She turned her head to look at him. “Know what it’s like to get spanked, do you?”

He grinned. “Nope, but I’ve given plenty in my day, or have you forgotten about the first few months of our marriage?”

“How could I?” she complained. “I could barely sit most of the time.”

Logan sighed. “The good old days.”

  She smacked his shoulder.

“Enough talking. More spanking. And fucking.” Logan lay on his back and pulled her over him. He kissed her again. No matter what, she could always rely on Logan to get to the point. Quickly.

“Whether you want one or not, you’re getting one,” he told her. Then he obviously thought better of his words. “Unless you feel scared or unsure. Then you tell us. Understand?”

“I’m okay, Logan,” she told him gently, kissing along his jaw. “I’m not scared of you.”

She felt her underwear being pulled down her legs. She glanced back at Max. “Either of you.”

“Glad to hear it, love. You’ll still tell us if you need to stop.” It wasn’t a request.

She nodded. She knew they’d never stop being overprotective and, truthfully, she didn’t want them to. As long as they didn’t try to shut her out. She was usually the one guilty of doing that.

“Come here. I want to eat that pretty pussy.”

She blushed a little at Logan’s words, but eagerly followed his direction and climbed up his body. He positioned her over his head, her legs spread.

“Hold onto the headboard,” he ordered before pulling her down so he could reach her wet lips with his mouth. He sucked on her clit, and she grabbed hold of the headboard as support as he played with her. He drove his tongue deep inside her, and she whimpered.

“Oh, God, Logan!” she cried out. Max moved up beside her and grabbing her arm, pulled it around his neck then he dropped his head to take her nipple into his mouth.

  Oh, shit.

Her whole body shook. She was already so close to coming. Max reached down and rubbed her clit as Logan thrust his tongue in and out of her passage.

“Come, love,” Max whispered in her ear. “Come for us.”

Her body tightened further. Her desire so deep and all-consuming it was almost frightening. Then she fell over into bliss, the air whooshing from her lungs as she gave herself over to wave after wave of release.

She would have collapsed if Max hadn’t pulled her against him. He took her mouth with his, kissing her back into the here and now. Her pussy was still throbbing as he pulled back. “I love watching you come.”

“That’s good ’cause I love coming.”

“Me too,” Logan added. Enough talking. Come here and fuck me.”

She turned to Logan. He placed his hands on her hips, guiding her over him, so her legs straddled his hips.

“Take me inside you,” he ordered.

Damn, she’d missed this. The feel of their bodies surrounding her, the orgasms, the way they took control. She loved that she always knew where she stood. When they took charge, all she had to do was follow their orders. She let everything go. All her stress, her worries, everything. And as strange as she often found it, she loved following their commands—in the bedroom anyway—and she liked pleasing them. And they were never shy with their praise for her.

  “God, you feel so good.”

She threw her head back as Logan entered her. Inch by staggering inch. He was a large man, and despite the fact she was more than ready for him, it still took her a moment to adjust to the size of him.

“So do you,” she told him as he entered her fully. He drew her down against him, holding her still when she would have thrust against him.

Max ran his hand down her back and over her ass.

“I want to move,” she complained.

“Sometimes, you don’t always get what you want, do you?” Max slapped her right cheek. Oh, fuck, they had to be kidding. They seriously didn’t expect her to lie here with Logan’s cock stretching her while Max spanked her?

“Nope,” Logan told her as she wriggled. “Stay still. You’ve got a spanking coming.”

  She whimpered. “Can’t it wait?”

“Oh, no, I want this ass nice and red when I enter it,” Max said. “Besides, I think you need a spanking to remind you to behave while I’m gone.”

  Oh, hell.

He smacked his hand against her other cheek. Back and forth until her ass was hot and she was so fucking horny she couldn’t stand it. The spanks stung, but he wasn’t spanking as hard as he normally did. Her pussy squeezed Logan’s cock, and she was gratified to hear his groan.

“Damn it, Max. I’m dying here.”

Max just chuckled then delivered five more sharp spanks. “Stay still, both of you,” he warned.

  “Asshole,” Logan muttered.

She grinned against his chest then reached out and circled one nipple with her tongue.

  “Fuck it, Savannah. Stay still.”

“She being naughty?” Max asked then parted her ass cheeks. “Do I need to spank her some more?”

“No,” Savannah protested at the same time Logan did. She grinned at him then Max pressed a cool, wet finger inside her and she groaned. He added another finger, stretching her.

“You ready for this?” Logan asked.

  No. Yes. Oh, hell.

“I don’t know,” she said, and Max paused, his fingers halfway inside her. “But I want to find out. Please, don’t stop.”

“You tell us if you need to stop,” Logan ordered.

  “I’m not fragile.”

“To us, you are,” Max told her as he pressed his cock against her asshole. “Delicate and precious. Ours to protect. Ours to love. Ours to take care of. I know we can be smothering. I know we can be annoying. But we only want what’s best for you. We only want to love you.”

She relaxed against Logan. “I know. I love the two of you as well. So much.”

