Bram hated seeing the hell that his friend was going through, but all he could do was to offer his support and aid in hunting for information.
Knowledge was power, and Bram strongly suspected Stratton knew far more than he was letting on.
The Fae stopped by more than Bram liked. Often, he and Marcy would talk for hours upon hours about the Fae and the Nightshade Clan. Marcy hung on Stratton’s every word.
It annoyed Bram and his demon.
We should kill him, said the demon. But first, we’ll enjoy this bath with our mate.
Bram chuckled.
Marcy glanced over her shoulder at him. “How about we not kill Stratton, okay?”
I take back everything I said about being thrilled she can hear me talk to you, said the demon, sounding amused.
It had been as happy as Bram for the past month.
She made them feel whole. Not to mention mating with her had included other perks, like being able to hold the rosary, eat small portions of human food rather than living off blood alone, and a slight resistance to the sun.
Bram was also sure he had additional white hairs sprinkled through his temples. Marcy accused him of being ridiculous. He wasn’t sure how he felt about aging since it had been off the table for so long. Outliving his daughter and his wife was unthinkable. He hoped he was right—that he was aging at an almost normal rate. That would mean he could grow old with his loved ones.
“I keep feeling like I’m forgetting something,” she said.
He wrapped his arms around her waist and then cupped her breasts, making her laugh softly. “I’m sure it’s nothing.”
“I thought we agreed to relax in the tub,” she said, a teasing note in her voice. “You’ve been working so much that it’s important you unwind.”
He hummed against her ear. “Mmm, I consider this relaxing.”
She put her hands over his. “I bet you do.”
Bram kissed her shoulder as he kneaded her breasts.
Marcy pulled his hands down, causing him to whimper.
She laughed as she moved away from him, only to turn in the tub, so she was facing him. She then crawled onto his lap, putting her breasts near his mouth. “How about this? Does this help you relax more?”
He nodded, no doubt appearing overly eager, but he didn’t care. This was the absolute best possible way to unwind.
She grinned. “I’ve been meaning to ask you something.”
“Yes?” He found it hard to look away from her breasts.
“In your study, there is a big box of pictures of me,” she said.
He tensed and tried to think of something to say that would sound better than the truth. “Um, about that…”
Dying to hear your explanation for this, Van Helsing, said the demon.
“I, well, you see… I might have…” he stammered, his mind blank.
Marcy licked her lower lip. “Honey-bear, are you making me a scrapbook like the ones in the vault?”
The next he knew, he was nodding. “Uh, yes?”
She beamed. “You are the sweetest! So thoughtful! I love it.”
The demon felt as if it were doing its all to keep from laughing and being heard by Marcy.
She frowned. “Oh, no. I ruined the surprise, didn’t I?”
Bram just sat there, speechless as Marcy initiated a scorching kiss.
“Thank you,” she said, biting his lip lightly. “I love you.”
He grinned and kissed the tip of her nose. “I love you too.”
She swayed on him to the beat of the sad song. “Mmm, The Carpenters always put me in the mood for hanky-panky.”
Note to selves, said the demon. Have Austin load nothing but The Carpenters into the music playing contraption.
Marcy chuckled. “Fun!”
The moment she began to grind on his lap, he was done for. With one arm, he lifted her enough to take hold of himself and line up with her body. He then lowered her onto him, savoring the feel of her.
Marcy took over, moving on him as they went for each other’s mouths.
For a second, Bram thought he heard Elis’s voice in the other room, but that was absurd. Elis knew better than to interrupt Bram’s alone time with Marcy.
Marcy continued to move on him, striking the perfect rhythm, drawing pleasure from him while taking some for herself.
His fangs distended, and he sank them into her tender breast, his mouth instantly filling with her blood. Unable to hold back any longer, Bram grabbed her hips and lifted her up and down on him, going until he was about to explode.
Marcy cried out softly, holding his head to her chest as he drank from her. Her long blonde hair fell from its clip and hung like a curtain around them. She stiffened on him, and he knew she’d found her bliss.
Releasing her breast, he licked the puncture marks and drove in deep, holding there, finding paradise in her once again. He would never tire of her.
Ever.
She let out a breathy chuckle in his ear before kissing his lips, still on his lap.
“And I’m telling you I was supposed to meet Marcy at the Proctor House for Nonna to show us some witchy something or other. Marcy was a no show,” said Dana from the master bedroom. “Where is my dad? Is he in his study—again? I swear all he does is work.”
Bram froze as the door to the bathroom opened rapidly. He locked gazes with his daughter from across the large room.
The next Bram knew, Elis and Austin were entering, tripping in, and nearly falling.
Elis righted himself and twisted. When he spotted Bram and Marcy in the tub, he jerked around. “Shit. Sorry. I tried to stop her. She didn’t let me get a word in edgewise. I find she listens as well as you do.”
Bram’s first instinct was to stand and usher Dana from the room. Remembering he was naked, he stayed where he was, mortified.
Marcy didn’t seem the least bit bothered by Dana barging in. She exhaled loudly and smiled wide. “Hey, buttercup, I knew I was forgetting something. I should have tied a string around my finger.”
Bram couldn’t look away from Dana as his face reddened and he thought of all the ways he could run headfirst at a stake to end his existence.
We should seek the sun, said the demon. Never mind. I forgot it won’t kill us now.
Austin leaned toward Dana. “Turns out, your dad was in something other than his study.”
“Out!” shouted Bram.
Elis nodded and hurried away.
Austin didn’t move. Instead, his gaze was glued to Marcy as she boldly stood, unconcerned with being naked. Bubbles and water streamed off of her curves as she stepped out of the tub.
“Austin, can you hand me my robe?” she asked, like it was just another day.
Bram growled at Austin, who stood there catching flies with his mouth open.
“Dude!” said Elis loudly from the bedroom. “He’s going to kill you.”
“I’ll die a happy man,” said Austin.
Elis shot back in and grabbed Dana gently by the elbow, steering her out of the bathroom.
Austin remained.
Now that his daughter was no longer in the room, Bram stood to his full height, glowering at the young slayer.
Austin’s gaze slid lower on Bram, centering on his groin. His eyes widened more. “Wow. So, shoe size does line up with—”
“Get out!” shouted Bram, louder than before. He stepped out of the tub, looking around for his pants.
Austin left.
Marcy faced Bram. “Honey-bear, you don’t have to be so grumpy. We should have asked if anyone wanted to join us in the bubble bath.”
He set his gaze on her. “I love you. I would do anything for you. However, I draw the line at bathing with others.”
She shrugged. “Like father, like daughter. I’ve not been able to sell her on it yet either.”
With a shake of his head, Bram grabbed his mate’s hand and drew her back against him. He wrapped his arms around her, rocking their bodies in place, enjoying the stol
en moment.
Marcy rubbed his arms. “I love hugs.”
“And I love hugging you,” said Bram.
