DEATH OF THE UNIVERSE: BOOK TWO OF THE REALM OF ZERROS SAGA Page 6

“Be seated everyone, the meeting will commence immediately,” Alkazar said.

“You are hereby called today as there has been a breach in protocol, and a fellow Zerrosian has mated with a human from the Xerrolux, and from this most sinister of actions, a child has been born and Venetia has ordered that the Xerrolux and everything within it be destroyed in order to keep sacred our race and also to keep law and order within the Xerrolux and also within the majestic Realm of Creation,” Alkazar continued saying.

“This is madness Alkazar, destroying the Xerrolux and everything within it because of the mistake of one person, there are other options to contain the breach Alkazar, you know this,” said one of the leaders named Creciant.

“Alkazar, to destroy a great life form is unheard of. The Xerrolux has been alive for eons, it has evolved majestically, and it supports many forms of life within it,” said another leader named Issatho.

“Our ruler has already decided on this matter, and only she can reverse her decision,” Alkazar said.

“But Alkazar, this is a law that she created, this was not the way of the old clans, if they find out that we are destroying the Xerrolux they will oppose the decision, and perhaps they may even start a war Alkazar,” Creciant said.

“There will be no uprising of the old clans, as the only one with the ability to unite them all was Galiac, and he will not be doing that,” Alkazar stated.

“How are you so sure of that?” one of the leaders asked.

“Because Galiac was the Zerrosian who mated with the human, and he is now dead,” Alkazar said.

The leaders were in shock upon hearing of Galiac’s death. As Galiac, although from the clans of old, was known to many of the leaders of the royal guards and also to many Zerrosians in general as a wise and learned individual. He always put Zerros ahead of himself, and many of the leaders and even Alkazar wondered why Galiac would do such a thing such as mating with a human.

“I have known Galiac since I was created, and from the moment I exited the fountain of life he helped me understand how to live an immortal life on Zerros. This act of his is not like him at all.” Creciant said. “But I also understand that Venetia is the ruler of Zerros, and her word is final, and I will do as she commands us to do,” Creciant continued saying.

Alkazar then looked around the room, and it was clear that many of the leaders were not in agreement with Venetia’s ruling. But although they did not agree with it, Alkazar knew that they all, even himself, swore an oath to follow the commands of the ruler of Zerros even if it was a command that they did not necessarily agree with or believe in.

“You know what to do my fellow leaders, gather your troops and your ships and begin to make preparations for the destruction of the Xerrolux, and know that by doing this you are fulfilling your sworn oath and you are doing no wrong,” Alkazar said.

“And what of the inhabitants of the planet earth as well as the other life forms within the Xerrolux?” one of the leaders asked.

“The command from our ruler is to destroy the Xerrolux as well as everything within it, this includes all galaxies, planets, suns, and all forms of life including that of the humans,” Alkazar said, and with that the leaders left to begin preparations for the destruction of the Xerrolux and everything within it.

  CHAPTER TEN

As Ava and Max’s airmobile along with the rest of the approximately two hundred humans, superhumans and knights neared Alaska, they were happy that their trek to the superhuman stronghold was almost complete and they would soon be in the relative safety of Freedom City. As they approached, a voice came over the open airwaves, “Unidentified airmobiles that are approaching from the south, please identify yourselves, or we will open fire.”

The caravan of airmobiles then stopped, and Steve went to the radio of his airmobile and replied back, “My name is Steve, and we mean no harm, we are a group of humans, superhumans and rogue knights who have come here to help you in your fight against the betasapiens.”

“Please stand by,” said the voice over the radio and then after a few minutes he came back on the airwaves and said, “Hello Steve, I have verified your information, please proceed towards Freedom City,” and with that the caravan of humans, superhumans and rogue knights entered Freedom City, Alaska.

As they reached the area where they were directed to; they began to exit their airmobiles and they were met by a group of superhumans.

“Hello everyone, my name is Gannon, and I am an elder as well as the leader of the superhumans in Freedom City, welcome to the last stronghold, take your belongings and follow this group, they will lead you to our main facility,” Gannon told the newly arrived batch of humans, superhumans and rogue knights.

As Gannon pointed to the group that would lead them to the main facility, he turned around and began to walk away, and at the same time Ava just finished helping Max out of their airmobile and as they exited it, Gannon felt a supernatural force unlike anything he had ever felt before.

As he turned around, he couldn’t tell where the force was coming from and he continued walking back to the main facility with the rest of the group. As they walked, Gannon was still thinking about the force he felt only a few minutes ago, wondering where it came from, and more importantly; who or what did this unknown force belong to?

Meanwhile, Ava and Max walked behind the group as they made their way to the main facility.

“How are you feeling Max?” Ava asked him.

“As long as I am by your side I’ll be fine Ava, having you with me gives me hope and makes me feel that anything is possible,” Max replied.

“You do the same for me Max, but I miss Jonah and my dad so much, I wish that they were here with me as well,” Ava said to Max.

