  To the reader,

Stick around at the end of the book for the excerpt from ‘Revenge has Come’, the nineteenth FBI book coming in July of 2017. It will answer some of your questions.

I hope you enjoy the ride.

  Much love, mayhem, and murder,

  MORGAN

He loves you, Elizabeth. He loves you to death…

  prologue

  Washington DC

She was the woman of his dreams. He’d known it the second he’d seen her. Only, she would never take him seriously. She wouldn’t even notice him if their paths had crossed.

  How did he know?

He followed her all the time, trying to get her to notice he was alive.

  Nothing.

  He was invisible.

Now he had to get her attention, and because of his desperation, he’d do anything at all.

He had to find a way to get her to notice him, and it wasn’t going to be easy. She was married, and she had two big men at her side.

  ALL THE TIME.

  They were scary.

The two of them looked like they could beat the hell out of the Greeks Gods, and not even break into a sweat. Yeah, they were dangerous, and he knew it. There was no conceivable way he could go at her head on, so he would have to be tricky.

He’d have to use his brain.

The pen was mightier than the sword, and he was going to outline the perfect plan.

  Oh, he’d get to her.

  One way or another.

The rational part of his brain said don’t do it, but there was that part of him that wanted her more than he wanted to breathe. Would the men be dangerous?

  Yes.

  Would it be worth it?

  Absolutely.

For her, he’d risk it. While her husbands were more than he ever wanted to encounter in life, she was so precious a commodity and worth it.

  He had to have her.

  She had to be his.

Elizabeth Blackhawk was worth the risk and reward.

When he saw her on the news, she was all dolled up for a function. Her hair was swept up in some sultry up do, and she was wearing a blood red dress. It cut low in the bodice, showing off what the good Lord gave her.

  She was stunning.

No, that wasn’t even close. She reminded him of some dark fallen angel meant to tempt men everywhere. As she walked down the red carpet, the reporters were even staring.

  He was in love.

  She was perfect.

There was only one thing that ruined it for him. She was on the arm of her husband, Jackson James, as they wen
t to a party. She was someone else’s arm candy, and that displeased him.

She was ever the dream. She was absolutely priceless, and he had to own her.

Only, he couldn’t just charge at her.

  No.

  He couldn’t.

He had to find a way for her to notice him.

  But how?

She was a gorgeous butterfly, gracefully fluttering from flower to flower, and she would be perfect in his life. He longed to add her to his list of conquests.

She’d be his favorite, of course.

  He had to reach her.

Once he got to her, he’d keep her forever.

He’d never let her go, and he’d make sure that she was forever his.

She’d be the love of his life.

  How did he know?

  His heart knew.

  His body knew.

  His soul called to hers.

Being with her was all he craved in life. From the minute he got up, to the second he closed his eyes, she was supposed to be his.

  Yes.

  His.

  It had to be her.

So, he was going to woo her.

He’d write her some love poems, he’d leave her a trail of clues, and if she was smart enough, and he knew she was, she’d find him.

With Elizabeth, he had to reach her in a way she’d find memorable. Yes, he could try and woo her away from the filthy Indians, but that might take time.

  He could buy her gifts.

Again, it was time he didn’t want to waste. She was meant to be his, and he had to move fast. Who knew who would try to abscond her next?

No, he needed a romantic way to get her attention. He had to have a way to get her to take notice of him, and for her to continue to play.

  How?

He wracked his brain, hoping to find something that would make her work hard enough to get in the mood.

  This was foreplay.

This was their way of being a couple. This was the early stage in their relationship, and he had to seduce her.

In his mind, he was dating her.

  There would be presents.

  Flowers.

  Romantic letters.

He just had to have a way to make her focus on the man who would love her forever.

  He was puzzled.

Then, he did what he did best.

  He thought about it.

As he sat there, it came to him. He’d read an article on her, and it talked about her great love for her children. It talked about how she always wanted to be a mother, but never thought she could pull it off being an agent. She’d mentioned it was a balancing act, but her kids came first.

Her great love of children was the way to her heart. Since she was a mother, she would empathize with one.

  Perfect.

  It was time.

He knew exactly what he had to do to get her attention and keep it. It was all about taking care of this minor little detail, and he would have what he wanted in life.

  HER.

Forever and ever, she’d be his precious little butterfly. She’d be his greatest gift.

No one could stop him either. Not the rest of the FBI, and not the men she called husbands.

  No.

It was all about him and what was coming.

