I breathed heavily as his hand slid between my legs, stroking my pussy with the tips of his fingers.

“You get so fucking wet,” he said, his voice low and gruff when his fingers found my slit, felt how soaked I was. “God, I can’t wait to be inside of you.”

“Now,” I said to him, starting to unbutton his shirt. He nodded and stripped out of it, tossing it to the ground. He stripped himself of his pants until he was naked on top of me, his body all hard lines and muscle. I put my hands on his chest to feel him, to relish his body in a way I hadn’t done with Xavier. He sat up then and pulled me onto his lap so I was straddling him, his cock pressed to my pussy lips below. I immediately started to rub against him, so hungry for him I could hardly bear to wait. But every time I tried to fit him inside of me, he stopped me, instead wrapping his arms around my waist and kissing me in a way that was slow and deep.

“I don’t want you to regret this,” he said.

“I won’t,” I promised him, knowing it was true.

He lifted my hips, aiming his cock inside of me. I eagerly sank down on top of it, taking him deep, taking him fully, as deep as I could. I started to rock on his lap, looking him in the eye between the times he kissed me, his mouth hot and filthy. It was different to the way he was fucking me from below, lifting his hips gently, his hands on my own to guide them in a slow rhythm with his own. He felt thick inside of me, like he was stretching me completely. I couldn’t stop looking into his eyes, riding his lap, my legs wrapped around his hips as if I could take him any deeper.

“Why didn’t I find you years ago?” he asked me, in a voice that was so tender it took my breath away. He pushed my hair back from my face and sucked on my lip. “I should have been spending every moment of my life with you.”

The words made my heart flutter in my chest, made my breath catch in my throat.

“You can spend the rest of it with me,” I told him, the words spilling from my lips before I had a chance to stop them. Somehow, so quickly, I knew I meant every word. He nodded with a smile, kissing me, flipping me onto my back. He took my legs and put them over his shoulders, sinking into me again. I felt so open, so vulnerable to him in a way that only made me hotter as I took his cock over and over again. His movements were slow and languid, as if he was trying to take as much time as he could buried deep inside of my pussy. I could feel him losing control though, my hand on his chest, feeling his heart pounding, his breathing ragged.

“God, I never want to stop,” he said. “You feel so good. I could fuck you forever, angel.”

I kissed him in response, the words sending a rush of pleasure through me. I sped my hips up beneath his, rocking against him, wanting it hard and fast and deep. He did two of those things for me, but didn’t move quickly, instead riding against me while his fingers touched my clit, rubbing along either side of it. His movements were slow and decadent, and when I came it seemed to go on and on, drawn out by the gentle way he touched me. He kept going, though I could feel his cock throbbing inside of me, ready to come.

Somehow, he drew it out for a long time after that, holding himself back, occasionally speeding up just to get me higher. He preferred to go slow, I could tell, and I delighted in the luxurious way it made me feel, like I was being worshipped by him. When he finally came, he was buried deep inside of me, something I normally wouldn’t have cared for but felt so right in this situation.

He lingered inside of me for a moment before pulling out, then flipped our bodies over so I was lying on top of him. I smiled and touched his face. The stubble on his cheeks always looked so good by the end of the day.

“What do you think?” he asked. I was glad that he didn’t get up afterward, that he didn’t want to leave.

“I think you’re too good for me,” I said.

“Don’t ever say that,” he said in a soft voice. “Never, ever.”

“Okay,” I said to him, kissing him softly. “What are we going to do about work?”

He stared up at me. “I don’t care about work.”

“Does that mean you don’t want to talk about it?” I asked him.

“It means that I don’t want to stop seeing you no matter what.”

“Me neither,” I said to him, well aware of what this meant, how much trouble it was to get involved with him. I thought about Xavier again and a twinge of guilt spread through me. He read it on my face and seemed to know exactly what was on my mind.

“I’ll talk to Xavier,” he said, though there was worry on his face.

“You two are close, aren’t you?”

“He’s like a brother to me.”

I bit my lip. “I really don’t want to ruin that, Louis.”

“You won’t. Nothing will,” he said, although he didn’t seem convinced. “I’ll talk to him.”

“Okay,” I said. He kissed me again and I smiled at him, nipping at his lip.

“Will you spend the night?” I asked him.

“Yes,” he said immediately. I rolled off him and took him by the hand, leading him into my bedroom, where we crawled in together and wrapped our bodies around each other, fucking again in that slow luxurious away before we both fell asleep.

  Xavier

I gaped around the office, staring at the walls, which were smeared with something that looked like paint. The word ‘slut’ was written in red on the wall in the lobby multiple times, scrawled in messy handwriting. I stared at it, glancing back at the door, wondering how in the hell somebody had gotten in. It was then I noticed the light was on in Jeremiah’s office. I knocked on the door and when it opened, Zachary was standing there, a smirk on his face.

“Did you do this?” I asked him.

“Of course not,” he said in a snide voice. “Why would I do something like that?”

I stared at him, narrowing my eyes. Not only did I not like him, but I didn’t believe a word he said. “What are you doing here so early?”

