Little Hood and Her Wolf (The Big Bad Wolf Trilogy Book 2) Page 38

by Janie Marie

“I was so busy being pissed with the Knights that I didn’t notice she was overdosing right under my nose. Of course this fucking place is cruel, and the one person I can’t see is her.”

She had no idea what he meant, but he was talking again before she could ask.

“I was glued to her side after she survived, but she was slipping away and letting me go. I was lost when I asked Luc to help. He offered me a deal, and I took it. I knew he’d go after Grimm, so I went to Logan first.

“He’d been gone, fucking around and not bothering to keep up with news at home. I broke him when I told him what happened to her while he was drowning in pussy. He didn’t even know about the baby dying.

“But I forced him to face everything. I showed him what they were still doing to her—told him how I found her standing in a puddle of her own pee because one of those assholes smiled at her. Then I showed him the picture I’d found hidden in her stuff.

“It was his mom’s hoodie covered in Janie’s blood and those fuckers’ cum. I made Logan stare at it until he puked his guts out.”

  Kylie covered her mouth.

“When Logan’s dumb ass came to see her, he couldn’t stand that I was holding her and kissing her. So after leaving, getting drunk and high and fucking some girls, he came back to my place and called her a whore. He had the balls to ask her if was she really raped, or had she made it up like she did before. I hadn’t caught on that he was implying a separate instance—Trevor. I wish I had.

“My brothers dragged him out. When I got downstairs, he was still going off. He said she probably let me and my brothers take turns fucking her, because Janie always liked dick however she could get it. I knocked his ass out.”

He sent her a dark look. “I can kill Logan easily, but I didn’t. For her.”

Kylie’s blood drained from her face. The severe look on his face was so frightening that she accepted Ryder could really kill Logan. Even if Logan was a professional fighter, Ryder was something else altogether.

He nodded like he knew what was going through her head. “The next morning, he cried and begged to see her. I let him because she needed him. I’ve been trying to let him make up for it all, and I thought I was when we went to kill those bastards. This place is Hell, though, and I’m no match for fate here.

“And Logan—he’s about to walk away from her for good. It’ll kill them both. They’d breathe, but you know what I mean. We’re both two steps away from watching part of them die.”

He smiled sadly. “So now you know. That’s how my baby became a whore who broke Logan Grimm’s heart, and how I became the bastard who knocked her up and stole her from him.”

Kylie felt numb. She’d heard every word, every single one, but there was only one thing she could focus on. And she only realized she’d voiced it after the words passed her lips. “He told me they never had sex.”

Ryder laughed, a menacing, violent sound. “I tell you all of that, all our fucking sorrow and horror, and you’re focused on the fact they lost their virginity to each other?”

Her eyes watered and her heart stopped. “He lost his virginity with her?”

He stared at her like she was a moron.

She dropped her gaze to her lap. Logan had said he’d never had sex with Janie, but he’d not just had sex with her. He’d gotten her pregnant. Janie really did have all of Logan.

“Wow.” Ryder’s cruel voice made her flinch. “I knew you hated her, but I thought you coming here with him meant you had changed, at least a little bit. Maybe you and Logan are meant for each other after all. You’re both heartless, selfish fucks.”

Kylie startled and squeezed her eyes shut. “You wouldn’t understand.”

“Oh, I understand.” His mocking tone made her stomach ache. “You know how horrible Logan is now—how he’s the worst boyfriend, to you and to Janie. You know how wrong you were about her. And you know you’re wrong for thinking all the shit you did about us. But you’re so messed up in the head, you can’t be decent for one fucking moment without letting your jealousy consume you.

“This whole story, and you’re only concerned with the fact they had sex. Grow the fuck up.” His words were like a whip lashing bloody wounds across her skin, and he didn’t let up, even now after breaking her heart, he continued to unleash on her. “Their relationship had nothing to do with you, or with me. I’m thankful she lost her virginity to a guy she loved.”

“They shouldn’t have been doing that so young,” she spat, not able to stay quiet with the way he was talking down to her. “She’s younger than him.”

“And you’re not?” He scoffed. “You’re younger than her, dumbass. He was a kid then, too. He’s a grown ass man now, fucking a dumb kid who spread her legs for him the first chance she got.”

Her whole face burned as her rage spilled over. “Shut up.”

“Why?” He leveled her with a dangerous stare. “You mad she was younger when she got him or some weird shit?”

“It’s not the same,” was all she could say.

“It is,” he deadpanned. “I know you’ve been through shit. I know you’ve been alone, but you’re a selfish, heartless bitch.” He bent down, his green eyes sparking with malice. “But that’s who you’ve always been. Isn’t that right, Kylie Malfille Hood?”

Kylie jerked back, her eyes wide with fear.

  He knows.

  He smiled cruelly. “Gotcha.”

Luc Godson lifted his gaze from his phone to meet the dark eyes of Lance Grimm. “Well?”

The muscle in Lance’s jaw ticked, and Luc already knew why.

“Lykos called him last night,” Lance said. “Ryder had him investigating all week. He told Logan what he found.”

“Yet your youngest had the nerve to bring her to the hospital?” Luc chuckled, fixing his sleeve as he glanced at the girl who had tried to kill herself. The girl was heavily sedated, but he’d gotten what he needed from her.

“Ryder came to see this one.” Lance glanced at Maura Payne, his normally cold expression weakening at the sight of the poor girl. “He knows everything.”

“Of course he does.” Luc exited the room, passing Than as he gave the cop who guarded Maura additional instructions. “Now I suggest you return to your hunt, Mr. Grimm. There are always two.”

Damon pushed off from the wall as Lance Grimm hurried in the opposite direction. “Clever wolf,” he commented.

“Trevor?” Luc asked. Damon smiled and shook his head. “Oh, yes. I suppose you’re right. Kylie Hood has turned out to be a most cunning little wolf.”

  “Indeed,” Damon said.
