“I was thinking about something,” Louis said after a moment.
“What’s that?” Xavier asked, his voice lazy and sleepy.
“Come back to the firm,” Louis said. “We need you.”
Xavier sighed, but I stopped him before he could say no.
“We need you, Xavier.”
He stared at me for a moment, then nodded, kissing me softly. “Only if I get to play favorites,” he said.
Louis laughed. “She won’t let me do that.”
“Nope,” I said. “You have to treat me the same as everybody else.”
Xavier raised an eyebrow.
“Maybe not exactly the same,” I said. He laughed and kissed me, and I turned my face to kiss Louis one more time before we all fell asleep together, ready to start our new life.
