about 3 kids a piece. The fourth was an Asian women with a little girl, tucked away in the corner looking like she was only there in body, but her mind and spirit were some where else.
They all smiled as the counselor introduced Lacey and Nikki. Lacey noticed ine of the sisters in the room looking at her extra careful. She didn't understand why she was almst checking her out. Was this one of those ghetto games, to see if she would be intimadated, or was she just showing affection to another damaged women coming to get help? Lacey was unsure, but she refused to appear worried, threatened by it.
She was turned over to that very sister, known as, "Daddy", because she is floor captain, and she is one of the clients that have been in the shelter the longest, and because of some other things Lacey will find out. The counselor left Lacey to get settled in. The rooms are cluttered with bunk beds, max 2 for each family. The top bunk lays flat like a bed, while the bottom one looks more like a sofa, Lacey now has her new home, and a new life that keeps going places she never imagined.
Fresh meat
When Lacey and Nikki walked in the room, the two sisters started talking before they introduced themselves:
"Wow, Daddy looks like you have some fresh meat coming in.
Young and only one kid, and she is pretty for a dark skinned girl.
You think you're going to be able to flip this one?"
"You know my game is strong, I turned you out, now ain't that right bitch?"
"Oh bitch you weren't the first, you might want to think that, but I was feeling that way before I even met your happy ass."
"Yeah OK, feeling it, but nobody got the pussy until me, so my point still stands."
"Yes, they call be Daddy, but my real name is, Carlehtal. I'm trying to live out of the closet, as an open Gay. But everyone is trying to push me back in. They call me, Daddy because I protect those I care about, with the tenderness of a Mother, but I hit hard like a Father. I had to do it all, so now I can do it all."
"Hello people this is Lacey and her daughter Nikki, we all know why she's here, and we all know she's going to make a great transition with everybody's love and care."
Daddy seized her oppurtunity, "damn right, nobody is going to hit, or hurt you in here. That's why they call me, Daddy. I'm the floor captain, and I look after my people." "Then why don't they call you Mommy then?" Lacey asked, trying to figure out the gender confusion. "Well, I got this reputation from some people in the neighborhood, people messing with some girls in the shelter. I fought some of them like a dude would, so they say, I'm not Mommy, but Daddy. I hit to hard to be a Mommy.
"Shit, my Old Man was like 6'5", and about 300 pounds, and he used to box. That Nigga would beat me like a man, so that's how I learned to fight like a man. He would have killed me before I left, if I didn't learn a knuckle game of my own. He was drunk all the time, that helped me also. Eventually, he would just get tired, and pass the fuck out from all the beer, weed and cocaine in his system."
"Yeah, that sounds like Chris, but he wouldn't fall asleep until he fucked me first, after he had come home from fucking somebody else. I had to sit there and smell her still on him, while I smelled beer and weed also."
"Yeah I know, these niggas out here are a trip. They just keep fucking over sister after sister, like they're at war with us. Why do they hate us so much? And, you know their sons grow up to be the same. I got two boys and all I wanted is for them not to hurt another women like their father hurt me. It seems like the ones that don't hit you, are the ones that don't want you, the fags. Us girls better stick together, don't you think so, Lacey?"
Things moved fast for Lacey, she settled right in, and Nikki was loving all the kids to play with.To Nikki, the Shelter was a ball. Lacey signed up for the Retail Management course, and she started going to the group session where she got a chance to get things off of her chest, but the most important was the feeling of belonging she got from the group. Her roommates became like the sisters she never had, wow it seemed like a view of heaven, while looking up from hell.
I've found you
One day during group Lacey was called to the phone in the office, she had not received a phone call yet and she was so surprised by it. She answered the phone, never expecting it to be Chris:
"So, quess what? It's me and I found you."
"Chris, how the hell."
"Lacey, why did you do me like that?
I mean, I know we had our problems, but we could of worked them out some how.
So I just don't understand, why?"
Chris was drunk, and it sounded like he had been crying.
"Why? You got the nerve to ask me that, after what you were doing to me."
"You know what, Lacey, you're right, you're right baby.
I can't stop thinking about that R. Kelly song, "When a Women is feed up", when I think about you.
I know things were hard for you.
It was hard for me too. I was always tired from working so much, and I never had any money in my pocket. I'd come home to hear you fussing at me. What I was doing was never enough for you, or the baby. Hitting you was a way to get some peace, some control; it made me feel powerful. I realize that now. I am not calling to track you down, or to threaten you. It's just that I miss you and the baby.
Just wanted to say hi, and maybe things will still work out for us oneday."
Lacey felt like a weight was dropped on her heart, she even felt a little guilty now for leaving. Lacey knows Chris is a charmer though, but something in her likes falling victim to it.
"Look Lacey, you know I'm not that person either, you know that wasn't me."
"All I know who's hand print, I had up against my face, and who's foot was up my ass.
And you're calling me now drunk, so things haven't changed much I see."
