“Hopefully they get back all right,” Eric said, worried about the snow.
"They're not traveling too far," Damien kissed his cheek. "Are you going to be ready to go to your parents’ house on Saturday?"
“Yes?” Eric scratched his arm and looked at the window. “I did tell them I would introduce them to my partner when I got there and was very vague on details. Told them you can cook, you’re really good at talking to people, and you have a respectable job. It is enough to hold them over until we make the uh, big reveal.” Damien lifted his chin to look at him again and ran a thumb over his cheek.
“No matter what happens, we will get through it together. Help me clean up the dinner though Eric, I don’t want to waste any of that good food,” he hummed and pecked his lips after getting a nod.
Chapter Fourteen
Eric had to ride in the passenger seat because he was too nervous and fidgety to drive. Damien was playing music that would hopefully calm him down. “We brought a present, food, and a spare change of clothes for the worst-case scenario,” he murmured, picking at his lips. His hand was gently pushed down by Damien and kissed his fingers by pulling them over.
“I think what you should do is take a big breath and know that they won’t hate you forever. They already know you’re gay and have been in denial for whatever reason they might have so they won’t stop talking to you.” Deep breathing to slow breathing, Eric got himself to a point where his chest didn’t feel tight.
“Presenting my boyfriend to my parents makes me happy. My parents’ possible reaction to meeting you is probably the least exciting part, but there is a very small chance they will accept it and not get mad or kick us out,” he said trying to be optimistic but he didn’t sound sure of himself.
“Any good chance is big enough to make the situation better for both of us, baby. Do you want me to help you at all? Talking to people is a strong suit of mine when I put in the work for it.” He reached over and squeezed his thigh to make him feel better, “Right next to you, just squeeze my hand or pull my sleeve. If you need to leave just tap my hand twice.”
“Tap twice, I can do that,” he held Damien’s hand and noticed the street signs were getting familiar. The houses were very similar in shape and color before they arrived at his tan-colored house. Pulling up in the driveway, it was cleared of snow from a snowblower his father owned.
Approaching the front door, he texted them both that they had arrived and Damien kind of kept his head down behind him. “Eric, did you bring your girlfriend?” His mother asked as soon as she opened the door but her face fell upon seeing Damien.
“No, not a girlfriend Mom,” he stood there for a moment and she slowly let them enter. “This is Damien, he works as a detective at the police station, he drove us here and made this casserole for dinner.”
“Your father isn’t going to like this. I don’t like it either. We told you to stop with this hobby of yours,” she said sternly and Eric reached back to grab a hold of Damien’s bigger hand.
“Honey, have you let them inside?” Hendricks questioned as he came out into the entry hall. “Who is this?” His face fell into an immediate frown as Eric cleared his throat again.
“This is my boyfriend Damien he works as a detective-”
“Young man, I don’t care what job he has but he needs to leave now. Why do you insist upon making our lives so hard by pursuing this?” He stepped forward to try and make Damien leave but Eric moved in the way.
“Don’t you touch him, I am gay. Homosexual, I like men not women and that is never going to change no matter how much you try to pressure me to date some girl I can never love!” For the first time, he had raised his voice in anger at his parents.
Hendricks got red in the face and pointed at the door while looking at Eric, “Both of you leave now, I will not have a child disrespecting me in such a way.”
“Fine, but don’t expect me to ever come crawling back because I can be my own man now without you breathing down my neck,” Eric turned around and followed Damien out. When his father went to slam the door, he did it himself instead. “I’m going to marry this man and there is nothing you can do to stop me!”
“I think I just fell for you all over again baby,” Damien kissed him and they sat in the car. “Are you all right? You’re looking kind of pale,” he whispered and pet his hair.
“Actually, I’m feeling strangely dizzy,” Eric mumbled and Damien noticed he was burning up.
“Let’s start driving home and we can take you to the doctor when we get back,” he buckled him up since he was losing energy. “Stress can make you physically ill and you were stressed all week about the trip. Maybe we should just go to a place here, you’re on my insurance anyway.”
“Might be a good idea,” he slumped in his seat, Damien setting the casserole in the back.
“Hang in there Eric,” was the last thing he heard before passing in and out. Damien still took him to the hospital and carried him inside, they gave him an IV and took a few tests. Soon he was given some pain medicine and other things that Damien couldn’t focus on. Eyes fluttered and Damien was on his feet next to him, “Hey, are you all right?”
“Where?” He looked dazed and confused from being in a different setting.
“Hospital, you gave me a little bit of a scare there, babe,” Damien kissed his head and pet his hair. “They said they’ll release you and give you a prescription if you’re having symptoms besides the fever. Let me call the doctor in for you,” he said in a soft voice, a nod of the response being all he got from his boyfriend.
Releasing him took a few hours due to the busy schedule of the doctors, a lot of sick cases coming in with the usual Thanksgiving weekend rush. “Sorry, this must have been the worst way to end a meeting with my parents. I was probably sick from earlier and the stress drove me over my limit.”
