Mother once said their marriage would enhance both family’s position in society. Love never enters the equation until scandal strikes years later. Poor Phillip withers in a federal prison, falsely charged with embezzlement, but does her social circles or the society page believe her? Hardly. No woman of Elizabeth’s station could meet the required obligations expected by society with her husband locked away in prison. He is innocent! Their family name is at stake.

Last Christmas, Detective Carhill helped Sylvia, one of her closest and dearest friends. True to his word, he keeps the entire ordeal from inking the papers. He is even rather adept in his investigation. Elizabeth pulls her finest stationery from the drawer. Her heart pulses as it never has before when thinking of Phillip. She shirks it away. Mother says a society woman has no time for love.
