Yes, You Page 19

by Carla Ryan

“Promise,” she says with a laugh, pulling you towards her.

Before your lips meet, you ask, "Are you sure you want this? All of this?"

Staring at you with those ravishing gray eyes that captured you six years ago, she nods.

"Me though? Really?" you ask, still unable to believe your luck.

Her hands cup your face, and she brings your ear to her lips. "Yes, you," she whispers. Nipping your earlobe, she brings your eyes back to hers, smiling as she adds, "Now how about we make up for lost time?"

  BY CARLA RYAN

Like the logo for my fictional dream business? :-) If I were to start a company, it would be absolutely be Spare. Recycling properly is so convoluted it’s absurd! But I digress.

Thank you so much for reading Yes, You. There’s no POV more maligned in the literary world than second person, but there’s something about it that just makes sense for romance. We all want to be the main character anyway, and having the story in second person grips the reader instantly, immersing us in a world like nothing else. However, I get that it can be jarring because it’s so unexpected, so this might be a one-time experiment. What do YOU think? Did it knock your socks off and you can’t wait for the next one? Or will you string me up by my socks if I do it again? Feel free to let me know in your review.

To fans of my Rainbow Heights series, I hope you’ll forgive this detour. As comforting and fun as it is to visit old friends in our favorite quirky mountain town, the second person POV would have been too abrupt a change for that series. Yes, You is also twice as long as the Rainbow Heights books, and I didn’t want to mess with those readers who like the books partly because of their read-it-in-an-afternoon length. But don’t worry, I have tons of ideas for the folks atop Mount Crystal, and we’ll be returning there soon!

As always, a great big bear hug and a box of Justin’s Peanut Butter Cups goes out to my beta readers. Beta readers make the story betta!

  Thanks, Carla :-)

  About the Author

Carla Ryan, author of the popular Rainbow Heights series, loves playing matchmaker for her characters, and wishes she could invite them all over in real life for peanut butter brownies and a Buffy the Vampire Slayer marathon. When she’s not writing, she’s most likely been ordered by her FitBit to get out from behind her computer, and is running laps around her living room so she can get back to writing.
