Charmed Destiny (The Charming Series Book 2) Page 20

by Dee King

Now my father is standing. Great. This was

great. We were all going to fight with each other. Zeus wouldn't have to worry about killing us, we would do it to ourselves.

“Son, this just wasn't what was best for you or Colin. You two are the ones that will take your places where you have always belonged. They never had that future. Their fate was always this.” My dad gestures to us, but I

don't think it matters. Apollo comes to Selene and me, ignoring the rest of them.

“It's always been your fate. Destiny chose this path for you, long before your fathers could even think of such a plan. You must come to terms with it, learn from it, and be the ones you were destined to be.”

What the hell kind of explanation was that? Apollo might be the god of light and prophecy, but this sounded ludicrous even for him.

“Apollo, you of all the gods, would tell us if this is true? How are we supposed to do this? We're just teenagers, ya know?” I ask him in a joking manner, but I was very serious.

“My dear Sebastian, you have always been special. You know in your heart that what I say is true. You never felt like your father did, or how Cato yearns for the throne of the Underworld do you? And, Selene, you never dreamed did you? You never looked more into your future besides

what was right in front of you. That's because you will always be the one to help others in the now, not the future. Sebastian see's the good in others; you will see the truth in them. It's who you are, together.” I drop my head, Apollo was right.

I never wanted to be the God of the Underworld. I never

imagined it. I tilt my head, catching Selene's eye. Her face dropped. Apollo had been right about her. It was true.

Only now, what did we do with our newfound glory? We weren't going to be able to guide others. I had a hard enough time guiding myself. This was going to take time to deal with; I just didn't think we had that option.

Selene laid her head down on my chest, still gripping my shirt tightly. I laid my head on top of hers. I wanted to take this from her. Any other migades wouldn’t have this life. They wouldn't be able to. This didn't make me feel any better. Why her? Why me? Apollo lays his hands on us, startling Selene till she felt his healing powers releasing her from my hands. He was trying to heal us; we just didn't know what we needed healing from exactly.

“Now, we need a plan.” My father rubs his hands together, then walks to the kitchen by himself.

He returns with books; many books I had never found the entire time I lived here. He drops the books on the table, making dust fly out. Aries takes one of the books, dusting it off, opening the pages slowly. My father takes the one under that, then hands Poseidon and Apollo one. This might be a great time to sit down. I was growing more tired as we stood. I usher Selene back into her chair, and I fall into mine.

“Sebastian?” Selene's eyes catch mine. I could hear her, but I was tired.

I just wanted to take a nap where I was. Just for a few minutes. I could feel my head hitting the table, my body slumped over, but I couldn't do anything about it. Sleep, tired, needed sleep, is what my mind kept saying.

I could hear their voices around me, but I couldn't lift my head. I wanted to wake up. I wanted to know what we were supposed to do next. It was like I had been drugged. That's when I heard his voice. Zeus.

Sebastian, Son of Hades. The time has come for you to face your fears. Me. There will be a place for us to meet, in secret. We want the same things, come now, I shall show you.

  No.

  Yes, just stand, walk outside.

  No.

  Last chance.

My eyes flash open. I raise my head fast, making myself dizzy for a moment. He was here. He wanted to kill me. The urge to stand and walk outside was hard to fight.

“He's here. He's pulling me towards him.” I stood to my feet.

What was I doing? I didn't want to see him, and I most definitely didn't want to die today.

I couldn't seem to fight this. Feeling Zack and Harper's hands on my back, they were coming with me. They moved quick, catching Cato's reflection in the corner of my eye, they were all coming outside with me. I was

guiding them to our deaths. I tried to warn them to not follow me, stay with Selene, guard her, but the words weren't coming out of my mouth. It was like talking to the air, nobody could hear me. On the beach there he

stood. Zeus. He wasn't alone either. He had come prepared. Hera, Hercules, and another god I didn't recognize was standing with him. I moved slowly.

“Thank you for meeting me, I will only take a couple of minutes of your time.”

“You will not take any minutes of our time. Go home, Zeus. This is going to happen whether you like or not. Go home. It's over.” Poseidon had moved quickly to stand in front of me.

“Oh, that's not true. We have just begun.” His sinister laugh gave me the creeps.

Making the hairs on the back of my neck stand. Apollo lays his hand on my shoulder, and I felt like myself again. Better than before. He was healing me from whatever Zeus had done to me from afar. The waves began crashing onto the shore telling us all that Poseidon was getting

  angry.

“You need to leave, today isn't the day.” Apollo tells Zeus.

That shocked me. He knew when the day was coming, but he wasn't telling anyone. Of course, he did. He must know how the prophecy would end for all of us. Had he only told Selene and I what we wanted to hear to get us to do this, or was he telling the truth? Would we take over the throne, so to speak?

