Chapter 1
“Why Jai? Why?” Piya shook her head looking at the guy she had known since school days.
“What do you mean?” A wicked smile turned up on Jai’s glorious face and his eyes twinkled at her.
“Why do you have to…” her voice trailed off when he started to laugh.
“You know this is good for you,” he said softly.
“I am not going to meet any random person for the sake of dating,” her voice blared in the decently sized Mumbai apartment.
“You need to have someone in your life to share and care.”
“Jai, I don’t like this online dating stuff…it’s…” she grumbled, and he completed the sentence for her, “Fun.”
“It’s weird.”
“Why is it weird?” he asked.
She looked at him without responding. It was not the first time they’ve had the conversation in the past few months. She knew where the conversation was going, and it would end with her being convinced to go on the website to look for a date for the night.
“I refuse to just meet any random man,” she grumbled.
“We talked about this and you know you can hang out with the guy only if you like him after the initial interaction,” he smirked.
“You are so fucking difficult Jai,” she gritted her teeth.
“I know you want it,” he smiled.
“I can’t do this Jai, I’m…”
“This is the only way you can shut me up.” His voice was calm. “You know I’ll keep asking until…”
“Fine!” She slammed her palms on the wooden dining table and reached for her laptop. “I will give it one chance tonight, if I don’t like the guy we’re never talking about it.”
“I’ll take that. It’s a huge improvement from…I can’t do this,” he laughed
She looked at him with fire in her eyes as she turned on her computer. “I’m going to pick one out of the guys who responded to my pathetic hazy picture.”
“You’re beautiful Piya and the right guy will find you.”
“Flattery is not working.” She knew Jai meant well.
“A good friend has to keep trying,” he laughed.
“Is it safe for me to go with these strangers?”
“Yes. This website does a background check on these people and the fat membership fee you paid guarantees they are not psychopaths or serial killers.” His voice was calm.
“I think it’s still dangerous.” She shook her head scrolling through the long list of messages she had received.
“No, it’s not, it will be the best thing ever.” He winked.
“The best thing ever is having someone like you watching out for me.” She looked straight at him.
“I know but I want you to have more…more everything.”
“You’re getting good at this,” she mocked. “We are never talking about it if I don’t like the guy I meet tonight. No more of this online dating garbage.”
“How about I pick your date tonight?”
She took a deep breath and flipped the laptop toward him.
“Never ever will you talk about this if the guy doesn’t show up or if I don’t like the guy,” she said, firmly.
“Deal.”
Piya stood up from the dining table to take her plate to the sink and she had barely placed her plate in the sink, she heard a celebratory sound. She turned around to find Jai smirking.
“What?” she shrugged.
“We are all set. The dude is going to meet you at the club at seven tonight.”
“You’re kidding.” She found it unbelievable that Jai was able to set her up on a date so quickly.
“Nope, you are all set for a hot blind date,” he laughed.
“You are a weird guy.”
“I’m just the guy who thinks you shouldn’t stop your life for anyone.”
She smiled but secretly hoped the guy wouldn’t show up or would run away as soon as he saw the hideous dress she was planning on wearing.
Fifteen minutes later, Piya stepped out of her bedroom. “I’m ready.”
“You’ve got to be kidding me,” Jai growled. “Did you raid your grandma’s closet?”
“We never talked about what I was going to wear. I get to wear anything I like.” She ran her palms over her eggplant colored silk dress that had a cowl neck and it flowed easily past her knees.
“That’s cheating! Why are you are hiding under that stuff.” He complained. They have been best friends since high school and enjoyed the friendly banter from time to time.
“Let’s move Jai. I can’t keep my date waiting.”
“You still look hot by the way,” he winked.
*****
Piya sat in the parked taxi thirty minutes later, refusing to get out of the vehicle.
“I can’t do this Jai, let’s go back.” Piya gripped the handle of the taxi door feeling the sweat on her palms. “You shouldn’t be forcing me!!” she snarled angry with herself for letting him convince her to go on the date when she wasn’t ready. She was still hurting from the biggest tragedy of her life.
“You need to move on with your life,” he whispered.
“Fine, this will be the first and last time ever.” She mumbled getting out of the taxi.
“Piya, I want you to forget who you are or where you are as soon as you step into the club. There is no looking back and you need to do this for yourself.”
“I know,” she took a deep breath looking into his eyes.
“The guy knows where to take you and I want you to have fun and not think about what happened in the past.” His eyes were intense and his voice deep.
“But how will…”
He hushed her before she could complete. “If you don’t like the guy you can leave.”
“Ok.”
“This is it, do not turn back. Go in and he will find you.” Piya nodded, even though Jai’s soothing voice did nothing to curb her urge to run in the opposite direction.
