Blackout: A Romance Anthology Page 75

by Stephanie St. Klaire

Perfect isn’t even close, but at this point, I should just feel lucky enough that I could form one complete sentence.

Her legs fall open, completely exposing herself to me, and I quickly move in to run my tongue over her thigh, before positioning myself before her. I can smell her arousal, so intoxicating and inviting.

Arching her back, she grips the bedding at her side when my mouth descends and I gently suck on her clit. “Oh,” she moans, a few others words following, yet I can’t seem to hear them clearly. Nothing but a heavy gasp and a few mumbled words can be heard.

I take my time teasing her and driving her wild. Using my hands, I open her and push just one single finger inside. Again she arches, her hips thrusting to match the movements of my tongue against her. Her breathing grows heavier and heavier until she ignites around my finger and lets out a long deep moan, resembling a growl. Gripping my hair, I continue my assault as her body trembles against me.

Seeing her come is an extraordinary sight.

She’s so lost in the aftermath of her orgasmic state that I don’t even think she notices me crawling up her body until I begin to push inside of her.

Her hands grip my shoulders tight and her mouth falls open in ecstasy when I hit that point inside of her that makes her gasp. She’s snug, so welcoming that I have to take a few seconds just to breath before I can begin to move.

I don’t miss the way she starts to rock against me, her way of expressing she needs me to move. So I do.

  And it is euphoric.

Our bodies are both slick with sweat, our breathing uneven and ragged. My heart is still racing, every single second of what just took place between us replays in my mind like the ultimate fantasy. Hallie is my ultimate fantasy come to life. What happened between us can never be topped—an experience that isn’t just sex but a deeper connection that is so much more.

“I think we should do that again,” I murmur, lifting my head off her shoulder and looking at her to find her smiling brightly. “Like again and again.” Hallie’s chest rises and falls with each deep breath she takes in, as if she’s inhaling this moment too.

It’s my turn to chuckle because she takes the thoughts right out of my mind.

I’m just about to tell her so when I look out the windows above me and notice something strange. For a few seconds I stare, wondering if I’m just so caught up in the amazing sex I’d just had that I still can’t see straight.

“What is it?” Hallie asks, twisting around to look in the same direction as I am.

“It’s dark.” I don’t just mean because it’s night time. “All the lights are out; everything is pitch black.”

I carefully pull out of her and gather the condom before walking to the window, still completely nude, as I stare out at the city below. A city of lights, one that never sleeps, yet it is ghostly quiet. “It’s a blackout,” I tell her, and it’s fucking strange as hell. The only lights throughout the entire city of Vegas are those belonging to cars as they move through the city streets.

“I can’t get an outside line.” I turn to look back over my shoulder to find Hallie attempting to make a call on her cell phone. “It’s just dead; no connection at all.”

  Something is off.

Just then a pounding noise of someone knocking on the door of the loft echoes throughout the quiet space. For a few passing seconds, Hallie and I remain frozen, just staring at one another. Then the knocking sounds again, only this time louder and more frantic.

“Here.” I pick up her dress and pass it to her as I gather my pants from the floor. “Put this back on.”

I hurry toward the kitchen and jog across the living room, pausing near the door. “Yeah?”

“Open the door, man,” my brother says from the other side of the door. “Our keycard won’t work.”

I look back over my shoulder just as Hallie steps out into the kitchen with her dress covering her body once more.

  “Come on,” Leo complains.

Flipping the lock, I open the door to find the guys and all three girls standing behind them.

“What the hell is going on?”

I let the door close behind them and turn around to walk back into the open space of the living room. The loft is dark with only the dusk outside giving a soft glow over the space.

“What do you mean what’s going on?” My brother looks agitated as he attempts to use his phone over and over. “The power throughout the whole fucking city is out.”

  “Do we know why?”

“No one knows, man,” Kane walks over to the window and looks out over the city, fisting his hair in his hands. “The people downstairs are freaking out, everyone’s in a panic because they can’t call out. It’s like a fucking alien invasion downstairs. We don’t know if it’s like this all over or just here.”

“They told us all to remain calm and to stay where we are,” Leo states. “Fuck that shit. I knew you were either here or in Hallie’s room. I’d rather be camped out in a room instead of that madhouse downstairs while we figure out what the hell is happening.”

The ladies are all gathered near the island in the kitchen, talking amongst themselves. Each one wearing her own version of fear and confusion.

“We need to find something to produce some light,” I tell them, realizing that once the sun is completely set, we’ll be in complete darkness. As it is now, we are only going on what small glow is left.

“You’re not gonna find any candles here.” Leo begins opening drawers in the kitchen then slamming them shut one more.

“What about that one on the table?”

On the coffee table in the living room there is a fancy three-tier candle with decorative rocks all around it. “I think that’s fake.”

Kane leans in closer, pocking at it like it may bite him back or something. “No, it’s real. But I don’t think it’s meant for us to burn.”

“I’m pretty sure that run no longer applies since the end of the world may be here and we are soon to be trapped in complete darkness.” With a flip of a lighter, Zara steps up and lights each wick. “There, if they bitch about it, blame me. I’ll tell them where they can stick it.”