“Decided to get a head start on my work,” he said.

“You didn’t think to call the cops or one of us? Somebody broke in here.”

“I called Jeremiah,” he said. “He told me he’d deal with it when he got here.”

I sighed in exasperation, looking at him seriously.

“If I find out you did this, Zachary—”

“What, you’re going to tell the board on me? After all you’ve done?”

“Excuse me?” I said, my heart beating fast when I thought about Victoria, what we’d done. The elevator dinged behind me and I looked over my shoulder to see Jeremiah, his eyes on the wall, a distasteful look on his face.

“Wonder who they’re talking about,” Zachary said, and I looked at him to see that smirk on his face again. I opened my mouth to speak but Jeremiah cut me off by putting his hand on my shoulder and pushing me aside.

“Take care of this, would you, Xavier? Zachary and I are working on something important and I’m afraid it will take most of the day. We need all the time we can get.”

I said nothing, my jaw tight as he shut the door in my face. I went into my office and called the police, letting them know what had happened. I went back out to the lobby to see Louis and Victoria coming off the elevator together. They were both smiling, laughing with each other until they noticed the word scrawled on the lobby wall. Victoria’s face went pale and she exchanged a glance with Louis before looking at me.

  “What is this?”

“Found it here this morning. Someone must have broken in,” I said.

“Was there any sign of a break in?”

“No,” I said. “But the building is old and the security is shit. We’ve been meaning to update it for ages, but this is a pretty safe area. I guess we didn’t think that something like this could happen.”

Victoria said nothing, swallowing hard. I could tell she was tense and upset, and thought again about what I’d done with her. If I’d somehow caused this, I would never be able to forgive myself. I didn’t even know if it had anythin
g to do with her—for all I knew, it could be random. But the way Zachary had said it made me think that it wasn’t, that it had something to do with what we’d done.

“Do you know anything about this?”

“How would she know?” Louis asked.

I stared at him with my eyebrow raised. He sounded defensive, and I noticed that they were standing close to each other, closer than was normal. I wondered what was going on there, if anything. The thought that there might be something between them put a knot in my stomach that I couldn’t explain, one I forced away.

“I don’t,” Victoria said. “No—I have no idea.”

“Okay,” I said. “The cops are on their way, I—”

“The cops?” Victoria asked, her eyes going wide as if she hadn’t realized that it was a possibility.

“Yes,” I said to her. “It was a break in, Victoria. We have to call the cops.”

“Okay,” she said in a small voice, and I almost regretted making the choice. I knew she was embarrassed, but there was nothing that I could do about it.

“You don’t have to talk to them. Go ahead and get to work,” I said to them both.

Louis nodded. “Let me know if you need me,” he said, and they disappeared into the office.

I watched over my shoulder for a moment, noticing how she slipped past him through the door, how his hand had touched her waist for a moment. He met my eye over her shoulder but looked away from me, closing the door behind them.

The cop arrived and stared at the wall, an almost bored look on his face. He was alone and he gave me a plain look when I approached him.

  “You the owner?”

“Yes,” I said to him. “My name is Xavier Kyle.”

“You said you found it like this early this morning?”

“Yes,” I said. “There was someone else here when I got here, I—”

“I’m afraid that Mr. Kyle is mistaken,” came Jeremiah’s voice from behind me. He joined us then, smiling cordially at the police officer. “He was the first person here this morning.”

“No,” I said firmly. “Zachary was here when I got here. He called you.”

A look of surprise passed over Jeremiah’s face.

“He didn’t call me,” he said innocently. “Mr. Badger wasn’t here when I arrived this morning. Was it possible that you just heard something else? This is an old building. It tends to settle.”

I stared at Jeremiah. “Jeremiah, I—”

“Look,” said the cop impatiently. “Just tell me what’s going on here. Was this man here or not?”

“He was,” I insisted. Jeremiah shook his head.

“You can ask everybody else. Louis and Victoria are here. They can tell you that they didn’t see Zachary, either. He just came up a few moments ago.”

I couldn’t even say anything. I was in disbelief at his outward lies, at the fact he was boldly misleading the cop. I closed my mouth and said nothing. It was true Louis and Victoria hadn’t seen Zachary this morning, that I was the only one who could verify he was here.

“Look, you’re obviously having some sort of trouble here. I’m going to go ahead and file a report, but don’t waste my time. It was probably just some kids from the neighborhood. There’s been graffiti all up and down these buildings—kids coming from over on 57th.”

“Fine,” I said to him blankly. He left after a few minutes and I turned to Jeremiah.

“Come into my office, Jeremiah. Now.”

He grinned at me but did as I said, going straight to my bar to pour himself a drink. I snatched it from him and downed it myself before slamming it back on the bar.

“What are you doing?” I asked him.

“Zachary didn’t have anything to do with that graffiti. There was no reason to get him involved.”

“Who else could have done it?” I asked. “He was here. Why did you lie to that cop?”

“Zachary is working on a special project. The board wouldn’t like it if he got in trouble right now. I’m just doing what’s best for this company. It could have been anyone who vandalized the lobby—why don’t you ask Victoria?”

