Eventually the amphitheater was filled, and Headmaster Thorn made his way up to the stage. I looked out at all of my fellow students and saw a few familiar faces. Professor Goldwin and Professor Bigsby were off to the side with the magic freezer, waiting for their turn to present. Angie and Drew were also watching from the third row. I couldn’t see Cade, Jasper, Blaise, or Jacob, but I could feel both Cade and Jasper in the area. I wasn’t as familiar with Blaise’s and Jacob’s energy yet.
“Students,” Headmaster Thorn announced, “Mr. Dawn and Ms.Thrushmoor asked to perform a séance. Since this type of magic is usually forbidden on campus, I thought that it might be a rare educational opportunity for you all to witness the event. Now, without further delay, Mr. Dawn will begin.”
I watched as Headmaster Thorn left the stage, a smirk not so well hidden on his face. I turned my attention back to the task in front of us. Archer and I sat down within our circle and joined hands. Similar to when we tried to find Drew, we began chanting.
The words came to life and beat against my ribcage with every breath. I could feel their power and influence. The syllables pulled at my magic as it flowed through my body and towards the tiger’s eye ring I wore.
As time went on, we began to chant more ferociously and aggressively. A powerful force was leaning against us, preventing us from calling any spirit forward. But we both still felt a presence. There was one there. It was harder than with Drew, but we knew that we could do it.
I forced more of my energy into the chanting and allowed my words to come out naturally. The force suddenly disappeared, and collective gasps from the crowd could be heard. I recognized one of the more surprised gasps to be from Headmaster Thorn. I opened my eyes and saw the third space in our circle was occupied by a ghost.
My grandmother.
I couldn’t waver. I had to confront her. “Rose Thrushmoor, what happened to Drew Birch? Why did you place a death curse on him and me?”
She didn’t answer me.
I tried again, “Rose Thrushmoor, why did you place a death curse on Drew Birch?”
Once again, I was ignored. I was about to begin again, but Archer squeezed my hand and motioned for me to look at my grandmother. I looked up and saw that she was looking closely at all those around us. Her eyes fell upon Headmaster Thorn and she glared with malice. She didn’t seem to want to waste her time on him, so she continued looking until she made eye contact with Professor Goldwin.
She spoke, “Stop the experiments with the magic freezer.”
“W-What?” he responded. “Rose? I don’t understand.”
My grandmother reached arms out to him. “Goldie. You heard me. Stop the experiments with the magic freezer immediately.”
Goldwin put his hands to his chest. “I heard you, but I don’t understand. Can you elaborate?”
My grandmother didn’t speak again, she just broke eye contact and moved her hands in the direction of the magic freezer. There was a pulse of energy. The magic freezer exploded. In the next minute, many things happened, all of them within a state of chaos.
Professor Goldwin and Professor Bigsby immediately ran towards the magic freezer, most likely in an attempt to find a way to salvage any parts of it. I knew that they wouldn’t, the thing was beyond repair. Many of the students had stood up in surprise and were talking loudly about what they should do. Faculty were either rushing to help Goldwin and Bigsby or trying to calm the students down.
In the midst of this, my grandmother turned towards me and bent down on her knees. She smiled tenderly. “Ruby,” she spoke in a hushed tone, “There’s a false bottom in my jewelry box. My focus point is in there, it’s a moonstone ring that I used to wear. The same stone as your necklace.”
“Wait, I have so many more questions than that,” I replied.
“Get my ring.”
“Grandmother?”
“Get my ring.” She stood. The outline of her body started to get hazier and more transparent.
“Grandma...”
“Get my ring.”
“Please...”
“Get my ring.”
Before I could open my mouth to plead to her some more, her form flickered out of existence. With her disappearing, all of the candles went out. I let go of Archer’s hands and looked around me. The commotion was calming down, and Headmaster Thorn was making his way over to us with an angry expression.
“Let’s start cleaning up,” Archer suggested.
