I about died from lust. Mitch still teases me about the way I jumped him when we got home that night. He’s been all for starting a family ever since. It’s been part of the reason we’ve been house hunting. Our basement apartment at the complex is convenient as hell to get to work in the morning; but is much too small.
I grimace at my next question. “Are we good budget wise with this place and all the work that needs to be done to it?”
Over his years of living on base when he was in the Air Force and rent free while living at Gramercy Square, Mitch had managed to put a decent chunk of change away. He was cool with putting all of it toward a down payment on whatever house we ended up buying; but that didn’t sit well with me. I hate I’m not able to contribute, so I’ve been adamant that he keep the bulk of his savings for himself.
He thinks I’m crazy. Whatever, he’s the one who wanted to marry me.
“Yes, baby.” Something about the way he calls me baby still makes my belly flutter.
“I got a good deal on the house; and since we’re doing the work ourselves, the budget is in the range you wanted.”
I grin and look back at our new house. “When can we move in?”
He presses a kiss to my temple and drapes his arm around my shoulders. “As soon as you want, baby.”
