Someone outside shouted. There then came the loud thuds of someone running. A man appeared in the room; a Devil Code member.
Zach regarded him. “What is it, Ichabod?”
“There’s been a message delivered to us… and I think you should listen to it.”
“Play it.”
Ichabod walked to the dresser and set a small disk on its surface. A blue image shot up and floated above; a hologram of a cloaked woman with her face concealed in shadow.
I had a good idea of whom it was.
Zach’s face turned ashen.
The woman spoke in a smooth voice, “First, you killed my youngest, now you have slain my twins. I cannot stand by and watch you destroy anyone else in my family. I cannot let you cause any more pain. So, it is with great anger in my heart I am declaring war on Devil Code, the Gamer’s Guild and everyone you’ve ever met. And with utter hatred I tell you this; beware a mother’s wrath.”