“I’m just glad you didn’t faint and hit your head on the ground,” Damien said, carrying him out to the car. Despite Eric’s insistence, Damien carried him upstairs to bed not wanting him to possibly fall. Luckily the pharmacy had the medicine ready when they arrived, Damien gave him the proper dose with a glass of water.
“Thanks, Damien, I would have been in trouble if I didn’t have you,” he blew him a kiss, not wanting to spread the sickness to him.
“You would be alone and sick without affection from your boyfriend and apparently future husband from what you said.” He smirked at the blush forming in his cheeks and tucked him in under the lighter covers.
“So, you remember me yelling that? I half hoped you would forget it but yes, I do want to marry you someday. It is too soon to propose though, once we’ve lived together long and um other things. Too tired to think about it now,” Eric waved a hand at him and snuggled up under the blankets to sleep.
“Good night Eric,” Damien whispered, patting his head. Exiting the room, he walked down the hall to the guest bedroom to sit on the bed and call Eric’s parents. The whole thing made him quite upset considering how badly it affected his soul mate, plus his parents acted as if he was rebelling for trying to be happy.
“This is Hendricks Thorens speaking,” the voice of the father sounded distant.
“Hello, I never got the chance to properly speak to you. Please do not hang up as I have something very important to say to you,” Damien used his most courteous tone.
“You have two minutes, and don’t you say anything rude or I’ll hang up immediately,” Hendricks said with a puff of air.
“Mister Thorens, Eric just came back from a hospital visit. He got so stressed he caused himself to get worse after catching a cold. The reason I tell you this is because this whole trip was planned for us to visit you. All he wants is for you to accept who he is and to stop trying to change him with tricks like random dates,” Damien took a breath and waited for any kind of response.
“He disrespected me and brought a man into our house. I will not forgive it again.
“Sir, all I ask is that you try
to find it in yourself to still love your son. He never bad mouths either of you, and often talks of how you’ve helped him out. Even when others have said nasty things, he will not agree to what they say.” Foot tapping impatiently, he had to stand up and start pacing the room while he talked.
“And how would you know this?”
“To be perfectly honest with you, I have been dating Eric for much longer than he led you to believe. Fearful of being disowned and hated, he didn’t want to tell you, but with our relationship getting more serious he decided now was the best time. I’m sorry if you cannot accept our being together but we do have plans and goals like any other couple, including children. Please try to find it in your heart to speak with your son after he’s over this cold and stress illness.”
The phone clicked and he wasn’t able to tell whether the call was good or bad, he simply had done his best to secure a better conclusion. What happened next was up to his partner’s parents and how much they were willing to understand about their son.
Chapter Fifteen
February came and Eric sat on the porch staring at the stars that made it through the light hanging over the city, his hand holding a glass of soda with a small amount of vanilla rum mixed in. Earlier his parents had called saying that after he was kicked out of their house the previous year, all the money from his other bank account was taken away. "Eric? Sweetheart, what are you doing out here?"
Damien walked out to sit next to him on the porch swing they had picked out together, making it slowly rock by the movement. "Babe, I feel as though I'm free. Like a bird or a seed ready to be planted anywhere I drop. Do you think it's wrong of me to bask in the knowledge that my parents will not demand me to live like their child anymore? I was getting so stressed, that hospital trip opened my eyes, you know?"
"A bad feeling? No, I don't think so. Perhaps more of a relief to you is better than feeling constantly crushed under the weights of people who seem to have had their own agenda in mind. Now, they haven't disowned you, they just decided to no longer support you. I personally think that's fine because what you've shown me is that you can learn and work hard like everyone else." Gently Damien pulled him in close so Eric had his head on the taller man's shoulder, kissing him on the lips in a sweet kiss.
"I got so lucky, you're the best boyfriend," he hummed and kissed him again but deeper. Their tongues were soon tangled and he moaned as he got into Damien's lap. "It's a good thing this is the back porch," he winked, getting an eye-roll in response. With ease, he was picked up by the thighs and brought inside to the living room where they shut the curtains.
"We'll try it outside when there's a pool and it's not so out in the open," Damien chuckled at Eric's pouting expression. "I know how to put a different look on your face."
"Wait, Damien!" It was too late because he was already being stripped and his hips pulled up so only his upper back was touching the couch. After searching around with kissing on his thighs, Damien went into his inner thigh and started sucking. The first time he found the spot was by accident but it always made Eric moan and squirm around. "Damien, that's-not fair!" He held back because he wanted to be stubborn, but it only made his partner suck harder.
“You’re cute when you squirm like that,” he smirked and watched his dick twitching. Seeing him so turned on made Damien happy, his dick wanting some of the attention. “Do you want me to touch you there too?”
“Yes please,” Eric breathed out and groaned when he got deep throated. His ass was slowly getting stretched with careful maneuvers before his fingers were massaging against his prostate to get him to cum one time. “Oh fuck, that’s the spot!” With a groan, he moved himself a bit to be more comfortable. Gasping and panting he put his hands into Damien’s hair when he started getting close. “Babe, I’m gonna cum like that!”
Damien pulled back when Eric squished his head between his legs, swallowing, “Now that helped you relax and feel good. Maybe you should put your hands against the wall.” Winking he let Eric catch his breath, soon he stood up and put his hands against the wall with his ass out.