Hallie, Lucy and Robyn continue to look around in the kitchen, one drawer after another and then in all the cabinets.

As if she can feel me watching her, Hallie pauses her movements and looks up at me, our eyes meeting before she quickly looks away. I’m pissed that something as crazy as this has interrupted our time together. Something so perfect and now chaos is breaking out all around us.

“Here,” Lucy or Robyn hollers out, and then a light illuminates the area, “a flashlight!” Lucy’s face lights up and I find the person behind the voice. “There are even extra batteries.”

“We have one flashlight and candle; I’m sure that is better than most,” Lincoln informs us, always trying to look at the bright side.

“And our phones.” Lucy steps forward and holds up her phones. “They may not be able to make phone calls, but they’ll still provide light.”

“This is freaky,” Hallie finally speaks, and being unable to stop myself, I move across the room to wrap my arms around her. Things have changed; I can’t stop the feeling inside of me that needs to comfort her.

She doesn’t attempt to stop me, only leans in to my chest, placing her palms against my stomach and her head on my shoulder.

“We have drinks, some snacks,” Leo says while he rummages through the small refrigerator. “I say we stay here and ride this thing out. It’s better than out there.” He looks toward the door. “My guess is if the lights don’t come back on soon, people are really gonna start acting fucking insane.”

“I agree,” Zara and Robyn say at the same time. Then we all watch as Zara moves to the door, grabs the chair at the desk nearby and props it beneath the handle. When she turns back and sees that we are all staring at her, she shrugs. “Just in case.”

“We have more than enough space,” Lincoln states as he
finally gives up on his attempt to get his phone to make a call. “It’s just crazy that the phones are out too. It’s like anything with power or communication has lost all signal.”

Walking toward the living space, I keep Hallie at my side. Sitting down in one of the large chairs, I pull her into my lap. She curls in close, and I place my arm over her thighs to ensure that no one gets a view of anything they shouldn’t.

It is dark, I know this, but I am not willing to take that chance. I just hope I get my chance to be with Hallie longer than this night.

  CHAPTER 13

  Hallie

I don’t know how long we all sit in the living room talking together. The sun has completely set and the only light that can be seen is from the tier candles burning and flickering in the living room. It gives off just enough light that I can see the faces of each of us, lounging around on the furniture and even the floor. We decided to save the batteries in the flashlight and our phones and only use when needed.

“How long do you think we’ll sit in the dark?”

“Until the sun comes up,” Kane says, followed by a chuckle when Robyn heaves a couch cushion at his head. “What? You asked.”

“You are such a smartass,” Robyn tells him. I sense the tension, something I can’t quite put my finger on yet, but something definitely brewing between the two of them.

Outside in the hall, we hear the voices of others, even the slamming of doors from other hotel rooms and the stairwells. Every single time I hear that noise, my body jerks in surprise and fear.

I yawn and lay my head on Levi’s chest, my gaze still locked on the doorway leading out of the Loft.

“You tired?” he whispers near my ear and I twist my head so that I can look up at him. He’s so handsome, even in the darkened room it can’t be missed. Having him near and holding me securely help. I don’t even want to imagine what would be going on if it had been just the four of use girls alone when this blackout happened.

“I’m okay, for now.” I don’t even know what time it is.

“I’m so bored,” Zara whines. “I say we play a drinking game.”

“Yay, it’s a blackout, so let’s get drunk.” Lucy throws her hands in the air, waving them around in a sarcastic manner.

“Or I can just beat your ass for being a nagging bitch,” Zara retorts as she starts to get up before Leo reaches out to snag her, pulling her back into his lap.

“Calm down killer,” he says with a chuckle. “I can think of a few ways to use that pent up energy that would be more pleasurable than a cat fight.” Silence settles in over the room as the two of them share a look. I’m just glad that they don’t decide to explore those options right in front of us.

“If you know what I mean,” Robyn says out of nowhere and everyone turns to face her. “The game? Have you ever played it?”

“No,” everyone utters from around the room.

“It’s really lame, but when you don’t have much to work with, you do what you can. All you need are alcohol and dirty minds.”

“I have a very dirty mind.” Kane is a troublemaker for sure.

“You have to go around the room and each person says a witty sexual innuendo that may sound innocent, yet has a dirty side too. The trick is you have to follow it up with … if you know what I mean.”

“And how do you win?” I’ve never heard of this before.

“If you can’t come up with something, you have to take a shot.” Robyn stands and walks over to the bar, grabbing a tray as she piles shot glasses on top of it. “There’s that or we could play Medusa.”

We all stare at her as she sets the tray down and two different bottles of alcohol on the coffee table.

“Oh my hell, you guys.” She laughs. “That one is lame too, but simple. You sit in a circle, fill the shot glances, and make sure each person has their own. Then everyone playing lowers their head, and on the count of three, you lift and stare at someone else in the circle. If you find yourself staring into the eyes of someone staring back at you, you have to take the shot. But if the person you are looking at happens to be looking at someone else, you’re safe for that round.”

