Slayer's Prey Page 15

by Crystal-Rain Love

Oh good lord! she thought in horror, coming back into her right mind. She wasn’t so desperate that she would jump a hillbilly!

  Unfortunately, she was.

“All right, I found us a place to stay,” Jake said, sliding back into the driver’s seat. Nyla had been too busy lusting after the pudgy, dirty, and probably smelly hillbilly to notice him leaving the store. She needed to feed the Heat . . . and quick.

“Are you all right, Nyla? You’re squeezing the hell out of that door handle.”

“Fine,” she said too quickly, almost conveying the panic she felt.

Jake studied her a moment, shook his head, and pulled away from the curb. She closed her eyes and slumped back against the seat. She’d waited too long. She’d done it before, tried to ignore the Heat until it became unbearable, until she couldn’t control it enough to select a decent partner. At this stage, she’d screw anything that had a functional penis. Dammit! It didn’t usually hit this fast, but she’d been around Jake so long—Jake, who fed her desire like no one else ever could.

Jake, who was with her now. She cracked her eyes open and let her hungry gaze roll over him. She’d rather mate with him than with the men in this town—or any man in the world, for that matter.

“Pull over,” she commanded, the sudden images of his naked body rolling through her mind too much to bear. She needed release, and she needed it now.

“Why? What’s wrong?” Jake looked at her, confusion in his eyes.

Nyla glanced around, quickly studying their whereabouts. She couldn’t just start doing him on the street while people strolled about leisurely, even if they were in the pseudo-privacy of Jake’s car. She looked at the small buildings around them, all of them looking as if they’d come off the Little House on the Prairie set. There were no alleys, no dark corners. She looked beyond the town, noting where the road split, a section of it twisting up into a wooded area.

“Up there,” she pointed. “Follow that road.”

  “Why?”

“Just do it,” she snapped, her voice a near-growl. Heat was pooling between her thighs along with the pain of not feeding her lust. If she was forced to wait much longer, she’d crawl into his lap while he drove and get them both killed.

Jake looked at her with wide eyes, but followed her order, turning the steering wheel left to follow the road as it wound into the woods. It didn’t take long for them to reach a secluded area. They were on top of a hill, no nearby buildings or sidewalks people could come strolling down.

“Pull over and cut the engine,” she demanded while analyzing the situation. They had adequate coverage, and, thanks to Jake’s height, his seat was already pushed far enough back to allow her the room she needed.

Again, Jake did as she instructed. “What’s up? What’s go—”

Before he could finish the question, she straddled his lap and fused her mouth with his. She didn’t have time for questions, conversation, or gentleness. She needed him inside her, but first she had to kiss him. She had to taste what she’d been longing for, fantasizing about for years.

And it was everything she’d imagined and more. Even through the haze of Heat her heart still sang. Normally, she shut down everything when the Heat took over, numbing herself so that only her body went through the motions, but with Jake, she allowed herself to feel their union on an emotional level, and it was wondrous. Lips caressed, tongues explored, and each stroke sent her spiraling deeper into euphoria.

Although he matched her passion with fervor, it was Jake who pulled away, breaking the kiss. “What the hell got into you?” he asked, his breathing labored. Nyla could feel the adrenaline flowing through his body, most of it was headed toward his erection, struggling to be released from its zippered prison.

“Don’t you want me?” she asked, lowering her hands to the snap on his jeans, desperate to let him spring free.

“Wait.” Jake covered her hands with his. He licked his lips, and the action stoked a hundred little fires inside Nyla’s core. But, dammit, he was stopping her!

“I thought you liked me, Jake,” she purred, rubbing seductively against the rock hard lump in his jeans.

“Oh, believe me, I do, and this is a wet dream come true, but you keep coming on to me and then stopping.”

“I’m not stopping now. You are.”

“Do you really want this? Believe me, I want you, but I don’t want you regretting it. We’re in a car for one thing, and we still have to work together. Something bad is going down here and I need your help—”

“Quit talking,” she murmured against his lips, sliding her hand down to cup him through the fabric of his jeans. “The vampires can wait,” she added giving him a little squeeze and smiling as he gasped.

  “But—”

  “Jake?”

  “Yeah?”

  “Shut up and fuck me.”

His eyes grew wide, his jaw suddenly slack—the complete opposite of the part of him she stroked with her hand. With a big gulp and a nod, he complied.

  “Yes, ma’am.”

Jake had wanted to make love with Nyla from the very first moment he’d laid eyes on her, but he hadn’t thought that when the time came he’d be worried whether the shocks on his car could take it. She’d yanked his pants open so fast that he was surprised they didn’t burst at the seams, and had somehow managed to get rid of her own jeans and panties in a matter of seconds before impaling herself upon his erection.

In a state of surprised shock, he hadn’t done anything when she started grinding on top of him, allowing him to fill her completely before pulling back, only to ram against him with a force which would have hurt most women. She didn’t seem to mind at all. In fact, he thought he’d actually heard her purr once or twice.

Not one to let his partner do all the work, he grabbed two handfuls of hips and angled his pelvis, thrusting into her each time she slid her eager body down the length of his shaft. The car rocked as they ground against each other forcibly, almost violently, and a part of him worried that he might not be giving as much pleasure as he was receiving.