Lacey is not sure who is on the phone, Chris has a tendency to become sentimental, emotional and reflective when he drinks. He also has away of returning to normal when the booze buzz wears off. She has heard many drunk promises, only to see them dry up when Chris became sober.
"Are you still at the apartment?"
"No."
"What, you went back home with your parents?"
"No, I'm staying with this female from the job."
Lacey wanted to cry, but she got to angry to do so.
"Gotdamnit, you couldn't wait two weeks, you Motherfucker."
"What? Aw come on now Lacey, I had no choice. I lost my part time job, and couldn't play the rent there. I hated going into that place without you and the baby. This chick from work offered me a spot with her, and it just happened."
"OK, so tell me you weren't fucking her when we were still together. Go ahead and lie to me now. Damn that whore, I know just the type of bitch, a man hunting whore. Bitch just waits for a chance to get some one else's Nigga."
Even though, she may hate Chris now, she still loves him.
Sade said that love was stronger than pride
You opened up my heart so wide
Your love was like taking a glide
to heaven
Being by your side, happy was magnified by seven
It's so hard to let go, even though, now I know
you're not right for me
I still want you right by me
I want you every night with me
I want others to see the sight of me
With you my pride died when I met You.
Chris didn't say anything else, and Lacey just banged on him. He took a long waited for sip of beer, and started to sing in his best R. Kelly voice, "When a women is fed up, it's like running out of love. La La La,...La La La La, she don't want you no more..."
Lacey went back to the group room to get Nikki, but she wasn't there. She went back to the room and the mothers getting ready for bed. Daddy had taken Nikki with her kids. Daddy noticed Lacey was upset, so she waited for things to quiet down before approaching her. The lights were off and Daddy made her way over to Lacey's bunk. "Hey baby, I noticed you seemed upset when yo
u came in, looked like you had been crying. What's the matter?"
"Chris called, that was him on the phone. He finally tracked me down. He tried to play like he was sorry, but the muther fucker is already staying with another chick. I'm in a Shelter feeling like I'm a reject, and he basically has all the comforts of home, with some new pussy to go with it.
"I told him, I know he was doing her when I was still with him; and he thinks shit between us can still work out, ha." "Girl, I told you how these men are, especially ours. Don't pay him no mind. You ran to start a new life, so don't walk back to a bad situation, keep moving, keep running.
"You know how the Big Show says, "everything is going to be alright". There is something out there better for us, we just have to be open minded and ready to receive it."
Daddy got up and brushed Lacey's hair back, with a very loving caress, then she kissed Lacey on the lips. Lacey paid it no mind at first, because it reminded her of how her mother would put her to sleep.
The weeks went on and Lacey was loving her retail management courses, it was like being in college almost. She still had not found a job, but was getting public assistance, Nikki was still acting like she was at summer camp with all the kids to play with. Every night Daddy would stop by the bunk and they would talk until they fell asleep, sometimes right next to each other. Daddy would often, brush Lacey's hair back with a loving hand stroke and kiss her on the forehead.
The seduction
One night when Daddy was acting like she was leaving to go to sleep, she started to brush Lacey's hair back, and kiss her. But, this time Daddy didn't stop there. She kept kissing her from her forehead down her cheek, then unbuttoning her pajamas and kissing her breast. Lacey felt a rush of intimacy that had been missing since her relationship with Chris went bad. She was horrified and wanted to stop it, but the closesness was just to healing to a women with damaged emotions to stop.
Daddy then went right for the sweet spot, pulling down her bottoms just enough to start softly licking her vagania, while at the same time reaching up to carresse Lacey's breast. The pleasure starting blocking out Lacey's thoughts and she was not going to do anything to stop it now.
Daddy stood over Lacey after Lacey's eruption, she smiled at Lacey. Lacey didn't say anything, Daddy laid next to her and they fell asleep, with Daddy holding Lacey. Lacey hadn't been held like that in a while, and it felt to healing for her to question its justification.
In the morning Daddy made sure to act like everything was normal, like what happened last night was normative and not deserving of comment. The word Lesbian came into Lacey's mind, she understood why they called her Daddy now, but the shame and fear of the word wasn't there anymore. After the children were taken to the day care center, and the girls went to get ready for their daily activities. Lacey went into the shower and Daddy followed; Lacey just looked at Daddy and they went into the same stall. A staff member noticed it, and closed the door so no one else would see, while thinking to herself, "oh shit Daddy is up to it again."
Lacey wanted Daddy to make her feel the way she felt last night, she just stood there waiting, and Daddy got on her knees fingering Lacey hard and rhymic. Lacey again didn't think about the word Lesbian, but the word sex and orgasm was on her mind. She was taking a journey to a new place, there was no such thing as right or wrong, just the essense of the moment. Lacey turned the water up to muffle her moans, while Daddy was trying to force as much of her whole hand and arm into Lacey. Daddy then penetrated Lacey anally with her fingers and Lacey let the shower water run into her mouth to stop her from screaming.
In the days, and weeks after what happened that night between Lacey and Daddy,
