothes like this.”

  I nod; it makes sense.

He drops me off at Ann’s place and insists on coming in to meet her and Cam. I’m excited and nervous at the same time. In all the time that Ann and I have been friends, I’ve never introduced her to a guy that I was….sleeping with, because I’ve not dated anyone since my divorce. But things with Chase feel so right that it’s almost scary how right they feel.

“Are you sure you want to come in to meet her and Cam?” I ask one last time, hoping he’ll change his answer so I’ll be off the hook for at least one more day.

“I’m sure. I can’t wait to meet two of the most important people in your life.”

Why does he have to be so perfect? How did I get so lucky to run into him after all these years, and he feel the same way? And not only that, but he’s still just as handsome as ever before, he’s smart, sweet, cocky, and bad ass.

“Okay, but consider this your warning,” I say as we approach Ann’s apartment.

Ann opens the door and smiles her usual sweet smile, “Hey, you’re right on time—,” she stops dead in her tracks as she gets a look at Chase who’s standing behind me. “Well, who do we have here?”

“Ann, this is Chase,” I motion toward her. “And Chase, this is Ann, my best friend and babysitter.”

Rushing to the door at the sound of my voice, Cam wraps his arms around my legs, “Mommy!” he says.

“Hey, baby,” I squat down to give him a hug and kiss. “I missed you!”

“Who’s that?” he points to Chase.

“This is mommy’s friend. His name is Chase.”

Cam smiles real big, showing off all of his tiny baby teeth. “You mean just like Paw Patrol?!”

“Yep, just like the Chase from Paw Patrol,” he speaks up.

It surprises me to know that he knows what Cam’s talking about since he doesn’t have any kids. Looking up at him in wonder, he offers an explanation as though he can read my mind. “What? I like watching Nickelodeon,” he shrugs.

“Well, come on in. Let’s not stand here all day. I’ve got a cake coming out of the oven,” Ann says.

“Sorry, I just wanted to come up for a quick hello. I’ve got to get going.” He turns to me, and gives me a hug. “I’ll see you later, okay?”

I nod and smile, “Okay. Text me when you’re on your way.”

With a quick peck on the cheek, he turns around and leaves the three of us standing in Ann’s doorway. As soon as he’s out of sight, she grabs my arm and yanks me inside the house.

“Girl, spill it! I know that the two of you had s-e-x,” she spells out the last word so Cam doesn’t know what it is.

“What? How? I mean, why would you say that?”

I can’t stop myself from giggling and blushing. It must be so obvious that it’s written all over my face.

“Yes, we had s-e-x last night, but let me tell you what happened first!”

I go into the whole story about how Garrett showed up and was waiting for me in the parking lot, and told her how he had a death grip on me until Chase came and put an end to it all.

“Damn, girl! How did you not call me last night to tell me that any of this was happening?” Then she cuts herself off, “Oh yeah, you were busy,” she thrusts her hips.

“Shhh,” I say, making sure Cam didn’t see her. “You are so bad,” I laugh.

“You’re the bad one! But hell, you deserve it. Come here,” she wraps her arms around me, squeezing me tight. “I’m happy for you. He seems like a nice guy, and he’s damn cute, too. If I would’ve known that’s who you were dressing for at work, I would’ve put you in much skimpier outfits.”

We both get a good laugh out of that because she sent me practically wearing nothing to work in the first place.

“So, what’s the plan?” she asks.

  “What plan?”

“He said he’d see you later, and you told him to text you,” she reminds me.

“Oh! After everything that happened last night at the club, I was a bit too shaken to drive home. And to be honest, I was kind of scared to go home by myself, so Chase took me home and made sure I was okay.”

Taking the cake out of her oven, she stands up, placing it on the stove and says, “Sounds like he made sure you were all right.”

“Oh, stop it!” I throw her potholder at her. “He’s going to come back for me to take me to my car.”

Sitting down at her table, she grabs her coffee and takes a sip from the steaming mug. “Do you think you two will end up being anything serious?”

  Shrugging, I say, “I don’t know, but I hope so. He’s a good guy.”

  Chapter 22

  Chase

After my workout at the gym, I took a shower to clean up before I left. Now that I’m on my way to pick Mel up from her friend’s house, I stop at a gas station and pick out a small bouquet of flowers for her and grab a chocolate bar for her son. I have yet to meet a kid that doesn’t like chocolate.

Pulling up in front of the apartment, I send her a text to let her know that I’m here before I get out of my SUV, armed with flowers and candy for her and the kid.

They beat me to the building and are already coming out to greet me.

“Hey!” I say to them. Melanie spotted the flowers the instant she stepped foot onto the parking lot and grinned from ear to ear. “These are for you,” I say, handing them to her. “And this is for you,” I give Cam the chocolate bar.

He gasps and jumps up and down, “Can I eat it, mom? Can I eat it now?”

She laughs and nods her head, “Yes, you can eat it now, but go inside so it doesn’t melt.” H
e takes off running back into Ann’s apartment with his candy. “Thank you. You didn’t have to do all of this,” she says.

“I know, but I wanted to. Are you ready to go back to get your car? I need to get in there and get things going.”

The two of us jump into my vehicle and head back to the club. I’m not dressed in my normal work clothes, so after I open the club and get things running there, I’m going to have to swing by my place to grab some slacks and a button down shirt.

I’m shocked to see that Zeke’s still at work, and I’m almost concerned. He said he was going to close the place, but he shouldn’t still be here. At the very least, I thought that my sister might be here but her car’s nowhere in sight. I’m relieved because I could only imagine the hell I’d pay if she knew that I took Mel home last night.

“What’s wrong?” Melanie asks as I pull in and eye the parking lot.

“I don’t know. Zeke’s still here, and he shouldn’t be. He should’ve closed up this morning and gone home.” I put the car in park and tell Mel to wait in the parking lot until I know everything’s okay.

“No, don’t leave me out here alone,” she pleads. Her eyes look so lost and helpless. I can’t leave her sitting by herself, not after the night that she went through last night.

I sigh, “All right, come on but stay close to me. Okay?”

She nods and slides across the seat, getting out on the drivers side. “I’m not leaving your side for anything right now,” she says, grabbing a hold of my t-shirt as she follows me into the club.

The lights are off, which is odd. If Zeke’s still here for some reason, he should have the lights on. Slowly, we approach the door and I pull it open. Moaning is filling the air, but it sounds female.

Mel and I round the corner and walk all the way inside, and that’s when I see my sister lying on top of the bar with her legs in the air as Zeke fucks her senseless.

  “What the hell?” I say.

It’s enough to make the two of them completely stop, and I see my sister’s round googly eyes popping out of her head as she peers around Zeke’s body.