Chapter 2
Piya looked up at the modest sign that glowed in the darkness and stepped into the check-in area with her stomach clenched and her heart on a rampage.
She smiled at the woman at the entrance and hoped she couldn’t tell she was nervous.
“Welcome to The Dark Side, how are you doing this evening?”
“I—I’m fine, thank you.” Piya barely managed to get the words out of her mouth.
“Is this your first time visiting us?” The young woman asked cheerfully.
“Yes.”
“We are thrilled you came to ‘The Dark Side’,” she smiled, making Piya more nervous. Her pragmatic mind wanted her to turn around and run out, but something told her she had to stay. She had to do it for herself. Jai was right, she needed to move on with her life, but she didn’t know if she had it in her to start over.
“Thank you.”
“Since this is your first time, I need to make sure you agreed to all our terms and conditions. Can I get your name please?”
“Huh?”
“The name you used to register on our website?” The woman at the entrance was being extremely polite.
“Umm…try Piya M
ithra.” She gave her full name.
“Found you! You are all set. Your guest is waiting for you and I will buzz him to meet you in the lounge. Right this way please,” she smiled leading Piya toward a set of double doors. The so-called lounge was a waiting area that was a bright velvety red wall-to-wall and dimly lit.
“Your guest will be right with you,” the woman smiled before disappearing through a doorway.
Piya stood in the center of the room, her skin crawling with apprehension, her toes curled inside her pumps. She felt dizzy and her body felt limp from the pressure. She had come too far to turn away and she hoped she would meet a guy she would not like so it would make her decision easy.
She knew luck wasn’t really in her favor when she turned to the approaching footsteps. The thud in the stride sent shivers down her spine and when a tall figure filled the frame of the entrance, she knew she was doomed.
A smile came out of nowhere on her face when her amber eyes met dark brown piercing ones.
“Piya, I’m Rajeev. I’m so glad you messaged me back.” He took her into his muscled arms, taking her by surprise.
“It’s good to meet you,” she mumbled.
“I’m excited you agreed to meet me here.” His palm rested on the small of her back as he guided her toward the doorway he had come through moments ago, leading her down a what seemed to be a circular hallway, the same red color flowing wall to wall.
“This place should be called ‘The Red Side’.” The words stumbled out her mouth like she was completely at ease with him, a perfect stranger.
“I think so too,” he smiled flashing gorgeous dimples that called out to her. He was stunning, and she wondered if that was what gave Jai the confidence. She took in his rugged profile as they walked past multiple doors that were well camouflaged. She knew nothing about him and didn’t want to be there in the first place but something about the guy leading her made her feel slightly at ease. It made her wonder if it was because he gave her the space and didn’t try to paw her.
“This is our room,” he smiled punching in a code on the small keypad. “After you.” He held the door open with one arm looking down into her eyes.
She looked up into eyes that showed longing and something else she couldn’t decipher. Her shoulder rubbed against his chest trapping her breath in her throat as she stepped into what seemed like a private room with a glass wall on the other end.
The room was small, the size of a standard walk-in closet with a set up for two, facing the glass wall. She took two steps toward the table and her legs froze. She looked through the glass wall in shock at the sight in front of her, a level lower than where she was and let out a gasp. She took in the images on the large posters and realized she had stepped into a fetish club and the center stage was being setup for what seemed like a show of sex for the patrons.
Piya stared in awe at the extravagant set up. A stage equipped with a bed, a couch, an entire apartment set up with no walls. There were props on the furniture that looked like sex equipment being set up for multiple couples to put on a show of lovemaking. She swallowed unable to handle the scene in front of her.
Chapter 3
“Ohh shit! I can’t do this,” Piya turned in her spot and took quick steps toward the door and felt her body ram into his well build chest. Her palms caressed his chest under the smooth silk shirt as a strong grip circled her waist.
“Right,” he laughed, his breath warm in her ear as he pulled her into his chest. “You are doing exactly what you said you would be doing.”
“What?”
“I’m glad you warned me you would make a run for the door.” He took a whiff of her hair.
“Ohh shit, that wasn’t me.” She shuddered, her body responding to his touch.
“You don’t need to repeat everything you typed on the instant messenger,” his grip tightened bringing her closer to him. “We are only going to watch the performance…for now.”
Jai had set her up on the date and she was surprised he had warned the guy about her. “I—I don’t know if…” she rambled.
“Yes, you don’t and that’s why you need to sip your drink and enjoy the performance.” He grunted holding her to him.
“I’m not into this, you don’t want me.” She blurted trying to rip his arms apart.
“How do you know you are not into this?” He tightened his hold on her, his lips dangerously close to hers.
