EMPTY SECRETS (A Back Down Devil MC Novella) Page 5

by Casey, London

Of course, there was more locked in Lena’s mind. Including the uncontrollable urge that had attacked her when she opened her eyes the first time and saw someone as rough and sexy as Jett hovering over her.

  Jett.

  What a fucking name.

  What a fucking cock, too.

She couldn’t remember the last time her body had been so engaged like that. The way he slowly and carefully stripped her of her bloody shirt. The way he gently touched her, fighting his own urges. And then when he finally did let go, he ravaged her in a way that left Lena feeling alive. Really alive. Finally, for once.

But that was all last night.

Now she had to fake this to get out of it. There was no way anyone could know who she was, or that she was affiliated with Victor and all his mob ties. It wasn’t fair to Back Down Devil MC. And if the stab wound did kill Victor, the target on Lena’s back was a mile wide. And that included anyone near her.

Which put into place the plan for the day… to get the fuck out of here.

The first biker she saw was a guy named Blaine. He was a dickhead. A complete ass that looked up her shirt. Literally lifted the shirt and looked at her naked body. She had to playfully stir and wake up. Her first instinct was to lie, and she confessed to Blaine she had no idea who she was. He bought it, but only because his eyes were wondering what the rest of her naked body looked like and tasted like.

  Then came Jett.

Seeing him had the same effect on her body as it did last night. Now that was a hard thing to fight off, especially moving her shoulder when he touched her. She played dumb with the mug of coffee, sniffing it as though it were some foreign liquid.

Lena scrambled trying to figure out how to make it all seem real. Did people with amnesia remember food? Remember how to breathe? Remember how to blink? What did they think about?

So she stared straight ahead and heard Jett and Blaine talking at the door.

In the back of her mind - since she could remember everything about her life - she tried to figure out an escape plan. Truth was, she didn’t remember anything from getting hit by the big guy with Victor until she started to regain feeling as Jett took her shirt off. Which meant she didn’t know how the clubhouse was set up. One story? Two stories? Halls? And when she did get out… where would she go and how would she find some kind of safety.

Well, there was no such thing as safety. Lena knew that by now. Her original plan had been to stab Victor and then make a run for it. But before she stabbed Victor he had taken her car and left her basically stranded. Jett solved the stranded issue, but he didn’t need the violence Victor would bring.

“Just get the fuck out,” Jett said. He slammed the door shut.

Lena swallowed and turned her head. “What’s going on?”

“You tell me. What the fuck is going on with you?”

  “I don’t know… you’re Jett, right?”

  “You don’t know…”

Lena shook her head. “I don’t remember anything. Who am I?”

“Lena,” Jett said. “Your name is Lena. You woke up last night. We…”

We fucked. Yeah, I remember that. Fuck, I remember it, Jett.

  “We what? What happened?”

Jett stared at her. Lena tried to keep minimal eye contact, afraid she was going to give her lie away. She knew the punishment of that, too. There had been plenty of times she got wrapped up in a lie and it never ended well.

“Okay, I’ll play,” Jett said. He reached down and opened a shirt. “This was what you were wearing. See it? See the blood?”

“Yeah,” Lena said. “Was I hurt?”

  “Do you feel hurt?”

  “I don’t know what I feel. I’m confused.”

Jett sighed. “Fucking Christ. You were passed out on my motorcycle.”

“You have a motorcycle?” Lena asked.

Shit, am I supposed to know what a motorcycle is? Or is that going too far?

“Yes,” Jett said. “I brought you back here because of the blood. But you weren’t hurt. It’s not your blood, beautiful. You’re fine. Well, at least, you know, no visible wounds.” Jett slowly turned and sat on the edge of the bed. “I had to take the shirt off you. Just to check. I was being respectful. Then you woke up and… we got heated up.”

“What does that mean?” Lena asked.

“We fucked,” Jett said. “Okay? You knew who you were. You knew me. Things started and didn’t stop.” Jett reached out and touched Lena’s cheek. “And you don’t remember a thing now.”

