When I wrote Blocked, I hadn’t planned to start a series. I’d only wanted to create an opposites-attract sports romance, and who could be more oppositional than conservatives and liberals? In America’s heated political climate, I wanted to represent both sides fairly and leave it to the reader to decide who won the presidency.

But then, reader response amazed me. I’m so grateful to readers who took the time to tell me what they loved about Blocked. And, I understand those who were angry about the evil cliffhanger and hoisted pitchforks outside my window. *hides*

So I decided to continue with the Ramirez and Monroe families in Aced and Spiked. I may write a novella featuring naughty Nina in the future, but for now the series is finished. I thank my wonderful teammates for making Spiked possible.

Nicki Elson, critique partner and friend. I’m so relieved I can vent and laugh with you about the wild world of publishing. Your assistance with the suspense element of Spiked was especially invaluable, and my editor was impressed by the “squeaky clean” manuscript you critiqued!

Jessica Royer Ocken, editor magnífica. You have improved my writing ten-fold. I’m impressed by your skill, speed, and support.

Coreen Montagna, book designer. I can’t tell you how many compliments I’ve received on your cover designs, and I appreciate your fine attention to detail.

Mitsy Princell, PA. It’s been a blast watching you build your author assistant business. Thank you for celebrating my books.

Nelly Guajardo, Spanish and diabetes consultant. I know you have a special place in your heart for boys named Mateo, and I have a special place in my heart for you! Thank you for your assistance, chica.

Yelania Velasco, Spanish consultant. Gracias for your help, amiga. (Any remaining errors are mine.)

Nic Roach, Australia consultant. We met through our love of Prison Break (I’m so stoked for the show’s return), and I’m grateful for your help with Mackenzie’s character.

Swimming teammates at Kenyon College, especially my best friend: Gwynn Evans Harrison. After moaning for years about my characters rooting for the Chicago White Sox, you finally bullied me into including a Cubs fan in my novel. I hope Ryne Fitcherson represents your fervor well. (And thanks for the Wrigley Field tour!)

  About the Author

Get psyched for romance with psychologist/author (psycho author) Jennifer Lane! By day she’s a therapist, and by night she’s a writer. She can’t decide which is more fun.

Jen loves to create sporty heroines and hot heroes in her college sport romances. Volleyball wonder Lucia Ramirez found her love match in Blocked despite the glaring political spotlight aimed on her family. In Aced, the second book in the Blocked series, it’s her brother Alejandro’s turn to get lucky in love. Spiked (Blocked #3) features Lucia’s younger brother Mateo and launches in October of 2016.

A swimmer and volleyball player in college, Jen writes swimming-based romances as well: Streamline, a military mystery, and the free New Adult novella Swim Recruit.

Stories of redemption interest Jen the most, especially the healing power of love. She is also the author of The Conduct Series, a romantic-suspense trilogy that includes With Good Behavior, Bad Behavior, and On Best Behavior. She will return to romantic suspense with her next novel, Twin Sacrifice.

Ultimately, whether writing or reading, Jen loves stories that make her laugh and cry. In her spare time she enjoys exercising, attending book club, and visiting her sisters in Chicago and Hilton Head.
