“That was incredible, baby.”
Zac’s voice rouses me out of my thoughts. “Yeah,” I purr.
Zac flips me around so that he comes to a rest above me. I can still feel his hardness inside of me. His every move sends sweet tingles across my body. Fuck me, I could do it again.
“Stella, now that we’re going to have a son, I think it’s time we talk about something.”
My eyes snap open. Oh my God, this is not happening.
“I love you and I love,” Zac places his hand on my tummy, “what’s growing inside of you.” He thinks for a while. “It would be nice for the boy if he has parents that are, you know, really together.”
I laugh. “No, Zac; I don’t know.” I so need to hear this, to hear him say what I think he’s going to say. At the same time, I’m praying that it’s what he’s going to say.
Zac shifts his weight, making me squeak. I feel him grow inside of me. “I’m shit with words, but I love you, Stella, and it’s time we tied the knot, you know?”
My heart could’ve exploded at that very moment. This must be just about the most barbaric proposal, but I love it. I give Zac a feline blink of my eyes. “I have three things to say to that.”
“Oh?”
I love watching him squirm. “First, how do you know that the life growing inside of me is a boy?”
Zac frowns. “It has to be, because I need some male support around our new house. You and Azure are a real handful. My son will help me deal with that.”
“I see.” I laugh to myself. It’s true that our new place in Santa Monica was for the most part designed and inspired by Azure and I. Begrudgingly, Zac had given in to most of our demands, lest he had to listen to our whining. I’ve found that Zac is best persuaded bit by bit—God help you if he feels cornered. Azure had taught me that. That knowledge has gotten me by most times.
“And second?”
“What?” I was so lost in my own little world that I had forgotten that I have a man on top and inside of me with a question hanging on his lips.
“You said that you have three things to say.”
“Yes, so you were listening. Second, it’s just like you to have such a momentous discussion with your dick still inside of me.” I love the way he guffaws. His laugh captivates me every time.
“I have leverage over you with this.” Zac makes his point my pressing down, making me mew softly. “So, what’s your third point?” he asks.
I flash him an over-confident smile. “Why don’t you ask me to be your wife already?”
Zac laughs again. “Did somebody ever tell you to wait until you’re asked?”
“Yeah, many times. But that same person also told me that from now on, we take what we want and I want to be your wife.”
Zac smirks. “Thanks for saving me the speech, baby. I love you so much and you know me so well. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. With you and no other.”
“And I with you, Zac, my love.” I nearly fall apart when Zac kisses me with a passion he has never shown before. God help me; can this man be even sexier?
“We better get going, Stella. By now, your dad, Azure, Giovanni, and Crystal will be wondering whether we were abducted by aliens or something.” Zac slides off me and makes to go to the bathroom. “I still can’t believe that Giovanni and Crystal are an item. How the hell does he put up with her?”
I don’t respond to Zac’s question. “Hey, buster. Haven’t you forgotten something?”
Before he vanishes into the bathroom, Zac turns. “Oh, yes, I almost forgot.” He slowly walks back to me. Before he gets to the bed, he rummages in the pocket of his trousers that lie on the floor and removes a small box.
“You were going to ask me tonight, in front of everybody?” I ask with a shocked gasp.
Zac shrugs. “That was the whole idea, but having you so close before sort of got me excited.”
I laugh. I love Zac’s natural way. “Come on, let me see.” I wiggle up into a sitting position and squirm about on my bottom.
“Relax, baby,” he says, sliding a perfect diamond ring on a white gold band onto my finger. “And don’t say it. I have already asked, and you said yes.”
“Not really, but yes, Zac, I will be your wife.” I laugh so uninhibitedly that I nearly fall off the bed when he grimaces at me. I love teasing him. When I regain my composure, I stand up and look into Zac’s eyes. “So, now that I’m your fiancé, I think it’s time to confide in you in the only way a wife and a wife-to-be can.”
Zac liftd an eyebrow.
I plant a huge kiss onto his lips before I speak. “Azure’s got a boyfriend.” Before Zac says anything, I dash to the bathroom.
“Oh, fuck.”