“I should just go then,” Lena said. “I don’t want to cause you any trouble, Jett.”

“Where the fuck are you going to go? You don’t remember a thing.”

  Fuck.

Lena realized the corner she had put herself into. She scrambled to save the lie and save herself.

“Maybe if I go outside, I’ll remember something.”

“You think that’ll help?” Jett asked.

  “I don’t know. I don’t know anything. I’m… scared…”

That was the first truthful thing Lena had spoken since she woke up. She was scared. She was simply terrified. There was no way in hell Victor or his guys weren’t somewhere close by. Time was her greatest enemy right now and it was wasting.

“Okay, beautiful, don’t be scared,” Jett said. “You’re safe here. You’re safe with me. I promise.”

He put a hand to Lena’s leg and she jumped a little. Jett quickly took his hand away and stood from the bed.

He showed his hands and said, “It’s okay. I won’t touch you. Just let me know what I can do here. I’m in a mess myself with this situation, Lena. If you think going outside could help, then let’s go for a walk.”

“I’m naked under this shirt,” she said. “I’m not going outside like this.”

“Then get dressed,” Jett said. “Keep the shirt. I’m sure you don’t want to be walking around in a bloody shirt. Unless you think it’ll help you remember something.”

Lena pushed herself up more on the bed. She watched as Jett tossed her jeans - and panties - to the bed. She vividly remembered his hands sliding along her hips, fingers tightening around her panties and jeans, forcing them down her body. The way he touched her. The way he tasted her.

She couldn’t do this to Jett though. Even though Victor told her many times that the motorcycle club in Frelen was nothing more than a joke, she just didn’t want to pull him into anything. It wasn’t his problem or fault.

Lena grabbed her panties and turned sideways on the bed, her feet touching the floor. She stepped into her panties and then stood up.

  “Can I ask you something?”

  “Shoot,” Jett said.

Lena pulled her panties up. She was already uncomfortable. Her panties clung to her body, thanks to Jett. Just seeing him made her warm. The slightest touch left her achy and wet.

She looked over her shoulder. “You don’t know me?”

  “No,” Jett said.

“Why did you help me? Why not leave me where you found me?”

“That’s a good fucking question,” Jett said. “I’m rethinking that part of it all right now. There were police on the way. I saw blood. You… just something about you. I got you here and figured I’d get some information from you. This morning.”

  “Sorry,” Lena whispered.

She put her jeans on and then waited for Jett to take the lead.

When he moved by her, Lena shot her hand out and grabbed at his wrist. She pulled at Jett. He spun and was an inch from her.

Tell him the truth. Right now. Don’t fuck around with it…

  “What?” Jett asked.

  “Thank you. For helping me.”

“Beautiful, you don’t know who I am. I’m a bad guy. I just hope whoever hurt you is worse than me.”

  “Someone hurt me?”

“You were knocked out. You weren’t drunk. You don’t remember a thing. Makes sense to me. Let’s see if something can jar your memory.”

Jett turned his hand and grabbed Lena by her hand. He guided the way from the bedroom to a hallway.

“Down there is the main part,” Jett said. “We’re avoiding that.”

  “Why?” Lena asked.

Jett looked right at her. “You’re not exactly welcome here, beautiful. Sorry to be honest. We have a lot of shit going on around here. In the middle of something like a war. Just sneak out through the back way with me, okay?”

Lena nodded and took mental notes. She felt like a real bitch right now, using Jett to find a way out of the clubhouse. But she had no choice. She needed to escape. She needed… to get help…

“What about the police?” Lena asked.

Jett kept walking and didn’t respond until he opened the back door, letting sunlight flood them.

They were outside and Lena took a deep breath.

  “Jett?” she asked.

“Police?” Jett asked. “That’s what you want?”

“I’m not welcome here,” Lena said. “I don’t want anymore trouble. So just take me there. They can help me. With… things…”

Jett stared at her. His eyes were so intense. So deep and dark. So beautiful.