He’d had women of different shapes, sizes, races, and skill levels, but he’d never had one who moved like this. As hard as he tried to match each of her thrusts with one of his own, he found himself falling behind.

She rode him until he found himself wondering if he’d need a penis-splint when it was over, but he never wanted this sweet torture to end. Her teeth nipped at him as her claw-like nails dug into his flesh, but the pain was like a drug. He didn’t care if she tore him to pieces, as long as he was still thrust deep inside her when she did it. And when she’d had her fill, he knew he’d want another hit.

He slid his seat back to its limit, allowing her more room to maneuver as he closed his eyes and held on, allowing her to do as she pleased on top of him. He struggled not to come first, to hold out until she got everything she needed.

What she needed was rough and kinky, he realized as she continued grinding against him with the unbelievable speed she’d started with, and then sank her teeth into him. He’d been licked and nipped, but never full-out bitten during sex. He didn’t mind it, although she held the skin of his neck between her teeth and bit down just hard enough to hurt. It was like she wanted to eat him alive, couldn’t get enough of him. And he couldn’t get enough of the fact that it was his body joined with hers that made her growl deep in her throat when she finally came, allowing him to let go and fall over the edge of ecstasy from which he’d been dangling.

Starbursts of color shot before his eyes, and his mind went blank, making him feel as if the only part of his body capable of functioning properly was pumping away inside Nyla. She fell over him, panting heavily against his chest, completely spent.

With the last bit of energy he could muster, he wrapped his arms around her, reaching beneath her shirt to st
roke her sweat-dampened back. He wanted to keep her here in his arms, half-naked, satisfied, and full of him. “Damn, girl,” he said breathlessly. “You’re an animal.”

Abruptly, she jerked to a sitting position, her eyes wide and laced with a horror no man wanted to see after having intercourse with the woman of his dreams.

  “Nyla? What is it?”

She shook her head from side to side, the unmistakable look of panic in her eyes. She raised her hand to her mouth, whimpering softly, before scrambling away from his body and back into the passenger seat, hastily pulling on her jeans and boots.

“What’s wrong?” Jake asked, quickly pulling his jeans back up. He’d obviously done something wrong, but he had no idea what.

She didn’t respond. Instead, she finished dressing, opened the passenger side door and ran into the woods.

“Well, so much for cuddling afterwards,” Jake griped, finding the shirt he didn’t recall being taken off, and exiting the car to chase after her.

  Chapter Fourteen

NYLA RAN THROUGH the trees at a blurring speed, desperate to hide herself from Jake. She’d done it. She’d done exactly what she’d wanted to avoid. She’d had sex with Jake—wild, uninhibited, carnal sex, just like a damn animal. He couldn’t have pegged her more correctly.

She fell to her knees at the side of a narrow stream, the thought of jumping into the water to cleanse herself running through her mind, but it would be no use. She would still feel dirty.

She shuddered as she recalled using her nails to bring blood to Jake’s skin, lapping up the crimson dessert like the animal she was. She’d held his skin between her teeth, barely stopping herself from tearing into his flesh, feasting on him while he allowed her to use him. He’d been her prey, and he didn’t even know it. She could have killed him.

How could she face him again? She cringed as she recalled the way she’d mounted him, the way she’d ridden him like a damn mechanical bull. She could only imagine just how cheap he thought she was.

  “Nyla?”

She cringed at the gentle, careful tone of Jake’s voice. She kept her back to him as she listened to his slow approach, not wanting to see what lay in his eyes. “Go away, Jake.”

“No.” He stopped walking toward her but made no move to leave.

  “Just leave me alone, Porter.”

  “No.”

Damn him! She’d always loved his stubbornness, but at the moment it was chafing her nerves. This was one moment his persistence was not good.

“Why did you run away, Nyla?”

“I don’t really want to talk to you right now. Just, please, leave me alone.”

“We came here together to do a job, and I’m not going to leave you up here on this hill while I wait in the car for you to get over whatever it is you’re getting over.”

  “Then don’t wait. Go.”

“What the hell is wrong with you?” he asked incredulously. “We’ve got things to do.”

“Then do them by yourself,” she said. In fact, she decided that Nyla should go and Alley should watch over him in case the danger she feared was real.

“Dammit, Nyla. I asked you if you were sure about having sex, and even though you said yes, I knew this was going to happen!”

“Then maybe you should have done something to stop it!”

She could almost hear his jaw dropping open moments before his hand clamped around her arm, yanking her to her feet and wheeling her around to face him. She tried to avert her eyes, but he grabbed her chin, holding her so that she was forced to meet his gaze.

“How was I supposed to stop you?”

She didn’t answer. Shame gave her the strength she needed to break her chin free of his hold and turn her head. She didn’t want to look at him, to know he was seeing her as she truly was. A whore. She became a whore two or three times a year when she was hit with the Heat. And she hated herself for it.

Unable to pound her fists against her own body, she hit Jake square in the chest. His eyes showed surprise, but he didn’t move. She hit him again. And again. Then she started to beat at his chest with both hands while he stood there motionless, taking her assault without a word. She hit him faster, harder, but he stayed as still as a statue.