Marriage was my biggest worry for the past week. Now I have to worry about fighting him? Let's just get this done. He wants to play games. I am tired of playing these games with all of them. I didn't want to rule over everyone, but if he wanted a war among the gods, then he would get it.

I wasn't going to stand by any longer.

“How I see it, you feel threatened. You believe that Selene and I can and will conquer over you. You’re a pitiful excuse of a God. You claim to be this high and powerful ruler, but the truth is you are a tyrant. You want

everyone to bow down to you, pray to you. When truth is, nobody cares anymore. You fight yourself every day wondering if today is going to be that day. Were you going to be overthrown? You came to me; I didn't ask

for this. But, since you’re here we might as well let the games begin.” I had taken the initiative by talking in a calm, low voice, all the while strolling right up to him.

He had just done something to me, making me unaware of my surroundings, then summoned me to him again. This was enough. He was beginning to show signs of weakness as I approached him. His forehead was building tiny sweat beads and his hands were fidgeting. What I had

said was bothering him. He knew, now, that what I said was true. He had brought this upon himself, and he wasn't sure what his fate was.

“You could possibly be right, but what I want right now is my son.”

“Don't know where he is... does anyone else?” I turn facing all of them. No one spoke up.

“Iris, please. Your brother is in danger. He needs me.” Zeus was playing his daughter, nothing was beneath him. He would do whatever he needed to do to get what he wanted.

“Sorry, Daddy. No can do.” Iris walks slowly towards us, her feet kicking the sand underneath her.

“Iris, he is your brother. Don't you care about him?”

“Um... hmm... I don't know. Do you?” She was testing him.

“That's enough out of you. Tell me where my son is!” Hera yells at Iris.

This I could understand. She loved Alex. She did want to find him, not for personal gain.

“Listen, Bitch. I don't answer to you, and I never answered to you.” She is talking to Hera, but points to Zeus.

Before I can stop Hera, she slaps Iris across the face. It sounded like a bat cracking as it hit a ball.

Iris didn't flinch. She just smiled. She had the same smile as her father at times. It was a smile that made you immediately nerv
ous.

“Well, now I won't be telling you anything. Thanks for the reminder of why I am here with them.” She turns slowly, then swings back her arm, hitting Hera smack in the mouth.

Hera stumbles back, grabbing her jaw. I didn't know what to do next, but I knew my turn was coming. I punch Zeus in the face, catching him off guard. I heard a gasp come from behind me, tilting my head just a tad, I saw Selene throw her hands in the air. The waves were crashing onto the shore, making its way to us. She walks in between all of us, right into the water. The water spread apart as the end of her gown now floated. Zeus was about to hit me back when the waters began rising above her. Her

arms stretched out to each side, seeing sand underneath her. She takes a turn facing all of us. Her eyes were fixated on Zeus. She looked as if she was going to throw the whole ocean on him. I knew her. I knew what was

about to happen next. I run to her, sand flying under my feet. She could kill everyone by drowning them if she wasn't careful. She could also show her powers among mortals. This could be the beginning of what starts the

war. I wrap my arms around her, holding her from behind. My arms are tight around her waist.

Hold on to me till we go under. I won't let anything happen to you.

Keep your arms around me as tight as you can, then swim with me. It’s my turn to protect you this time.

She never looks up at me, I just see her smile as she promised she would protect me. Her body was strong just like the goddess she was. Her hands drop to the side and the ocean waves crash all along us. She had built a

tidal wave in a matter of seconds. We were swimming in the water together. I kept trying to find a way out for the both of us. Then a sudden burst of a bright light shown under the water. I felt her hands on my shoulder, pulling me out of the waves. There she stood, trident in hand,

watching everyone that had just been in front of us, swimming for their lives. Poseidon was pulling people out from the massive amount of water that had flooded them. He smiled at us. We now stood high above them,

on the water. We were walking on water. I held her hand as we walked to the beach. We stood together, as one. They would live, they were gods, but they would remember we just won the first round. Selene had won.

She was amazing. There wasn't going to be a day where I didn't remind her of that.

  Chapter Twenty-Seven

Getting to know you, getting to know all about you

At this point everyone looked like drowned rats. The wave had reached high above their heads without realizing what was about to happen to them. They were all mad, but the best part was Zeus, Hera, Hercules, and

whoever the other god was, left. A part of me wanted to high five or clap from what Selene had just done. This was too early in the game for that. This was nothing compared to what was going to go down between all of

us. What a hell of a way to start though. The sun was rising above the ocean, telling us it was time to start a new day. A new day with me as a husband.

“That went well. You bought us some time. He won't be back for a while. Good job, Selene.” My father is soaking wet, brushing off the sand from his pants.