“Where do you come up with this shit?”

She shrugs. “I went to a lot of lame drinking parties and I had to do something to get through them, so I played the dumb ass games. The way I see it right now, we don’t have many choices.”

“I’m sitting this one out,” Lucy declares, being the first to cave, which doesn’t surprise me.

“Me too,” Lincoln adds, and, again, I’m not surprised. They are both a little too straight and clean, or more like boring, if you ask me.

“So which is it?” Robyn fills each glass and looks around the group.

“Why not both,” Leo says, still holding Zara in his lap. “If you know what I mean first, because we are bound to run out of sexual innuendos eventually and then we move on to the next.”

Everyone seems to agree as we move to the table and sit in a circle around it.

Leo insists on starting the game and when he says the first line, he looks directly at Zara. “My favorite animal is definitely the beaver, if you know what I mean.”

The cheesy look he holds as Zara tries not to laugh is entertaining.

“In an instant, she is dripping wet, if you know what I mean.”

Oh my god, this is getting dirty fast.

It is Kane’s turn, and of course, he gives Robyn a wink before smiling widely. “The power of the thrust is remarkable, if you know what I mean.”

“I take his head in my hands and begin to stroke it, if you know what I mean.” Robyn even follows her innuendo with a vulgar stroke of her hand. When Kane moans, like he can actually feel her doing to him what she’s imitating, I have to look away.

“Is it getting hot in here?” Zara pulls on the collar of her dress and fans her face.

“I think this was a very bad choice of games.” I feel like I am trapped in an orgy I never agreed to be a part of.

It is my turn and, I hope no one will notice if I don’t play. “You’re up.” Zara pushes me and I glare at her, but through the darkness, I’m sure it just appears as if I am squinting.

“Are you coming, if you know what I mean?”

“I would really like to,” Levi whispers his response near my ear, before biting the lobe. Chills run through me and cover my arms. I see the want in his eyes, and I take a chance to look around the room in order to observe if anyone else picked up on his offer. It appears as though they all have their own little taunting games going on.

“I think if we sneak off, they’ll never know,” Levi answers the question I have in my mind without me actually having to ask it.

Taking my hand in his, he leads me away. Just as we step into the little loft area overlooking the pitch black city below, Zara hollers out, “Get it girl!” I hang my head, and as Levi pulls me in closer to him, his body shaking from laughter against my own. A body I can’t wait to feel as I get lost in Levi, so lost that I forget my own name.

  CHAPTER 14

  Levi

With our nosy friends nearby, I wasn’t about to take any chances. I gather a large sheet and drape it over the door with great skill, using one of the cabinet doors to anchor one side and the crown molding on the other side to hold it in place. It may not be extremely private, but it gives us a little more than what we had.

I remove my pants and climb on to the fluffy cushions beneath the sheet that contains Hallie. Feeling her naked body against mine triggers a strong reaction within me. I try my best to control myself as I prop up my head on my hand and use my other to lay over her waist. My eyes adjust to the darkness as I stare at her and she smiles up at me.

“Is it strange that I don’t even care right now what’s going on out there?” she quietly utters.

“I’ve got what I need right here,” I say in response and take in a deep calming breath when she moves her thigh just enough to skim my already growing erection.

  “Me
too,” she confesses with a shy smile and I lean in to claim her mouth with mine.

“We’ll figure it out tomorrow.” I roll my body over hers and pin her beneath me. “Right now I just want to be right here, pleasing every part of you.”

  “I like that plan.”

Hallie lifts her legs to wrap them around my waist and it feels like heaven. I know I should be getting a condom, but for a few seconds, I just want to enjoy how her wetness glides over me. Together we move, careful not to take things too far.

“This doesn’t end here, Hallie.” No fucking way was I leaving Vegas and never seeing her again. “When we get back to Chicago, after all this shit is figured out, you and me are going see where this goes. This isn’t enough. This will never be enough.” No way could I let it be.

When she doesn’t answer, I pull back enough to look in her eyes.

“Tell me that you want that too. Tell me that you want me too. That you want us beyond Vegas.” I don’t care if I sound desperate.

“Yes,” Hallie answers, moving her hips while the head of my cock presses against her entrance.

“I need a condom.” She nods and unhooks her legs so that I can retrieve one from my bag. Within seconds, I’m back and holding on to my hardness as I lower my body over hers once more.

When I thrust inside of her wet heat, she immediately lifts her legs once more and hooks them tightly around my waist. From this angle, I push in a little more and she gasps at how deep I am inside of her.

Not wanting to share this moment with anyone outside of this room, I cover her mouth with my own and begin to move. With each thrust, her body shifts beneath me and her heels dig in a little deeper. I do my best to swallow each of her moans while trying to control my own.

I was wrong: This time with her is even better than the last.

“Oh my god!” she cries out when my mouth slips from her.

The whistle to us from outside the room confirms the others heard her. Thankfully, Hallie is so very lost in her pleasure that she doesn’t seem to notice. That or she doesn’t care.
