Recruiting Love (A Curtain Call Novelette) Page 4

by Laura Greenwood

"Your secret's safe with me," she said with a smile.

"Even from Jack?" I asked good-naturedly.

"Especially from Jack," she replied, and we both laughed.

"I was right about you Belle," I said. She cocked her head to the side, not understanding my meaning at all. "We're going to be good friends for a long time." It was a feeling that I had, and given the way my brother was head over heels for her, it also seemed likely.

  "I hope so."

"And one day, I hope we'll be sisters," I added. There was a chance that she could freak out about that, but I didn't think she would.

"I hope so too," she whispered.

Seeing Belle, and bonding with her, was great. But it wasn't even the best thing that happened that day. It turned out that Logan's transfer to a different recruiter took less time than we anticipated, and when Logan took me out to celebrate, he asked me the one question that every girl secretly wants to hear. Even if she says she doesn't. And I got to say the one answer that every man wants to hear in response.

  THE END

  Thank you for reading!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read Recruiting Love! For ARC Readers, the paperback is available here for your reviews: https://www.amazon.com/dp/1521191174 . If you’ve enjoyed this novelette, could I ask that you write a quick review on Amazon to let other readers know! Even one line is appreciated a whole lot!

I want to add a note thanking my fantastic writing accountability partners, Laura Wells and Jason Johns, who not only helped with the things like names, but also kept me sane through writing! Hopefully I returned the favour!

Also, thank you to my family for taking me to the beautiful port-seaside town of Honfleur, while I was a child. That’s where the French parts of this story was set, and while the story and characters themselves are complete fiction, there are parts influenced by my own experiences there. This includes sitting on the harbour wall and eating ice cream, as well as making moules marinière with my Grandy. It became tradition for us to do that any time we went to France (I hope you enjoyed that reference Grandy!)

If you want to read more from the Curtain Call series, the full length novel, What Lies Beneath the Mask, and the companion novella, You Know I Do, are both available now. What Lies Beneath the Mask is Jack (Jill’s twin) and Belle’s story, while You Know I Do follows Hayley and David.

And finally, if you’re wondering about Jack and Jill’s names, it was done on purpose. The first time I introduced Jill, it was just a funny idea I had, and at the time, I had no intention of writing Jill’s story. Now, every time I remember that I called them Jack and Jill, I find myself smiling!