“Victoria?” I asked, a sinking feeling in my stomach.

“I’m just guessing that she’s a part of this.”

  “Why?”

“Somebody’s probably mad that she spreads her legs for anything that moves,” Jeremiah said.

I was on him in a moment, grabbing him by the collar, shoving him up against the door.

“Say anything like that one more time and I will knock your ass out, got it?”

He laughed. “She’s got both of you wrapped around her finger. Must be good in the sack.”

  “Both of us?”

“You and Louis. Two out of three of her bosses? No wonder someone’s mad. Maybe it was Louis, actually.”

“What are you talking about?” I asked him dully.

“You know what I’m talking about,” he said. “You fucked the new employee. Both of you.”

I said nothing. There was nothing to say.

“I’m thinking about bringing this to the board. They’d be interested to know how deeply you’ve already violated our code of ethics. Even if they couldn’t push you out, Victoria would be out on her ass, and nobody in this area is going to hire her. You can be sure of that.”

  “What do you want, Jeremiah?”

“Zachary is going to become Junior Partner. Next year he’ll be promoted to partner.”

I stared at him, then started to laugh.

“That is ridiculous,” I said to him. “We don’t have junior partners.”

“We’re going to have one,” said Jeremiah. “And I want him to lead on the Walker case. I know that Louis is on that, so I’ll let him know as well.”

“This isn’t going to happen, Jeremiah,” I said to him through gritted teeth.

“If it doesn’t, Victoria is ruined,” Jeremiah said. “She’s lucky I don’t try to take my turn.”

“Get the fuck out,” I spat and let him go.

He laughed again and disappeared out the door.

I pinched the bridge of my nose, pacing back and forth in my office. Again, I cursed myself for what I’d done with Victoria. I knew that I needed to tell her what was happening but I dreaded doing so. I went to Louis’s office and knocked on the door, peering in after a moment to see them both working quietly at their desks. For some reason, I was relieved to see they were across the room from each other.

“Can I speak to you for a moment?” I asked Victoria. She looked over at Louis, then back at me, standing up. I wanted to talk to her alone at first before I explained the situation to Louis, wanted to warn her about what was happening. She followed me into my office and I closed the door, my eyes meeting hers. As usual, a heat flared up inside of me when I looked at her face, at the nervous look on her features.

“What happened with the cop?” she asked.

“Jeremiah told them that Zachary wasn’t here this morning but he was. I’m pretty sure he’s the one who did it.”

She shook her head, glancing down at the floor.

“He’s not,” she said. “My brother is.”

  “Your brother?”

“It’s a long story,” she said, crossing her arms over her chest. “Is that—is that all you wanted to tell me?”

“No,” I said, sighing. “No, there’s more. Jeremiah knows about us, about what happened.”

She gave me a blank look. “Zachary must have told him.”

“How does Zachary know about that night?” I asked her.

“He doesn’t. He knows about the kiss. He has us on tape talking about it,” she said.

“He has a recording?” I asked.

She nodded and I sighed, nearly groaning in frustration. “Why didn’t you tell me this, Victoria?”

“You don’t want me anywhere near you,” she said. “You’ve been telling me to stay away, to stay with Louis. We’re not exactly on speaking terms.”

  I gritted my teet
h. “For something this important, we should have been.”

“It doesn’t matter. Our careers are ruined now. I might as well quit.”

“You’re not going anywhere,” I said, my voice coming out as a growl. “Do you understand, Victoria? You’re staying right where you are.”

She stared up at me and I saw her shiver, that familiar look passing behind her eyes—indignant and hungry all at once.

“What are you going to do about it?” she asked.

“How am I going to keep you here, you mean? Do I have to pin you down?”

Her cheeks flushed and, despite the situation, I couldn’t help but smile.

“I meant—what are we going to do about Jeremiah?”

“Louis and I will work something out.”

  “What does he want?”

“He wants Zachary to lead on the Walker case.”

“Zachary hasn’t done a single bit of work on the Walker case. He hasn’t even been working on his own case.”

“What do you mean?” I asked.

She sighed. “I’ve been doing his work for him,” she said.

  “Why?”

“Because he had that recording. He told me he was going to show it to Jeremiah—I didn’t want you to get in trouble.”

“Victoria, you should have told me all of this,” I said to her.

“This isn’t my fault,” she said, glaring at me. “You were the one who—”

“I did not do this myself,” I said to her, narrowing my eyes at her. “This is not on me alone, Victoria. You were a very, very willing participant in all of this.”

She bit her lip, her eyes on mine. The gesture made my cock ache against my zipper.

“Tell me about your brother,” I said to her. “Why would he do this?”

She shook her head, giving me a cold look.

“I don’t have to tell you anything,” she said. “Just figure it out.”

She turned to go but I grabbed her arm gently to stop her, turning her toward me. I put my hand on her cheek.

“Please don’t worry,” I said to her. Her eyes were wide, and I realized I was surprised myself at my own tenderness. “I will fix it.”