He had a date with Elizabeth Whitefox-Blackhawk, and it was going to be one she never forgot.

And if she tried to flutter away…

He’d break her wings off and watch her die a horrible death.

  Three Days Later

He always found the prettiest flowers here. It was a cornucopia of bounty, and all he had to do was choose the one he craved most. Too bad Elizabeth wasn’t among them there.

She’d be alluring dressed as a hooker.

He’d pay top dollar to be with her.

Now he was settling for second best. While it was okay, it wouldn’t hold him off for long.

  Still…

He had to bide his time.

They were suitable for what he had planned. All he had to do was drive up and pick the one he liked best.

They just seemed to flock to this corner. He’d used them before, and he liked them.

They weren’t out to screw him over, but instead, they were all about satisfying his needs. A man liked that in a woman. Long gone were the days where the woman would serve on her knees, making sure the man was happy.

He bet Elizabeth was Heaven on her knees.

No wonder those two men stuck like glue to her. He would too.

  Damn them!

  She was his!

It took him a second to calm down. He simply focused on the hookers and whores, and he was better.

  How could he not be?

They were pretty flowers waiting to be plucked from the garden.

  He liked that about them.

  He liked all of them.

It was going to be hard to choose which one would be dying. They were all worthy of death.

  Sick.

  Perverse.

  Twisted.

Oh, and those were their good qualities.

  Then he saw her.

There was the one who was extra special. She was one who would keep him entertained, and she had that one thing the others lacked.

  She was perfect.

It was like she just knew he needed her services.

As he pulled up, she leaned in the window. The second she saw him, she recognized him.

“Hey, handsome. I just saw you two days ago. You up for another round?”

Oh, he was definitely up for this game.

He had a timeline, and she was now part of it.

  “Someone is horny.”

  How could he not be?

He was thinking about the woman he really wanted. He was thinking about how she would be his last flower, but first he had to set the scene and do the work.

  No good romance just happened.

  It took planning.

“Are you okay?” she asked, staring at him.

It got his attention, breaking the spell. He had to focus, but it was so damn hard.

“Yes, I am. How about we head out? I have cash, and I need your services.”

She smiled. “Good! My feet are killing me! I could use some time on my back.”

  Oh, she had no idea.

He unlocked the doors, and she hopped into the vehicle. When she did, her hand immediately went to his crotch.

He liked eager, but tonight…there was something else planned. The night wasn’t going to go the same way she thought it would. Oh, someone would be getting off, but it wouldn’t be her. She had her job, and it was simply to be bait.

He had a much bigger, better-prized fish to catch.

As he pulled away from the curb, she looked hot.

  “Air?” he asked.

She kissed him on the cheek. “Bless you. Can I have a water?” she asked, pointing at the two of them sitting in the cup holders.

“Sure. I actually got one for you when I stopped at the Quick-e Mart.”

“You’re such a gentleman. A girl really appreciates that in a man.”

  He smiled.

  Oh, he was well aware.

She watched as he unscrewed the lid from one bottle as he drove.

  “Thank you, sugar.”

  “You are very welcome.”

“So what do you have planned for tonight?” she asked, holding the water bottle in her hand as she fanned herself to get cool.

Oh, where to even begin. “I want it all.”

All he did know was she was perfect.

He actually picked her because of her accent. He picked her because she looked like Elizabeth. The Southern in her voice was attractive, and if he closed his eyes, he could pretend it was her.

  God!

He wanted it to be her. When he opened up his eyes, and it wasn’t who he really wanted, he had to fight the bitter disappointment.

  Shit!

Still, he had to press on.

“Bottoms up,” he teased as he forced a grin to his tense face.

She laughed and patted his arm. “It will be later if you pay me.”

He laughed along as she finished the water. It wouldn’t be long now. He only had to get some information from her to start the fun.

  “How’s your daughter?”

She shrugged. “I couldn’t find a sitter tonight. She’s at home asleep in her crib.”

“Oh, honey, that’s bad. You shouldn’t leave your child alone like that.”

She appreciated his concern, but a girl had to work. She couldn’t rely on a man. It meant strolling the streets in DC. She was simply lucky that her pimp wasn’t out of control and he cut her a break.

He was tolerant of her needs as a mother.

That was all she could ask for in a pimp.

She yawned. “Well, if you pay me really well, I can head home. You know I have to pay the pimp, and I’m clear.”

He handed her his wallet. “Take what you need. I can’t, in good conscious, allow you to leave your child alone. I have needs, but you have to put children first. Do you like children?” he asked.