“Okay.”
We began picking up the candles and brushing the salt aside. By the time Headmaster Thorn got over to us, we were completely packed up. He began to yell, not even trying to keep the conversation private.
“Do you have any idea how dangerous a séance can be if done incorrectly? You two could have called a demon into existence if you—”
I wasn’t even listening to him. He was the one who wanted us to do the whole thing in front of the school anyway. He even expected us to fail, so whatever he was saying now was just him trying to save face. I wasn’t interested in anything that Thorn had to say. My mind was already on the jewelry box that I had in my room. I wanted nothing more than to rush back and check for the false bottom.
Eventually, Headmaster Thorn stopped yelling at us and turned to the crowd of students waiting for instruction. “Dismissed!” he announced with annoyance.
As soon as I heard him say that we could go, I took off across campus. I knew that Archer would understand and take care of things while I was gone. I didn’t care if anyone was following me or not, I needed to get back to my room. I needed to look in my jewelry box.
The door to my dorm practically flew open as I busted my way inside. I didn’t even bother to close it behind me. I immediately pulled the jewelry box out and gently opened it. I looked at the bottom of it and took a deep breath. I hadn’t realized it until then, but my hands were trembling. I was terrified.
I scraped my fingers along the bottom of the box but couldn’t feel any inconsistencies. Confused, I flipped over the box and searched the bottom... still nothing. I traced my fingers along every corner of the box and couldn’t find anything out of the ordinary. There was no sign of a false bottom.
“Ruby?” a voice called from the hallway.
Both Angie and Drew came rushing into the room and immediately made their way to my side and peered at the jewelry box.
“My grandmother said that it had a false bottom,” I explained. “Her focus point was supposed to be in it.”
“Is it?” Angie asked.
“I can’t find a false bottom.”
Angie sighed and gingerly took the box from my hands and began to inspect it. Drew peered over her shoulder as well. I watched as they fiddled with it and flipped it in every direction. They had no more luck than I did. With a defeated sigh, she put the box down. The ring was nowhere to be found.
I didn’t understand why it wasn’t there. It made no sense for the ring not to be where Granny Rose told me that it was going to be. I sat down on my bed in defeat. Ultimately, it didn’t matter. Now I knew that her ring was somewhere, and I was going to find it no matter what. I wasn’t sure why the ring was so important, but for the time being, her telling me to look for it was reason enough.
“I’m sorry, Ruby,” Drew told me.
“It’s okay,” I responded. “I’ll find it eventually.”
“If you want to, you can keep using my ring for the time being.”
“As nice as that is... isn’t it cursed?”
“Hopefully, it won’t affect you since you’re not a Birch.”
I smiled grimly at the proposition. I didn’t like the conditions that we were under, but I had no other choice but to accept them.
Epilogue
I walked by myself towards one of the many large buildings at Ironwood. The cool air whipped at my hair that I let fall freely around my shoulders. I was more than happy today. It felt as if the whole world had been lifted off of my shoulders.
Although I was still worr
ied about finding my grandmother’s ring, there was no benefit in worrying over it long term. I would honestly just need to sit down and make a plan, analyze things, and decide how to actually move forward. I would find the ring. It was just a matter of time.
Besides the issue with the ring, I was just ecstatic about my situation. I had proven, for a third time, that I was strong, smart, and worthy of being at Ironwood. Headmaster Thorn had been put in his place for the third time. I wanted to celebrate. I wanted to treat myself.
Eventually, I made it to the building that I was searching for. I entered the large red door and walked down the hallway before arriving at the cafeteria. I slowly opened the door and snuck inside, slipping into one of the seats at a table in the back.
The majority of the chairs were already taken, all by shifters. Cade McWilliams stood at the front, addressing everyone in the room. This was one of the many meetings that shifters had at the school.
“Tensions with the vampires are getting worse,” Cade announced, “It’s important for everyone to remain cautious and aware of those around them. We don’t want any troubling incidents. Am I clear? Does everyone understand?”
