“Well, you’d know more about that sort of thing than I do.”
“Which is why I can assure you that I’m in the right of it. We would be foolish to throw away what we have because your pride is standing in the way of your happiness. But,” he added, wagging a finger at her, “I wouldn’t have you marry me out of a sense of gratitude.”
He waited out the ensuring silence in torment, knowing he’d said all he could to persuade her. After what seemed like an eternity she finally spoke.
“Would a sense of the deepest, most binding love better suit your needs?” Her eyes sparkled as she offered up her lips to be kissed.
He claimed those lips in a searing kiss invested with every ounce of passion he possessed. “Admirably.”
About the Author
An overactive imagination led to frequent accusations of inattention during Wendy’s school days on the Isle of Wight in Southern England. Living in a place steeped in so much fascinating history, with castles everywhere and Queen Victoria’s island retreat on her doorstep, the distractions were compelling. She’s recently channeled that bothersome imaginative gene into writing and has several novels published both in the States and the U.K., all set in the colorful English Regency period.
Wendy is passionate about all animals, especially waifs and strays. She lives in Andorra with her husband and a rescued dog of indeterminate pedigree but spends a lot of her time exploring the world by boat.