“Breathe in. Then let it out slowly,” he ordered as if they hadn’t done this a hundred times before. But it had been awhile, and as he pushed his way inside her, she could feel herself stretching—almost to the point of pain. But it was a good kind of pain. It felt right, having them both inside her. It felt like she was coming home after a long time away.

They moved in tandem. Max pulling out and Logan thrusting inside her. It didn’t take long until she was writhing between them, wanting more. Faster. Harder.

As if feeling her silent pleas, they increased their pace. Max reached around and rubbed her clit.

  “I’m close,” Logan cried out.

  “Come with us, love.”

She cried out as her body shook and she came, so hard she swore she almost saw stars. Logan fell over next, his loud shout filling the room. Max paused behind her, his own groan of release quieter but no less intense.

  Chapter Ten

Max snuggled up against her backside, holding her tightly.

“I should be the one to go.” Logan’s words were spoken quietly so as not to wake their sleeping wife. She needed her rest.

  “Travis is expecting me.”

“She needs you. You’re better at the emotional shit than me.”

“I haven’t been doing great so far. She needs you as well, Logan.”

“How am I supposed to look after this place without you?”

Their stepfather had done a real number on Logan. Told him over and over again he was stupid, that he’d never amount to anything. “I wouldn’t go if I didn’t think you could handle everything, Logan. Probably better than I could.”

“Well, duh, that goes without saying.”

Max hid his smile. “I have to go.”

“You think you have to. But there has to be another way.”

“There’s not. The only other way is selling to Atkinson. And I’m not ready to give up on this place. Are you?”

  “No,” Logan replied.

“I did think about it. About walking away and starting again. But I can’t do it. Th

is place is our home, and I want to fight for it. But I should have talked this out with the two of you.”

He felt Savannah tense next to him and knew she was awake. He reached down and squeezed her butt. “Everything will be okay, baby. I’ll be home before you know it.”

He sensed she wanted to say something, but before he could press her, she reached up and looped her arms around his neck, pulling him down for a kiss. It was a hell of a distraction.

She cupped his face between her hands. “I know I haven’t always acted like it. But I love this place too. I want to fight for it.”

“Of course, we’re fighting for it,” Logan added. “Atkinson isn’t getting his fat, grubby hands on our home.”

“I’m going to miss you so much.” She leaned her head on his chest and curled in against him. He ran his hand through her hair. “You have to promise to come home.”

“Of course, I will.” He reached down and tilted her head up. “I’m coming back. And I don’t want you worrying while I’m gone.”

“Yeah, cause that’s going to happen.”

“I mean it, Savannah. You need to concentrate on yourself. I’m coming back. Everything will be fine. I promise.”

  ***

“Be safe out there, bro. Don’t take any stupid risks.”

Savannah left the door to the bathroom cracked open slightly as she unabashedly listened to Logan and Max’s conversation. She knew she shouldn’t be eavesdropping but she just wasn’t ready to go out there. She was hiding in the bathroom because she knew as soon as she left she’d have to say goodbye to Max.

Please let him come home safely.

No amount of reassurance that he could handle himself could make her feel better about Max going.

She knew he had to do this. In his eyes, it was the only way. Even though she didn’t agree with him, Max was a proud man. Feeling like a failure would eat away at him. So she stayed quiet.

“She’s been in the bathroom a long time,” Max said in a hushed voice. Savannah had to lean forward to hear him. “Think she’s okay?”

“You’re leaving for God knows where, to do who knows what, right when she needs you the most,” Logan snapped. “Of course, she’s not okay.”

She tensed at Logan’s words. She didn’t want to be the reason the two of them fought. She knew Logan was still mad at Max despite the truce they’d come to last night.

There was a moment of silence, and she thought she was going to have to go out there and calm things down when she heard someone sigh.

“Sorry, bro. I just don’t like you doing this,” Logan explained.

“I know. You think I’m happy about it? I don’t want to go. I put it off as long as I could.”

More silence. She stood there, tense.

“She hasn’t said much about me going.”

“Probably because you only just sprung it on us and now you’re going,” Logan grumbled. “How do you expect her to react?”

“Logan, I need you to be okay with this.”

“How the fuck can I be okay with this?”

Under other circumstances, it might have been funny listening to them argue in hushed whispers. There were some whispered words she couldn’t hear. She moved closer to the door and peered out. Logan still looked pissed off, but he was listening to whatever Max said. In the end, he looked away with a nod. Max turned towards the bathroom door. She made herself stand and walk to the mirror. She turned on the tap and gathered some water in her hand as he knocked on the door.

  “Savi?”

  “Yep?” she asked.

  “Can I come in?”

“Sure.” She was surprised by how steady her voice was. She splashed the cool water over her face, closing her eyes as he drew closer. He stood behind her, placing his wide hands on her hips. He just stood there, not saying a word. Finally, she realized he was waiting for her to open her eyes.

She made herself open them and she stared at him in the mirror. He was so handsome. He still took her breath away, even after nearly two years of marriage. What would she ever do without him?

She wouldn’t have to find out. He was coming back.

  “Of course, I’m coming back.”

Whoops, she hadn’t realized she’d said that out loud.

