Quin called a meeting of the Council the following morning. So many things happened in the last twenty four hours, a meeting was necessary. Bryan and Adele were formally stepping down from the head of their Pack and combining it with the Denver Pack. The town voted the previous night while they had all still been at the hospital.
Sid spent the previous night on the phone with his brothers, telling them of the change of plans. Quin had bought several blocks in Denver which they had been converting into apartment buildings for the Pack. The buildings were being changed to office space and business head quarters. Quin and Jaden both felt that when they told the Denver Pack about Milliken, most of the families would want to move out here. The single wolves would still like the draw of the city, which was why they were going remodel the existing apartment buildings. The extra space will be turned into a Community Park, and space for new businesses. Like Quin said, Milliken was only thirty minutes away; a lot of the working members would not mind the commute. It is what they had dreamed of, an open space to live plus a thriving community to work in.
The biggest news of the Pack was of course, Cami"s change. She finally woke up last night, demanding to see her babies before even waking fully. Quin and Jaden, proudly showed her the boys and then surprised her with her other small bundle of joy. Cami cried when she took her little girl in her arms and kissed her little head. Of course, she freaked a little when her little baby began to glow.
Cami, Quin and Jaden had named their children last night. They named the boys, Stephan and Marcus. They named their daughter Hope. So far, no one had breached the subject of the tattoos and the Enforcers response to her.
“Ok, so where do we stand?” Quin said his friends and Council sitting before him.
Bryan and Adele helped Cami with the babies across the hall. Cloe had been surprised when her father said he looked forward to changing diapers again.
Sid offered an update on the building plans. He laid out the picture he drew last light for the compound he wanted to build. It had one large Pack house, and then thirteen houses on the back part of the property, one for each of the Council members. Milliken had plenty of room to grow so; new Pack members could build or buy a house. It was an awesome plan.
All the Council members listened intently, but the main reason for the meeting had still not been brought up. Cloe shifted in her chair, a little anxious about the way the Council was avoiding the obvious. She knew they were talking about the Alphas" baby girl, but something important had happened, they needed to talk about it.
Devon spoke up next about the search for the other Chosen. “We have a line on a few of the others, but so far we have not been able to move around. Quin, Jaden, and I have decided that Milliken is the best place for the Pack to be right now. We have a better chance keeping everyone happy. Also, the Rogues do not know much about this place, and so our security will know more than they do. We are not bringing up the Old Council; they can stay in the apartments in Denver for now. Quin is going to tell them that until we have the appropriate level of security; it would not be safe for them to be here.”
Jaden stood up and began to pace. “Listen, I trust all of you with my life and the life of my family. But we need to be clear. No one and I mean no one but the Enforcers and the people in this room know what happened with my daughter yesterday, and I want it to stay that way. We are all still trying to figure this out. I notified the Pack late last night that we were moving to Milliken. They were encouraged to do the same. Bryan and I spoke to this Pack and we are all on the same page. I would expect to see people arriving in the next few hours to scout out the town and property. ” Casey spoke up. “I have looked at the finances of the Pack and the Old Council. We will have no problem getting this done, our finances are strong. I would suggest however that we spend a little more money on construction to get the Pack house done and at least ours started soon.” Quin and Jaden nodded and they voted to hire local construction to help.
Jo talked about the feelings of the Pack. She said that so far everyone seemed excited about the new things happening. Ruby"s parents were very upset and concerned that they had not found her yet. Levi, Reggie and Ruby"s mate and Pack Enforcer, searched day and night for his mates. He still felt guilty for not claiming Ruby. Tey said he was going to talk with him soon. Jo kept feeling Reggie and Ruby in brief intervals. It was as if they were drugged and when it was wearing off she could feel them, until of course the Rogues drugged them again and then they would go back to sleep. Jo said she was still trying, but she knew they were still in Denver, she just could not pin point it.
Cloe looked around the table. She knew that she was the newest member to the Council and probably the most reluctant. Darien and Teagan both encouraged her to keep an open mind where this was all concerned. She agreed that her father had backed her into the corner; she would deal with him later. For now, she concentrated on her job, and what she needed to do, as the newest member of the Council. She was the Medical overseer and so far, Cloe did not have a clue what that meant. She wanted someone to lay it all out for her. Then they could discuss something that was still bothering her.
“I have no clue, what the hell I am supposed to tell you. Doc called last night and I spoke with him briefly. He will be coming up today to see my practice. I think he will take my office. There is a lot of training that he needs, since we have all different kinds of shifters here. I think I am going to set up a laboratory in the vacant building just on the out skirts of town. We have a lot of things to learn about shifters.” Cloe let out a deep breath and said, “There was something else we need to discuss. I am sure that you have all seen the tattoos.” She paused and watched, as they all nodded their heads, agreeing with her. Quin and Jaden looked at her cautiously.
“Hope is special. I don"t know how yet, but she is.” Quin said.
“I think we realize that. My tattoo was tingling all last night. All the Enforcers said the same thing. When I asked them why they came into the room, they said they felt like they were compelled to.” Teagan said rubbing his shoulder absently.
“What about that Blaine guy?” Jaden said frowning.
After Blaine came into the room and announced that Hope was the Alphas" gift, he disappeared. Cloe was used to her friend"s quirky behavior but he never had done anything like this before. She called him for hours last night, hoping that he would pick up and explain what the hell was going on.
“He has been with this Pack almost as long as I have. I grew up with him. He is also one of the best Enforcers that I have ever seen. He seems to know what is going to happen before it does.” Teagan said.
“Blaine was raised by a family of bears. I remember my father saying that he was abandoned as a pup. Shirley and Frank raised him with their cubs.” Cloe said and looked around the table. “He is the reason that we have the tattoo in the first place.
About three years ago, Blaine had a dream. He called me in the middle of the night a little freaked out, said he saw the Pack under attack. Took me hours to get him calmed down enough to explain what he saw. You see, even when he was younger, Blaine would have these visions type things. He would tell us and we would listen. He saved a lot of people over the years. You know, with silly things. Like calling Sue the diner owner, telling her the gas was leaking at the restaurant, and not to go in until she called for someone to come and repair it. And one of the teens in town was going to a concert in Denver one night. Blaine called her parents to tell her that she needed to take another route home because she would be in an accident. Of course, he was right; there was a twenty car pileup on the road that night because of a freak ice storm. What I am trying to say is that Blaine is always right. When he told us about his dream, we knew that someday it would occur. I thought it was the other night, but I think I am wrong. I think there is a lot more to come and none of us are prepared.”
“You are right. But before we do anything else, we need to get to Denver. Reggie and Ruby are going to be moved in the next five days and we need to be
there.” Blaine said walking through the door.