“Yeah, maybe I’ll do that,” Jett said.

He then started to walk again. This time he didn’t hold Lena’s hand. They walked along the side of the building. Lena took all her surroundings in. She wondered if she shouldn’t just make a run for it right now. If she just started to go… keep her legs moving… pumping…

Lena saw the front of the building and the compound, and her idea was suddenly shattered. There were motorcycles everywhere. A few guys were standing around. To the gates it looked like ten more miles. Lena knew if she tried running Jett would catch her in seconds. If he would catch her. She looked at him, noting the look on his face. Lena hated herself for what had happened… the sex was so good and now she was pretending it never happened.

  “Getting anything?” Jett asked.

  “No,” Lena lied. “Nothing yet.”

“Come over here for a second,” Jett said.

They walked to a railing. There was a ramp next to the railing that went down to a large garage door. The place was a big compound of vehicles, and part,s and supplies. Lena knew that must have been the cover for the MC.

She touched the railing and stared out.

“You don’t seem so confused right now,” Jett said.

Lena gasped and turned her head. “I don’t know what to feel. I don’t understand…”

“Nothing’s coming back, huh?” Jett asked.

“Nothing. Maybe you should call the police. Let them come get me.”

“What do I tell them? That I found you in a bloody shirt? That I didn’t call them right away? That you woke up, knew your name, knew my name, begged me to fuck you, then fell back asleep? Oh, then you woke up this morning and can’t remember a thing?”

Lena swallowed. “I don’t know. They can help.”

“What can they do? Ask you a million questions. So I can do that. What do you remember? Anything. Something. A snippet of anything…”

  Lena’s bottom lip quivered.

I remember everything. Don’t fucking get on me, Jett. Don’t fucking hurt me… everyone always hurts me.

  “It’s all blank,” Lena said.

  “Yeah…”

Lena looked forward again. She was going to give it another few seconds then ask to go back inside. Then she could find a way for Jett to leave the bedroom long enough for her to make her escape. She knew the way out. And if she couldn’t walk right out of the gates, there were other ways.

Before she could say something else, she felt something press against her. Not something, but someone. She looked back and saw Jett towering over her.

Their eyes met and Lena opened her mouth, but had no breath. Jett had stolen her breath, again. She was left quivering, wondering what the hell was happening.

“Do you have feeling in your right leg?” he whispered as he stared down at her.

  “Yeah… why?”

“Then why haven’t you blasted me in the nuts yet?”

  “What?”

“Some guy presses himself against you and you don’t kick him away. Why not?”

“I… you… you’re not going to hurt me.”

“How do you know? Do you remember something?”

Lena was trapped. Completely busted. She told herself to swing her right leg and hit Jett in the balls. Get him off her. Push him away. Scream. Yes. Scream. Scream loud. Jett was against her. Lena wasn’t supposed to know who he was. She wasn’t supposed to…

  “Maybe something from last night…”

“Christ, beautiful, you’re lying to me,” Jett said. He pushed at the railing and broke away from Lena.

  She felt lonely, cold.

“You’re fucking lying,” Jett growled. “You remember everything. You remember what happened. You remember me fucking you. You’re playing a game, Lena. I don’t play fucking games. That’s how people lose their lives around here.”

“Are you threatening me?” Lena asked.

“I’m warning you. Right now. One chance…”

Lena wasn’t sure what to think in that moment. The rage on Jett’s face was very real. Real enough that she thought about Victor. That’s how he would get. Except Victor would attack first and ask questions later. Jett seemed to be the same type, but not around her. He held back just enough for her.

  “Lena…”

“Fuck,” Lena whispered. “Fuck, fuck, fuck…”

Jett closed in on her again. He put his hands to the railing and stood there. He looked down at her. His eyes were on fire but had a hint of sympathy.

“I remember everything,” she whispered. “Okay? Everything. From the time I could remember up until… whatever…”

  “So the blood…”

  “I know whose it is.”