As they continued walking, they finally reached the main facility and they were taken to the cafeteria area where many of them ate and drank to get their energy back as the battle against the betasapiens drew closer and closer with every minute that passed, and Ava and Max sat quietly at a table in the corner of the cafeteria looking at everyone.

Then suddenly a sharp pain went through Ava’s body and for a brief moment she was unable to do anything, and then suddenly she fell to the floor as the pain rushed from the rest of her body directly to her head. She then tried to scream but was unable to, and Max dashed towards her, “Ava what’s wrong? Are you alright?” he asked, but Ava was unable to understand anything he was saying and it was as if it was all a blur. As others in the room saw what was occurring, they rushed towards her to see what was happening.

“Is she okay? What happened to her?” one of the superhumans asked Max.

“I don’t know, she was sitting with me and then she just fell to the floor,” Max replied.

A few of the superhumans brought a stretcher for Ava and put her onto it and took her to the medical wing of the facility and Max was following them not too far behind. As they entered one of the rooms, they put Ava on a bed and began taking her vital signs but everything appeared to be normal.

They then did a scan of her body, and again everything appeared normal, then finally they did a scan of her brain and as they looked at the results, they were all baffled as they had never seen anything like this before. As they looked at the scan of her brain on the screen, all they could see was bright yellow and gold, and it was thousands of times brighter than anything any of them had ever seen before.

“Has this ever happened to her before?” one of the superhumans asked Max.

“No, not that I can remember,” Max replied.

The superhuman doctor, baffled by what he was seeing was unsure of what to do and then due to the nature of the situation grabbed a few medications from the cabinet and was about to give them to Ava in hopes of helping to ease the abnormal brain activity he was seeing. Then, just as he was about to do so, Ava returned to a conscious state and sat up on the bed unaware that anything had happened to her.

“Hi Max, what are we doing here? Are you okay?” she asked hi
m thinking that their visit to the medical room was for him.

“No Ava, you just fell and we brought you here but everything seems to be okay now,” Max said to her, and with that, they both left the room and the doctor walked along with them.

As they walked back to the cafeteria, they met Gannon in the hallway.

“Ava I heard what happened, are you okay?” he asked.

“Yes I’m fine, thank you for asking,” she replied.

“Okay that’s good, maybe you should go and get some rest,” Gannon said to her and then led her and Max to the area of the facility where the beds were located.

As they arrived they each found beds beside each other and then lay down, “What happened to you really scared me Ava, I thought I was going to lose you,” Max said.

“I’ll always be here for you Max,” she replied.

“And I’ll always be here for you as well Ava,” he said to her.

“Thank you Max, we’ve both lost everyone that matters to us, we are all that we have now,” Ava said to Max.

“Your dad could still be alive Ava,” Max said.

“I don’t know Max, look at the damage that the betasapiens and knights are capable of, unless he’s in Freedom City which I don’t think he is, I doubt he would survive an attack by them,” she somberly said to Max.

Then suddenly out of nowhere, Max blurted out, “I have feelings for you Ava and I’m falling in love with you,” he said to her.

The words caught Ava by surprise and she was unsure of how to react in this most awkward of situations, “Uhm, are you sure? Do you even know what you’re saying to me?” Ava asked.

“Of course I do Ava, from the moment I saw you I was hooked,” Max replied.

“We’re in the middle of a war Max, we’ve lost everyone that meant anything to us, this isn’t the time for this,” Ava said to Max.

“That’s why I want to let you know how I feel Ava, you have to know how much I care for you and love you. When we were in the middle of the ocean, and I was holding onto you with everything in me, I looked at your face over and over again and it kept me going. When I was injured on the raft and I was ready to give up and fall into the Pacific Ocean, it was you that kept me going. From the outside it seems that I kept you alive Ava, but in reality, it was you who kept me alive, and for that, I am ever grateful to you. And you’re right Ava, we are in the middle of a war and I could die tomorrow which is the reason I want to let you know how I feel. If this were under normal circumstances I wouldn’t do it this way Ava. I would ask you to go out with me Ava, I would ask you to hang out, and I would do the things normal teenagers do. But normal doesn’t exist anymore Ava, and this is the new reality that we live in, and no matter what happens to me in the future, I want you to know that I love you today until the day I die,” Max passionately said to Ava.

After hearing Max’s words Ava was in tears, and she went up to him and hugged him and kissed him on his cheek, “If I’m meant to be with anybody on earth it would be with you Max,” she said to him.

Hearing those words gave Max hope that his love for Ava would not go unreturned, “I know that Ava, and I also know that we were meant to be together,” he said to her.

As their conversation continued, a voice came over the PA system, “Attention – we have news that the betasapiens have announced that an attack on Freedom City will commence in less than two days, everyone please report to the center of Freedom City for further instructions.”

As the announcement ended, large swaths of superhumans, humans and rogue knights made their way to the center of Freedom City and amongst them were Max and Ava. As everyone walked together to hear what preparations had to be made to defend themselves from the onslaught that was coming their way, the dark reality of the situation became clear as the betasapiens and knights were now ready to attack the superhumans at their stronghold in Alaska.