“Are you going to fill me up,” he teased, he got his answer as the tip of Damien’s cock pushed inside of him.
“I’m going to screw you until you’re not able to stand. Then I’m going to do it until you’re too tired for another round.” A moan escaped rather loudly when he pushed all the way in. “Tight as usual,” he whispered. Thrusting slow, he groaned as he held onto Eric’s waist while he held himself up against the wall, glad they kept the curtains shut.
“You’re so hot,” he arched his back in with a groan. Eric held himself up for as long as he could but when Damien started grinding on his prostate, he struggled to keep his legs from giving out. “I love you,” he breathed out, a clock in the other room booming the hour above the panting.
“Happy Valentine’s Day,” Damien whispered against his ear. “I love you too,” he whispered and turned him around to fuck him.
“You are so sneaky,” he whispered and kissed him. Strong hands got under his thighs and lifted him up so his back was pressed against the wall. “Happy Valentine’s Day, hot stuff.” The first round then finished with Damien holding Eric to the wall and sucking on his chest to get him to squirm. Their second round started up in the bedroom, the smaller male being carried up with his partner’s cock still inside of him.
The younger man was laid down in missionary position and groaned as he started getting thrust into again. Panting and kissing they pressed their lips together as tongues tangled in a dance, fighting for power. It ended up that Eric won that round, pushing Damien onto his back and starting to ride him. Despite them living together, they kept their intimacy to special moments.
“Fuck, babe you’re so thick,” he moaned with a hand on his own dick, jerking himself off.
“You’ve gotten good at riding me,” Damien hummed and moved into him, squeezing his ass. “Plump ass making you look sexy as all hell, baby.”
“Do you like my big butt? I know you like it when I squeeze you,” Eric squeezed down on him with a purpose and started rolling his hip. Quietly he moaned, leaning down to kiss on Damien’s pecks and hands sliding over his muscular body to admire him. “Such a toned body, you could hold me down if you wanted to,” he teased, getting his hips grabbed. Not much warning was given before Damien started pounding into him, the slaps of thighs on ass filled the room.
“I could hold you up and fuck you for hours,” Damien smirked as Eric was getting tense. Both of them were getting close as their sweat mixed as well as their heat, kissing again in a passionate but rough manner. A mix of a low groan and a higher-pitched moan filled the room as they came together. “Holy shit, you got so hot,” he stated with heavy breathing.
“You got bigger,” Eric whispered with his head resting on his shoulder not about to move off of him.
“I have a present for you in the car. So, if you let me go get it, I’ll take a shower with you afterward,” Damien said softly, moving hair out of his face. Sticky and sweaty, they both needed a shower but Damien didn’t often shower together because he liked to sing in the shower.
“Sounds good to me, babe,” Eric hummed, kissing him as he climbed off, Damien taking off the condom that held up. “You’re so good to me,” he waited until Damien left the room to grab his present from his wardrobe. Laying it on the bed, he put on a robe going on his side with his head leaning on an elbow.
“All right, I got the gift.” Damien had put on shorts and a t-shirt even though it was cold but he had worked up a sweat so the cold air kind of felt nice. His eyes were met with his boyfriend in a fluffy white bathrobe and a gift laying on the bed with his name scrawled all over the paper.
“And here is your present,” exchanging gifts, they both tore them open and grinned at each other. “How did you know I liked these kinds of things?”
“You just talked about it once,” Damien smiled as he put the new woodworking tools aside then taking out his favorite kind of c
andy. “I’m wondering how you figured out what I didn’t have,” he mumbled looking over the tools after eating a piece of the candy.
“I went through a whole list and remembered what you said you wanted to do more of,” Eric had a new set of candles and lights to put around his office area. “This will be perfect, and you got me all kinds of treats.” As gifts extras, he got a lot of different candies and some easy to make milkshake recipes that were his favorite.
“See, this is what I love about our relationship, you know me perfectly,” Damien said and kissed him on the lips a few times. “I’m glad to live a long life with you by my side.”
“That’s good because you aren’t about to get anyone else as long as I’m around,” Eric hugged him tight and they both went to his office. “Can you help me put up the lights? Then we can go take a nice long shower together where you can serenade me.”
“I’ll sing to you if you pick a good song,” Damien nudged him and the two spent the rest of Valentine’s Day showing their affections for each other.
Chapter Sixteen
To some, a wedding was a big occasion to share with a giant crowd of people, to others it was something personal to be kept among the most important people. For the pair standing in the middle of Oklahoma City after walking it was waiting for a call, a blissful and stressful time for both of them. All they were doing was getting the marriage license after getting premarital counseling, which ultimately helped them figure things out for themselves.
“Shit, my phone is ringing, what do I do?” Eric had told his parents that he was getting married to Damien. The two of them dated for two and a half years. Then they were engaged for a year and a half. Today they got their marriage license, an official four years after starting to date, but more than five years after meeting.
“Answer it, you’ll be fine,” Damien whispered, holding his hand, sitting in public because they were too excited to go home.