  “Husband?” Jett asked.

  “No.”

  “Boyfriend?”

  “Sort of.”

“We better go back inside and start talking.”

  seven.

Jett sat on the end of the bed and rested his elbows on his legs. He watched a beautiful woman pacing back and forth, divulging some deep secrets, looking more and more scared by the second. She played with her hands. She played with her hair. Sometimes she stood with her back to Jett.

  But it was pretty simple.

She stabbed her boyfriend, Victor, who was some connected guy with ties that ran down through California into Mexico and right back up into Vegas. None of it was a big shock to Jett. He knew how families worked. Fuck, he had been born into one and suffered through the murder of his mother by his father. All part of the family though.

“You stabbed him,” Jett said when Lena took a breath.

She turned and faced Jett. “Yeah.”

  “That’s fucking crazy.”

“I had a plan though. To do it and run. But he was always a step ahead…”

  “You still got him though.”

“I stabbed him while trying to get away from him and one of his guys. I stabbed Victor and then the guy hit me.”

Jett felt his heart twist and burn. “Some guy hit you?”

“Yeah. That’s what knocked me out.”

“Someone fucking hit you. And then just threw you over my ride.”

“Yeah. Sorry I’m not something better.”

Jett sighed and rubbed his chin. Miller wanted this chick gone. Hell, under any normal circumstance, Lena would have been long gone by now. Especially since the memory thing was a complete fucking joke. A total lie.

“So what do I do now?” Jett asked.

“Let me go then,” Lena said. “Let me just… figure it out. Without any heat on you.”

“Throw you out there?” Jett asked. “Right into danger? This guy will kill you. Unless you’ve already killed him. If you did, he’ll have guys coming for you. Fuck, beautiful, I’m…”

  “Then why?” Len
a asked. “Just tell me why. What are you thinking right now?”

Jett reached forward and grabbed the top of Lena’s jeans and pulled. “I’m thinking about last night. And I want more of that. Then we can figure out a plan together. Because if you go and get caught…”

  “What?”

Jett swallowed. “How do I know you won’t bring heat on the MC? Your boyfriend wants to come after us already, right? Face it, beautiful, we could maybe use you right here. Have you fuck with him for our benefit.”

  “And, what, hold me hostage?”

“Whatever it takes. You think some guys in suits are bad? You think some guys paid to kill people are bad? You don’t know what you’ve stumbled across with Back Down Devil MC. Nobody fucks with us. Not with the war brewing outside right now.”

Jett liked having this kind of power. More so, he liked his hand holding Lena’s jeans. He wanted to fuck her again. He wanted everything again. So he decided to just fucking take it.

His hands slid up the shirt Lena wore. The shirt was Jett’s, but it looked better on Lena. She didn’t stop him as his hands moved over her breasts. Her bare and beautiful breasts. The stiffness of her nipples to his touch. Her face started to flush and she swallowed hard, trying to control her breathing.

“Let go,” Jett said. “Right now.”

“Or what? You going to hurt me?”

Jett shook his head. “Is that what you’re used to? Always getting hurt? You’re not going to get hurt here with me. But that doesn’t mean shit, when hell is waiting to crash through the door. All we have are seconds. That’s what I look at. Right now, the seconds are wasting.”

“Because I’m not fucking you?” Lena asked.

Jett slid his hands from Lena’s breasts to her back. “Then what you want me to do? Take you out on a date? Ask your mother for permission to kiss you?”

Lena leaned into Jett and put her knees on the bed. “No. Make me feel alive again, Jett. Just like last night…”

Jett hurried his hands down to Lena’s jeans and opened them.

Make me feel alive again… fucking right, beautiful. You’re going to make me feel again, too.

Keeping to his word, Jett tore Lena’s jeans and panties down, not wasting anymore time. She kicked out of her pants and panties, but the long, black t-shirt covered everything up. It was extremely seductive. But as Jett started to touch her legs, his fingertips aching to feel the silky smoothness of her sex, Lena swatted his hands away.