He squeezed her hips. “The two of you seem to have very little faith in my ability to take care of myself. Nothing is going to happen to me.”

God, she hoped not. She couldn’t bear to lose him.

“Trace just pulled up,” Logan said joining them in the bathroom. “You better go if you’re gonna make your flight.”

Trace was driving Max to the airport since neither of them wanted to leave her on her own. How the hell was she going to get through this next week? What if Logan needed to go into town or had to work at the far end of the ranch?

She could feel the panic welling and had to squash it.

She stared up into Max’s face and tears blurred her vision.

“Savannah? Oh, hell, Savannah. Don’t cry, love.” It always amused her how they could spank her ass until she was sobbing like a baby without any regret, yet if she showed any hint of crying any other time, they nearly tripped over themselves trying to make her feel better.

“Sorry. Sorry.” She pulled back, wiping her cheeks. “I didn’t mean to do that.”

Max brushed her tears away with his thumbs. He pulled her close to his chest and ran his hand up and down her back. “I’ll miss you, love.”

“Me too,” she whispered. The words she really wanted to say were trapped inside her, screaming to get out. But what did she say? Me too. Good one, Savannah.

“Listen to Logan, okay? And do what Molly tells you. I want to read all those self-affirmations when I get back.”

Because writing down a bunch of bullshit things about herself was what she was going to focus on while he was gone. She knew she wouldn’t be thinking of anything but Max and whether or not he was okay.

“Fuck, I wish I didn’t have to go. I don’t want to leave you. But this is the best thing I can do for our family right now.”

“I’ll look after it all, bro. Don’t worry.”

She turned her head to look at Logan, who stared down at her worriedly. But when he saw her looking, he schooled his face into a smile and winked at her. “Me and Savi are going to have a grand time here by ourselves, aren’t we, darlin’?”

She drew back slightly, leaning against the counter behind her. “You better go, Trace is waiting.”

Max cupped her face between his hands. “Everything will be okay, Savannah. The week will go quickly, and then I’ll be home, and things will be better. All right? No more money worries.”

She failed to see how one job would get them out of the hole they’d found themselves in, but she nodded and forced herself to smile.

“I love you.” He leaned in and kissed her. Gentle at first then more passionate. “Behave.”

“Now where’s the fun in that?” she quipped. It was their usual goodbye. Something he would say each morning before leaving the house. Funny, she hadn’t noticed how he hadn’t been saying it lately. “I love you too, Max.”

  So much.

He smiled gently then turned to Logan. They did that manly back pat/hand shake thing that made her roll her eyes. Why couldn’t men just hug it out? They both followed Max out as he grabbed his bag.

  “Be safe,” she told him.

  “Always, love. Always.”

  Chapter Eleven

She was moping. She couldn’t help it. Max had left yesterday, and she hadn’t heard from him since he’d landed in New York last night. How was she going to last fa week if she was already this worried about him?

Logan had done his best to keep her distracted last night. But she could sense his worry as well. She’d forced him out the door this morning. He had work to do, and he couldn’t spend the whole week here with her. She just had to sort through her shit herself.

She wandered through the house then moved to Max’s
computer. She sat in his chair and wiggled the mouse to wake up the computer. She spent the next few hours searching for news. An explosion on a bus in India. Rebel insurgents in Syria.

Holy hell. Max could be going to any of those places. She rubbed her hand over her face. All right, so this probably hadn’t been her best idea. Now she felt more worried than ever.

  “Savannah, what are you doing?”

She jumped with a screech as Logan appeared on the other side of the desk. She placed one hand on her chest as she quickly closed the pages she had open. “Logan! You gave me a heart attack! You’ve got to make more noise when you move.”

“I called out to you several times.” He moved around the desk. “What are you doing?”

“Nothing,” she said quickly. Too quickly. She winced as he reached for the mouse and brought up the search history. He sighed as he saw what she’d been looking at.

“Ah, Savannah. You’re going to tie yourself up in knots of worry. Max is going to be fine.”

“How do you know? You’re worried too, I can sense it. You didn’t want him to go.”

“Not because I’m worried about him. Well, all right, I’m a little worried. But Max can take care of himself. He was in Delta Forces for years. He’s deadly, and he’s smart. Trust me, he’ll be fine.”

He met her gaze as he spoke and she knew he meant what he said, that he wasn’t just telling her what he thought she wanted to hear.

Turning, he walked into the kitchen. She followed him. “Have you had lunch?”

“Lunch?” Was it really lunchtime? She looked up at the clock in surprise. Wow, where had those last few hours gone?

“I’m going to take that as a no,” Logan said dryly as he washed his hands then moved to the fridge. “Sandwiches okay?”

“You sit,” she told him, feeling ashamed of herself. She’d spent all morning on the computer while he’d been working. She should have at least made him something to eat. “I’ll make something.”

He just shook his head and started making ham, cheese, and pickle sandwiches. Logan style, which meant over-sized and heavy on the meat. He placed them down on the kitchen island then sat and took a healthy bite. She picked one half up then put it down, feeling decidedly unenthusiastic about eating.
