“Good,” he said, looking up at her. His hands pulled her hips forward and deftly slid her over him.
Fayina placed her hands on his chest, feeling the way the muscles moved as she felt him inside of her. “For the first time in my life, I can imagine having children, growing old, and…”
“And I will be there with you through it all.” He pulled her down into a kiss, their bodies moving rhythmically against each other. Both Fayina and Adrik were restraining themselves in an effort to see who would break first. “I will be yours for as long as you live.”
Fayina pulled back a little. “Are you really alright with that?” The desire she felt began to fade. “You have already lost one wife. It isn’t right to expect you to watch another die.”
Adrik shook his head, “Love doesn’t know anything about expectation or what is fair. I know that is what I feel, and I will cherish it for as long as you offer your love. If you were to decide you wanted to leave me, I would let you go.”
“I could never do that. I… don’t want to hurt you.”
“Then don’t leave me.” His voice was soft and fragile. For the first time since they had met, Fayina saw how much control he had given her, right from the beginning. The only time he had exerted his own desire was when it was for her health.
“Only death can make me leave you.” She leaned down and wrapped her arms around Adrik.
He held her close, and a few minutes later she was asleep in his arms, their bodies still joined. Adrik softly moved her bangs before allowing sleep to finally claim him.
