Ron smiled at her. “Yeah, we will be right out. I don’t think Greg was this nervous the first time they were married. When I get married, I think I will elope to Nevada . It’s much less stressful.”

Sue smiled back at him. “When you want us, just knock on the bedroom door.

  “Okay,” agreed Ron.

Sue went back to the bedroom. “They are almost ready. They will knock on the door when it’s time. Will Greg’s family be here soon?”

“I think I hear them arriving.” Mrs. Lansing heard the noise from the other room.

Mrs. Dorchester and Marcie knocked on the door to the bedroom and entered. They came to see if they could help, but could only stand and stare at the lovely bride.

“You look absolutely stunning, my dear.” Mrs. Dorchester came forward to give Dody a hug.

“Thank you,” Dody looked at her new mother-in-law. “I hope we can be friends. I have heard some really nice things about you. I’m really looking forward to getting to know all of you.

“I’m sure we will be great friends. I have heard some great things about you, too.” Mrs. Dorchester gave Dody another hug. Dody gave Marcie a hesitant smile. Marcie smiled back at her and came forward to give Dody a hug. Dody hugged her back and reached for a napkin to wipe her eyes.

“Now, let’s see if we have everything we need.” Mrs. Lansing took a package from her purse and opened it. “We have grandma’s pearls for something old and borrowed. I have a blue garter you can have for the blue. For the new, I have this Bible with flowers and ribbons. You can carry it for your bouquet.”

Dody accepted it all. “You thought of everything.”

“She made James stop at Nancy’s flower shop on the way here. She already called ahead and had it waiting.” Sandra explained to the assembled crowd.

Dody hugged her mom. “I love it all. I can’t believe you got all of this done so quickly. I love you, Mom.”

“I love you, too, Dody. Now let’s see if everyone is ready.”

Sandra slipped out of the room. She went and took Karen from James and sent James in to Dody. She smiled at Greg. “They will be right out.” She assured him. Greg gave her a smile in return. He was impatient to get things going. “Nevada had been a lot easier.” He thought to himself.

Greg, Ron and the preacher were standing at one end of the room, waiting for Dody. Sue came out and walked over to them. She took her place on the other side of the preacher from them. Mrs. Lansing, Mrs. Dorchester and Marcie slipped into the room and joined the others in the chairs. There was a hush as Dody and James appeared in the doorway. Greg caught his breath at how beautiful she looked. Ron had to tap him on his back to remind him to breathe. She literally took his breath away. Dody smiled at him and she and James started forward. Dody looked into the most beautiful eyes she had ever seen. They guided her forward to the one man in the world for her. Her destiny was waiting for her just a few short steps away.

James came to a stop in front of Greg and placed Dody’s hand in Greg’s. He kissed Dody on the cheek. “Be happy.” He said.

  “Thank, you. I will.”

Dody turned to Greg. They smiled at each other. The preacher started the wedding ceremony. Dody and Greg gazed into each other's eyes as they repeated their vows. It was with great pleasure that Greg pulled Dody into his arms for the kiss to seal their vows.

“You are so very beautiful,” he whispered.

Everyone crowded around the two of them. Greg’s father hugged Dody and welcomed her to the family. Greg shook hands with all the men and hugged all of the women. Everyone hugged Dody, even Rod.

“I’m sorry I got hurt and caused so much trouble.” Rod told Dody.

“It wasn’t your fault. It was an accident. I’m just glad you’re alright.” Dody gave him another hug.

“Come on everyone.” Ron called. “We have to make a toast to the happy couple. I have champagne for everyone and sparkling cider for Dody.”

Everyone gathered around and took their glasses. When Mrs. Lansing gave him a stern look, Rod also got a glass of sparkling cider.

Ron raised his glass. “Here’s to Greg and Dody. May they have smooth sailing for the rest of their life, together.”

  “Here, here,” everyone agreed.

Mrs. Lansing hurried Dody into the bedroom to get changed out of her wedding finery.

When they joined the others, in the front room, they found The Dorchesters getting ready to leave. Dody came forward and gave hugs all around. She was assured that she would be seeing a lot of Greg’s family. Dody smiled, happily. She was very happy with how things turned out.

“We have to be going, also.” Mrs. Lansing stated, as she gathered her family for departure. “Be happy,” she said, as she hugged Dody and Greg goodbye.

Finally everyone was gone. Greg turned and pulled Dody into his arms. “I love our families, but I want some time alone with my bride.”

He pulled Dody into his arms and proceeded to show her how he felt about her. Dody kissed him back and tried to get closer to him.

Greg led Dody into the bedroom. He didn’t let go of her and was kissing her all the way into the bedroom. Once in there he started edging her closer to the bed, when he stopped suddenly. He looked around, thoughtfully. Greg released Dody and went over to the dresser. He took some paper and a marker and wrote something on several sheets of paper. He took the paper and some tape and taped one sheet on the mirror of the dresser. He took one sheet in the bathroom and taped it to the mirror in there. He took the final piece and taped it on the door.

Dody had watched him silently. She was very curious about what he was doing. She went over to the dresser to read the paper taped there. It read “WE ARE MARRIED.” Dody started laughing.

Greg joined her. “I’m not taking any chances this time,” he declared.

“You do not have to worry,” Dody said. “I’m not going anywhere.” She went into his arms to continue what they had begun earlier.

  About the Author

With five children, nine grandchildren, and four great - grandchildren, I have a very busy life, but reading and writing have always been a very large part of it. Even though I have written for years, I had to do my writing by hand because I was unable to type. My children were grown and in college, so, I decided to give college a try and learn typing and computers. It opened up a whole new world for me and made my writing easier. Being able to look up anything that I wanted at the touch of my fingers and making friends on Facebook from all over the world expanded my world considerably. I am proud to say that my youngest daughter is a writer, a very good one, and many of my friends are writers, also. Being able to put my words down on paper and seeing them in print and knowing other people are enjoying them is awe inspiring.