As everyone walked together towards the center of Freedom City, they looked at each other knowing that in less than seventy–two hours many of them will most likely be dead at the hands of the knights and betasapiens. But nonetheless, they all bravely and courageously marched forward, ready to fight beside each other hand in hand as the final battle for planet earth was about to begin.

  CHAPTER ELEVEN

As the large superhuman aircraft made its way to Alaska, Sarah and John looked out of the window and could see Freedom City in the not too far distance.

“We’re almost there Sarah, I just wish that Dean was with us,” John said.

“You can’t change someone’s path in life John, Dean chose to go to Las Vegas, and he did so for the most noble of reasons. We don’t know where Ava and Jonah are and I understand the reasons as to why he chose not to come with us. If I were in his place I would have done the same,” Sarah said to John.

“You’re right Sarah, it was just wishful thinking on my part,” John said.

As the aircraft prepared for its descent to Freedom City; Stryker sat not too far away from Sarah and John and wondered about his old friend Amare. He wondered if he was safe and if he made it to Freedom City in a bid to escape the attack of the betasapiens.

Sarah then walked up to him as John followed her, “Are you okay Stryker? What’s on your mind?” she asked him.

“Nothing Sarah, just doing some thinking and trying to clear my mind you know,” Stryker responded.

“Okay, if you say so Stryker, I just want to make sure that you are okay,” Sarah said.

“Thank you Sarah, I appreciate that, but I feel like I’ve betrayed my friends Sarah, I should have stayed with them and helped them find their way to safety,” Stryker replied.

Then, as the aircraft started descending Sarah began walking towards the door as she was eager to exit the aircraft and speak to Gannon about Jonah, who she was certain was the savior of the human race.

She then looked back at Stryker and said, “We’ve all lost people that we care for Stryker, I’m sure many people at my church didn’t make it, but I know in my heart that I did the right thing by leaving Denver. Never second guess your destiny Stryker. You made a choice to do what is right, and I want you to always know that I appreciate what you did for me,” Sarah said.

“You have a way with words Sarah,” Stryker said to her.

“I just say what my heart feels Stryker, and right now my heart says that your decision to save me could end up saving the human race,” Sarah said.

“And what does your heart feel for me Sarah?” Stryker asked her.

“My heart says that you’re a good man Stryker and my heart says that if a war wasn’t on the horizon and that I didn’t have to tell the leaders of the superhumans that the savior of the human race was in our midst, that we could be together,” Sarah replied.

“Who do you think the savior of the human race is Sarah?” Stryker asked.

“I think it’s Dean’s son, his name is Jonah,” Sarah replied.

“He and his sister Ava were at the church when I first met them, and when I saw him for the first time I knew there was something about him that was beyond anything this earth had ever seen. I’ve had dreams about the savior my entire life, and once I felt his energy, I had to tell the leaders of the superhumans about him as he will need our help to defeat the betasapiens. That’s where I was headed when I was captured by your crew. I’m not sure why I had to go through these twists and turns to get here but I’m here now, and I’ll do whatever I can to help him defeat the betasapiens,” Sarah said as Stryker looked at her in utter amazement, and John stood beside her in bewilderment of what Sarah just confessed.

As they both tried to comprehend the magnitude of Sarah’s belief, they were elated that they were part of this group of people who were trying to save the human race from the attack of the betasapiens.

“Why didn’t you just send the message over the open airwaves Sarah? The leaders of the superhumans might have heard it,” Stryker said.

“I couldn’t risk it Stryker, if the betasapiens ov
erheard it they would have done anything to prevent it, and I didn’t want to unnecessarily put anyone’s lives in danger, especially the life of someone who is supposed to save us all. I thought that by keeping this a secret for as long as possible, it would give us a better chance at surprising the betasapiens.” Sarah said as the massive aircraft finally landed in Freedom City and the doors began to open.

“And to be honest, although I have the utmost faith in what I believe in, there is always a possibility that I could be wrong. Those are the reasons I chose to come to Freedom City to speak to them about it rather than sending the message over the open frequencies. And now looking back at the attacks from the betasapiens on the Americas and their impending attack upon Freedom City, it seems that fate dealt us a favor by making us all come to Freedom City and join the fight to help our fellow humans, superhumans and rogue knights,” Sarah continued saying.

Then, as soon as the door opened; Sarah, Stryker, and John quickly ran out of the vessel and Sarah headed out to find Gannon, who was not only an elder as well as the leader of the superhumans in Freedom City, but was also good friends with Sarah. Then, as she headed to the main facility, she saw the panic and confusion as everyone was getting ready for the battle that lay ahead of them.

“Where’s Gannon?” she asked one of the knights that was in the street.

“He’s in the center of Freedom City, and he just announced that the betasapiens are planning to attack us and we are making preparations to do battle with them,” the knight replied.

Sarah then ran as fast as she could to the center of Freedom City and Stryker and John followed her, and as she arrived at the center she saw Gannon and ran towards him.

“Sarah, I can’t believe you made it here, it’s good to see old friends,” he said as he hugged her.

“I have news Gannon, I’ve seen the savior, I know it’s him, I felt his power Gannon and I know that he exists,” Sarah said.
