Disobedience Page 25

by Kaitlyn Andersen

  I’m so sorry, kid.

Every time she closed her eyes, she saw the blood seeping from AJ’s chest, saw the wide, dazed look of horror in his black eyes. She shook the image from her mind and quickened her steps.

She had her own endgame now.

Finn let a wave of numbness take over as she made her way through the ship to the training room.

She was coming for the Reliance . . . all of them.

This book series has been a labor of love over the last decade. It started as the pipe dream of a little girl with a love of sci-fi and a desire to tell her own kind of story.

Seeing my writing in print has been my biggest dream come true, but it wouldn’t have been possible without the help of some amazing people.

Firstly, I want to thank my husband, Jack, for your unending support. You came to me at a time when I needed you the most and helped to reinvigorate my desire and love for telling this story. Thank you for putting up with my crippling self-doubt and acting as my biggest cheerleader when I needed it most.

To Aaron, the supermodel, Kaija, the giver, Kaye and Karil, my fairy godmothers, and my parents; thank you for sticking with the book as it grew and changed. Your feedback and support have been integral in the evolution of this story.

Additionally, none of this would be possible without my editor and publisher at Endpapers Press. Andy, you believed in a debut author and have helped make a little girl’s greatest wish a reality.

And lastly, to my daughter, River; you inspire me to be better and do better . . . every day. May you always have the courage to follow your dreams and the strength to see them through to the end.