Finally, she realized she wasn’t going to get a response out of him, and she cried, “Why won’t you hit me back?”

He looked at her, anger and sorrow meshed together in his gaze. “I’m not stupid, Nyla. You want me to hit you so you’ll have a good reason to hate me. I’m not going to give it to you.”

“Damn you,” she growled. He was going to stay perfect, which only made what she’d done with him hurt that much worse. Shamed and angry, she threw another punch, this one directed at his face.

Jake grabbed her fist before it reached its target and spun her around, using his other arm to catch her around the waist and pulling her back against his chest.

  “Let me go!”

“Not a chance,” he said, holding on tight. “But I’ll consider it when you quit acting like a child.”

“Get. Off. Me,” she warned, fighting harder against his hold, but to no avail. He held her in a death grip, a grip no other man could have used on her. But what had she expected? He was a slayer. If he truly wanted to keep her here, her strength didn’t matter. Still, she’d never given up easily, and she wasn’t about to start doing so now.

Kicking one leg behind her, she hooked one of his ankles with her foot and sent them both tumbling to the ground, but he still held on. “Get off me, Porter!”

“So you can run from me? I don’t think so.”

  “Get off of her, Jake.”

They both twisted their heads around, focusing on the little man who had joined them on the hill. He stood about five-foot-eight, slender and wiry. His hair was short and a mousy brown color, his nose sharp and pointed. Hazel eyes, full of contempt, stared down at them. If she hadn’t recognized him from his boyhood, Nyla would have never known he was related to Jake.

“Well, hi there, Cousin Peewee,” Jake said, his tone a mixture of fake joyfulness and genuine irritation. “Would you mind leaving us alone for a moment?”

“No, I will not leave you alone,” Peewee responded. “I hope you know the whole town could see your little performance, and I’m not the least bit happy finding out one of the two people up here mating like bunnies in springtime is my cousin.”

“What?” Jake asked. Nyla was too embarrassed to speak as she replayed Peewee’s words in her mind.

“You might not have been able to see the town from where you parked your car, but with a good pair of binoculars, they could see you. Miss Harper about died when she looked out her kitchen window and saw the two of you putting on your little show. The woman is an eighty-three-year-old virgin for crying out loud. She liked to have had a stroke.”

“Well, maybe Miss Harper should learn not to use binoculars when she takes a glance out her kitchen window,” Jake said while Nyla groaned from embarrassment beneath him. She felt as though she were living her childhood dream of walking into school completely naked. Oh, how she wanted to run. She struggled to get up, but Jake wouldn’t budge.

“Leave us alone, Peewee,” she heard Jake say, followed by the unmistakable sound of his gun’s safety being clicked off. From her position, belly down on the ground, Nyla could only see his arm, and the gun in his hand that was aimed at his own cousin. “I’m going to run out of patience soon, and asking won’t even be a thought in my head.”

Peewee’s eyes grew as round as saucers, and he rested his shaking hand on the butt of his own gun, still in its holder at his waist. “Dammit, Jake, I’m the law around here—”

“Goodie for you, you’re king of the hillbillies. Now leave. My partner and I were in the middle of a discussion.”

  “Oh, so that’s wh
at you call it now?” Peewee asked, derisively.

Jake cocked the gun, obviously not amused.

“Don’t push me, Jake. I could lock you in a jail cell for the night,” Peewee warned with a quiver in his voice, but there was determination in his eyes. Nyla prayed Jake wouldn’t push him too far. The man was wise enough to know Jake could beat him to a pulp, but he had a badge now and that gave a man like him strength when backed into a corner.

“Peewee, you could lock me in a jail cell for the rest of my life, but it’s not gonna make that left nut grow back, is it?” Jake asked, angling his gun so it pointed directly at Peewee’s genitalia.

The man let out a curse, his face reddening. “I never did like you.”

“Likewise, punk. That’s why I glued your ass to the toilet seat. Now, get out of here before I decide to embarrass you in front of your entire inbred town. Besides, the longer you get on my nerves, the longer I just might stay,” he added.

“Well, we definitely wouldn’t want that,” Peewee muttered. “I’ll give you five minutes, then I’m coming back prepared to shoot.” He gave them both a good glare before turning on his heel and walking away, leaving a trail of muttered curses behind him.

“Well, that was my cousin, the mighty sheriff of Hicksville,” Jake said by way of introduction as he stood and helped Nyla up from the ground. “The family is so proud.”

Nyla remained silent, embarrassment eating her alive. She’d done a lot of shameful things in her past, but she’d never had an audience. She didn’t even want to think about how many people had seen them—or what they must think about her.

It was as if Jake had read her mind. “I’m sorry, Nyla. I had no idea we could be seen.”

“I’m sorry too,” she mumbled, sitting down on a large rock. She dropped her head into her hands and let the tears she’d been fighting back start to flow. There was no point in running away to keep Jake from seeing her fall apart. He’d just catch her.

“Nyla?” She sensed him crouch before her, felt his hands on her knees. “Nyla, don’t cry.”