A resounding noise of agreement washed over the entire auditorium before everyone shot up from their seats to move on with their day. I waited patiently, looking for the perfect opportunity to strike.
I waved Cade and Jasper over, and once I got the attention of Jacob, I called him over as well. The three shifters eyed me curiously as they made their way to my table. Cade looked at me with more disdain than curiosity, but I could tell he was still attracted to me from the way his eyes traveled down to my lips every few seconds. No amount of huffing and puffing from him could take away from the fact that I was the best fuck he’d ever had.
I bounced on my heels a bit, a smile gracing my lips as I greeted them. The atmosphere was tense with all of them around, but I did my best to ignore it and proposed my plan.
“I think you boys could use some stress-relief. How about we all go back to Cade’s dorm and have some fun?” I said with a sly smirk, sending Jacob a wink that caused him to fluster a bit.
Cade rolled his eyes, arguing, “My dorm? Where I sleep? Nice of you to invite people to a room that’s not even yours. Real classy, Ruby.”
His arms were crossed, and I could tell he was pissed about the whole alpha thing, but I desperately wanted to put that behind us. I let out a huff and crossed my arms as well.
“If this is about us both being alphas, you need to get over it, Cade. It’s not something I can control, the same way you can’t control your attraction to me. Just go with the flow for once,” I sighed, giving him the signature puppy eyes of mine.
Cade let his shoulders drop, and Jasper let out a small laugh, clapping him on the back. Jacob looked at me helplessly, and I shot him another wink, hoping he’d get where I was wanting this situation to go.
Finally, after some coaxing from Jasper, Cade accompanied all of us back to his dorm, unlocking it with a huffy sigh that was completely unnecessary, but I’ll admit, the frustration radiating off of him was a bit hot. Maybe I could use that to my advantage. I’d never had angry sex with him before, and he tended to be rough in bed without any anger boiling in his blood. The thought alone made me clench my thighs unconsciously.
Before any of us had gotten settled into the room, Cade had pushed me against his now closed door, forearms trapping my head between them. His amber eyes grew ever darker as his breath rose and fell.
“You think you can take three of us at once?” he asked quietly, just loud enough for me to hear.
I glanced over his shoulder subtly, making brief eye-contact with both Jasper and Jacob, reveling in the way they were already drinking the sexual tension in. I nodded cockily.
Cade chuckled darkly, saying, “The hubris on you is attractive, I’ll admit that. We’ll see if you’re still so cocky when you’re filled with three cocks.”
I groaned at his words and immediately rose up on my toes to press a heated kiss to his lips. Cade welcomed me without any hesitation, and deepened the kiss within seconds, our tongues dancing as I raised my arms to rest on his shoulders.
I knew this couldn’t go on for too long, Cade and I making out while the others watched, so I began pushing the wolf shifter back to his bed, swaying my ass for Jasper and Jacob to see. When Cade was lying back on the bed, I straddled him, still pressing hot kisses onto his full lips.
“Care to join us, boys? There’s plenty of me to go around,” I said cheekily once I had broken the kiss with Cade to shoot a look back at them.
Jasper jumped at my words and came over to begin kneading my breasts, already used to sharing me with the wolf, but Jacob hesitated. He had never shared me before. I gave him a small look of reassurance and mouthed, “Come on.”
Jacob took a deep breath in and sidled over to where I was grinding down on Cade’s still-clothed hard cock, Jasper’s pale hands caressing my breasts and hips. The lion shifter looked at the scene with lustful eyes before leaning down to capture my lips in a kiss. He was slow at first, but then he reached his hands up to grab my face and the kiss deepened. It was so many sensations at once, so many hands on my body. I loved it.
Somehow, I ended up on my hands and knees, with Jacob’s thick cock resting heavy on my tongue, and Jasper plowing into me from behind. Each thrust from the polar bear shifter caused me to gag a bit on Jacob’s dick, and I could tell he was enjoying it from the way his pretty dark eyes rolled back and his long lashes fluttered shut.