“I’m not…” Piya struggled to get out of his grip and her words were lost when he took his lips to the side of her mouth threatening to capture her mouth.
Her lips parted like she wanted him to take her as the warm spiciness of his masculinity filled her lungs. His palms roamed up to cup her face in his palms.
“You have no idea how ravishingly innocent you are and that makes me so hot for you,” he nipped on her lower lip.
A gasp escaped her only to be lost in his mouth as she leaned in pulling him closer by his shirt. She tasted something minty on him and a hell lot of dominance. His lips were so demanding, all she wanted to do was to give in without a fight, get drowned in the dark and dirty world of desire that surrounded her.
“Watch the performance and if you don’t like it, I will take you back.” He stated.
“No…I…” she mumbled when she felt his palm slide over her belly and stop right below her breast like he was waiting for her permission to touch her soft mounds of flesh.
“Don’t fight it, let go.” His words sent vibrations down to her sex. It was a feeling she had not had in a while and something inside her clicked.
Piya took a deep breath in an attempt to calm her nerves that had turned raw from the warm breath fanning her cheeks. She pulled back to look at him as his palms slid on her waist like it was natural for her to be in his arms. “You have no idea why I’m here and this is not what I expected.”
“I don’t care why you’re here, I am your escort for tonight just like we agreed when we messaged earlier,” he drawled.
“I—I’m not sure if…” her voice trailed off when she heard a huge gong sound.
“The show is about to begin, you just need to watch.” His deep eyes caressed her every curve like he was virtually undressing her. He let one hand drop to his side and guided her toward the recliner sofa.
She was nervous about the situation and her senses were on high alert. It was a situation she had never been in and never in her wildest dreams had she imagined being in a fetish club with a stunningly gorgeous stranger who seemed to know how to stroke her senses and awaken her libido.
The sofa looked warm and inviting while promising to cocoon her rigid and freezing body. She placed her small purse on the low table and sat to one side not wanting to give into her need to cuddle into a ball to one side of the small sofa.
“Relax,” he gently pushed her back onto the backrest of the plush sofa.
“I can’t…I can’t see the show if I lean back,” she mumbled.
He laughed making waves of pleasure sweep through her body. “You see that circular stage down there, it raises up so the people in the booths can enjoy while they relax.
“Ohh shit,” her words rolled off her lips inadvertently.
“Piya…” he drawled making her name sound erotic.
She looked at him as he squatted in front of her his fingertips grazing down the smooth skin on her legs. Her stomach clenched, and her heart thumped as he slipped her pumps off her feet so slowly like he was enjoying touching her feet.
“I want you to relax,” he stood up to sit at the other end of the sofa.
She folded her legs, bringing her feet under her and leaned to one side of the couch as he settled in comfortably, a few inches from her.
He put her at ease with a general conversation as the show set-up continued. She found out he was in the food business and that intrigued her. She had a passion for food, especially anything sweet. She was able to block out what was about to happen on the stage and talked to him about her food blog and how she was
planning to post her cooking videos online.
“What is your name?” she murmured mid conversation after trying real hard to remember his name.
He smiled, a glint of wickedness in his eyes and a twist to his mouth. “You’ll remember it when you need to, enjoy the show.”
“I’m sorry, it’s rude of me to not remember your name.” she said sheepishly.
“Piya,” it was a command. “Enjoy the show now.”
Piya swallowed taking in his chiseled profile feeling a dull ache deep inside, an ache that only he could soothe.
Chapter 4
The center stage raised high into the air but was still a few feet below the level they were on and Piya looked up at the open stadium style seating above the booths where the people were geared to enjoy the show.
A young woman wearing an all leather outfit sat on the sofa in the center of the stage accompanied by two men who wore nothing but tight jeans. The crowd cheered as the commentator introduced the people on the stage as the ‘performers’.
“What are they going to do?” she couldn’t contain her curiosity. She had read and heard about such shows but she had no idea they had clubs with shows and could not even begin to imagine what she was going to see next.
“I will tell you if you move closer to me,” he winked.
She shot him a glare but her treacherous body begged to move closer to him. Her skin tingled, her lungs filled with his spicy masculine scent, her stomach clenched in apprehension, her heart drummed a parade, and blood rushed through her turning her nerves raw but all she could think about is how it would feel to have his large palm cup her sex that wept for attention.
Fuck! She couldn’t remember the last time she was so turned on. The guy who looked at her like he was fascinated with her. She was stirring emotions and sensations she had not felt in a while. The twitching between her legs had turned into a wet dull ache. He was the spark that ignited the rebel in her that wanted to throw her rules out of the window. He could take her there and leave her and she wouldn’t object.