Watching the water retreat back to where it belonged was a sight I had never seen. Water had left indentions on the sand making the idea of waves in it. This was what a God should look for. The beauty that surrounds them, not what others can do for them. I look up from the sandy

beach. It was only Selene and I standing out there now.

“You feel it don't you?” We had earned our wings in a way.

We felt the way that a true god and goddess felt. Love and light inside of our hearts. Pumping fast. I nod yes to her, taking her by the hand as we walked back inside the house. We were now held to the rights of the throne. We were one, we were the next in line to be the ones to oversee the worlds. Yet, here we were, two kids basically, and I felt a thousand years old. Before we walked into where everyone had now gathered in the living room standing in front of the fire that was blazing, I pushed Selene's messy hair out of her eyes.

“You are amazing.” I couldn't help myself. I kissed her perfect mouth, wrapping my arms around her.

She kissed me back, taking my breath away. I could feel her heart racing as my hands caressed her back. She pulled me tighter to her. She was an angel in my arms. Her skin felt like velvet against my face, as she turns

her head kissing me deeper. This was a passion I hadn't felt from her before, and I enjoyed every minute of it. I knew I had to stop before we went to a place I didn't know if she was prepared for. Pulling back from

Selene made me desire her even more. Her skin, her face, her touch, took me to places I didn't know existed. She let out a deep breath. She stepped back from me, letting her hands guide themselves over my face.

“You're the amazing one.” She was gazing into my eyes; a deep, sweet Selene was standing in front of me.

Hair a mess, dress ruined, without a care in the world. We stood searching over each other's faces, finding the beauty in one another. I didn't just love her, I needed her. Every bone in my body ached for her. Running my fingers through her long blonde messy hair, getting them tangled in the curls. I couldn't hold back any longer.

“Um... we're gonna leave. We will be back in a couple of hours. You two get some sleep, or something like that.” I hear Iris's voice say, but neither of us acknowledges her.

We were in our own world. A place no one could touch us. A place where love dwelled. Nobody could break our bond. I picked her up in my arms, carrying her over the threshold. This is what a mortal husband was supposed to do. I was going to take every advantage of this time I had

alone with my wife. She wrapped her arms around my neck, kissing me gently. I climb the stairs with her in my arms. I was carrying a true goddess in my arms. I open the door to my room with my foot, laying her softly on the bed. She was all mine, forever. For the precious time we had, I was going to make sure that she knew how much I loved her.

Our bodies would become one tonight. There was such a passion between us, that neither of us could fight it anymore.

  Chapter Twenty-Eight

I've got this thing for you

We laid for what seemed to be hours in bed, not caring about our new lives, new roles we were to play in this game we now called life. Just being there with one another, being one with each other’s bodies.

I didn't want this to ever end. My time with her seemed like it always went by too quickly. She was laying here in my arms sound asleep. Knowing that I should be sleeping too, I lower my head on top of hers.

“I've kind of got this thing for you...” I whisper as she snuggled up closer to me, taking my breath away one last time before I slept the best I ever had.

“Sorry about waking you, but we have a situation.” Colin pushes the door open speaking loud enough to wake a bear.

He rushed out of the room. Selene yawned throwing her hands above her head. Even when she woke up looking a mess, she was gorgeous. She rolled over slowly, as I followed her. She insisted that she needed a shower, which was one thing we both agreed on. Showering was a need, we both smelt like the ocean had puked us up. It kind of did, though. Selene walked down the hall and I just stood there watching her. Graceful was the one thing she was. A walk that could make any god or mortal stop in their tracks. Sliding on my jeans after my shower, I was standing with no shirt on when she walked in. Her throat gulped. That was never going to get old. She was taken aback by me as much as I was by her.

We dressed and walked down the stairs hand in hand to find everyone back at the table. The candles were lit, the lights were low, and I could see the sun going down under the ocean waves. We had slept for the full day.

Noticing the quiet in the room, something wasn't right. Everyone was in suits, Iris in a dress. Selene and I were wearing jeans and t-shirts, nothing like the rest of them. Poseidon motions for us to take a seat. Aries comes

to stand behind us. What was going on? My f
ather stood with Cato by his side.

“You will need to be a witness.” He tells me.

  “A witness to what?”

“My marriage to Medusa.” This was why Aries was standing behind me.

They were afraid I was going to go after my father.

“Why me? Cato's here.” It's not that I didn't want my father to be happy, but I couldn't do this.

My mother had been a prisoner to him for me, and now he was marrying her. Medusa. The mother of him. The brother I never knew I had.

“Cato will be there to announce his seat by my side.” My father's face didn't move a muscle. Not a grin, not a frown, he was serious.

“Have one of them do it.” I pointed to Apollo and Aries.

“If Zeus won't be there, it has to be you.”

“These are his rules! If we are now the ones to rule, then why are you still doing it?” My hands were starting to sweat as I rubbed them on my jeans.