Cade watched from beside us, stroking his own cock languidly, his eyes burning holes into my frame. I could tell he was just waiting for his turn with me, not wanting to crowd the situation, but every moment that passed made me more and more apprehensive of his simmering anger. It was rolling off of him in waves. I felt it in our kiss at the beginning, and in the way he gripped my hips so tightly as I straddled him.
In the meanwhile, I reveled in the feeling of Jacob’s warm cock filling my mouth, the way he held my hair back so sweetly. I could tell he was close by the way his hips began twitching, and I balanced myself, so I could reach one hand up to grasp his base in an attempt to coax his orgasm quickly. Jasper’s hard thrusts made it hard to keep myself up, but a few strokes of my hand, coupled with my lips around his head and Jacob was spilling into my mouth with breathy moans, squeezing his eyes shut.
Jasper followed soon after, pulling out to cum on my ass, and he pulled me up for a quick kiss on the cheek before leaning back on the bed in his cute post-orgasmic bliss, cheeks all flushed and goofy smile on his lips. I hadn’t orgasmed with them yet, but I didn’t mind. It all felt fantastic, and I was sure Cade wouldn’t let me go without cumming. Then again, he wasn’t in an awesome mood, so I guess I wasn’t so sure.
“Ready for me, sweetheart?” Cade asked with a devilish smirk, finally raising to his knees and motioning for me to lay on my back. Jacob moved from the head of the bed to allow me to rest my head there, and as he did so, he kissed my forehead and addressed Cade, saying, “Don’t go too hard on her, she’s been such a good girl.”
Cade just grinned above me, cocking his head to the side. “I won’t go too hard. Just hard enough,” he said, and my stomach flipped at the flames in his eyes.
He lined himself up with my still slick pussy and pushed in hard. Stars burst in my vision at the stretch he gave me, and I let out a simply disgusting moan. The sights and sounds of Cade fucking into me, with my legs on his shoulders, caused the two other boys in the room to begin getting hard again.
Cade pounded into me as quick and fast as he could, the angle allowing him to bottom out with every thrust. His grunts and moans above me assured me that he wasn’t just doing this to take out his anger on me, he was getting plenty of pleasure from this too. Sweat was gathering on his forehead, making his beautiful honey skin glisten as he fucked me.
It wasn’t long before I was cumming hard around him, my hands gripping the sheets as I arched my back and le
t the wolf shifter fuck me through my orgasm. He came soon after, body dropping so that our torsos were pressed together, and his face buried in my neck. Long, low moans left his mouth, and I reveled in the way he ground his hips deep into me.
“God, that was good,” I moaned.
Jasper let out a little laugh from the chair he had been sitting in, and Jacob smiled as well.
“Glad everyone thought so,” Cade said with a small smile as he pulled away from me, “Let’s do it again.”
I was glad he had come around to my way of thinking.

Chapter One
Anson
The view outside my office is bleak as I get ready for today’s impromptu meeting. It’s an important one given everything that’s happened. The betrayal of Pax and Tamir compounded with the fact that the Mathis clan is circling our compound, it’s all a lot to be dealing with. It’s the most that’s happened on the Stayman land in a long while.
We’ve known peace for so many years. Maybe we’ve gotten complacent in that time. But I’m the alpha, goddammit! This is the kind of stuff I’m here to fix, and I’m going to fucking fix it! The Staymans are a mighty and powerful pack. We can overcome anything thrown our way.
I finish getting ready and enter the meeting hall. The elders are already gathered, whispering amongst themselves. We’ve been having a lot more of these meetings lately. One of my least favorite things when it comes to being alpha is the administrative tasks. It wasn’t always like this. Our old texts have documented how things have been for the Staymans. As the pack got bigger, things had to change. With growth comes growing pains.
