Dearest Cowboys Box Set Page 27

Sponsorship was everything to me. The more money that I had to work with, the better I could become. The less I would have to worry about everything else. Plus, it was evidence that people believed in me. That belief would be incredible for me since I’d spent such a long time with not a single soul believing in me.

I put my head down and carried on walking, wondering if I should just go back to the hotel if I was done with my interviews. If I wasn’t going to get any trouble, then was there any point in being out?

“Oh look, the mechanical bull!” some jack ass yelled as he saw the pussy’s version of what I did for a living. I hated those robot beasts making people think that they could be a bit of me. It made me want to beat all their asses down to prove to them how truly idiotic they were. How little idea they really had. The real thing was more about bonding with the animal and learning all about him rather than fighting it and clinging to the beast for dear life. It sure as shit wasn’t something that you would do after necking a few beers. You wouldn’t just fall off, you’d die.

I was just about to open my mouth, to start yelling some insults after the two strangers about how they wanted to try the real thing rather than pissing about and making drunken fools of themselves, when something stopped me. I froze, silenced, and tried to wrap my head around the person who had taken all the words from my mouth.

Woah… who the hell is that? I stopped dead in my tracks as I spotted a sight that stunned me to the core. A woman so beautiful she actually took my breath away. With her long sleek blonde hair and piercing blue eyes, plus a smile that lit the whole damn place up. Cheek bones higher than I’d ever seen before and a body so rocking that even in the plan white tee shirt and boring blue jeans, she absolutely blew me away. I actually salivated at the sight of her, wanting to grab her and toss her down on the bed to just ravish her. I would taste every damn inch of her if I could.

Behave… I warned myself. Remember Jeff’s words… remember the sponsorship deals and the money…

But all of that simply paled in to insignificance in the sight of this pure beauty. She was something else, truly, and she made my heart skip about ten beats. That didn’t happen much, ever really, which only highlighted how much I needed her. It took every bit of will power with in me to remain where I was to just watch her for a while. To see her.

I leaned against the near by fence with my arms folded across me, enjoying her up turned lips and the friendly way that she seemed to interact with everyone. That was Southern charm at it’s best. The sort of belle that I could really get on board with. Sure, she was a lot purer looking than the girls I usually liked, a bit too ‘good girl’ for me to be this intrigued by her… but then again, she was clearly a model which meant she had some hidden secrets in there. A wild side to her that she didn’t show when she was in professional mode. I liked that. When a woman was a surprise and a secret freak. It always made the sexual thrill that much more exciting.

I bit down on my bottom lip as I imagined that sweet little mouth of hers wrapped around my cock. She had plump naturally red lips, perfect visually for a blow job. And when it looked good, I always blew my load hard. My cock stood to attention the more I watched her. I wanted her and I wasn’t sure that I could walk away now. The hotel room held absolutely no appeal for me without her in it. No other woman would do either. It had to be her.

  Emily (slightly later that evening)

I wiped the sweat from my forehead and checked out my slightly dirty reflection in the mirror. My skin had the dusty appearance to match the environment, which wasn’t usually how I modeled, but then I wasn’t usually this happy either while at work. It sure as hell beat having orders barked at me from Dan.

No, this was familiar, it was more like home. The people that I spoke to here were like my people. I understood them. I got them which meant we had an instant bond. I was knackered but having a good laugh.

I did love the big city. LA, New York, and Chicago had been good to me, but this would always be more like home. I guess a part of me always assumed that I would end up back living the rural life eventually. I hadn’t been to a rodeo in a very long time and I hadn’t realized quite how much I missed it until now.

“Right,” I muttered to my reflection. “Time to get back out there. Not much longer now.”

I sighed deeply and stepped in to the fresh breeze, closing my eyes for a second to inhale the rodeo scents. Not what some people would like, I was sure, but to me it was everything. I loved it here.

“Hey, it’s you!” an obnoxiously loud, clearly drunken voice called out to me. “The bull girl.”

I put back on my much too bright smile, knowing that I had to be polite whatever the case. “Why yes, it’s me.”

“You’re the hottest one you know?” He staggered towards me, his muscles so large they almost weighed him to the floor. He was strong, but the alcohol made him pathetic. He was out of control, which was why I didn’t like to drink much. I didn’t like the sense of being out of control. “Me and my friends said that right away.”

Urgh, gross. But I couldn’t acknowledge that. “Oh why, thank you. That’s very kind of you.”

The nearer he got, the more uncomfortable I felt, so I tried to weave around him, but however drunk he was, he wasn’t stupid. He stepped in the way and used his giant mass to stop me from going anywhere.

“I need to go to work.” The terror was starting to become evident in my voice. “My boss is looking for me.”

“Oh, I don’t think that he is.” His lips curled up in to a nasty looking smirk. “See, I’ve just seen your boss and he’s surrounded by so many other Buckle Bunnies that he won’t even notice you gone.”

“Buckle Bunnies?” What did that mean? That wasn’t a term I’d heard before.

“You know, rodeo sluts. The models and promo girls who work here to get a piece of the action.”

My nose screwed up in disgust. “The girls are here to work, not looking for a man. How sexist are you?”

Instead of being insulted, he laughed like this was a hilarious idea. “Sexiest, pfft. Whatever you say, little lady.” As I tried to escape once more, he gripped on to my arm and held it tight. “Now, are you coming with me then?”

“No, thank you. I need to get back to work.” I tried to snatch away but he was too strong for me. “I would appreciate it if you let me go because I don’t want to be stuck here any longer.”

“Stuck her? You should be so lucky, love. I don’t think you’re stuck. You are privileged to be here.”

As I tried to tug away once more, he pulled even harder with a smile on his face. This was a game to him. He was the cat and I the mouse. I didn’t stand a chance in hell of getting away from him. He knew it. Right now, he had me.

“Please leave me alone.” I sounded timid, afraid. “Please, I just want to get back to work.”

“No way! You’re with me now. I’m taking you back to my hotel.”

Anger circled through me, it was an intense rage so powerful it shook off the fear. “Leave me alone,” I growled.

“Ooh, trying to be a tough nut now, are we? That’s exciting. I like that.”

As I tried to fight him off, he angled me against the wall and pressed against me. I snapped my head to one side, trying to see anything, feel anything other than the massive weight of him against me. It didn’t matter how much air I tried to gulp in, it wasn’t enough. I didn’t have enough oxygen, never mind the energy to fight.

“Hey, what the fuck?” another strange voice yelled. “What the hell do you think you’re playing at?”

I could instantly tell that this vice was on my side. It was someone who could see this giant man pressing himself against me and he didn’t agree with it at all. Relief flooded me which made me slump a little. I was going to be okay.

“Get out of here, buddy,” the drunken asshole replied. “You have no idea what’s going on here.”

“The hell I don’t! You have a woman pressed against t
he wall against her will.”

“She’s just fine, you get the fuck out of here. She wants to be here.”

I parted my lips and tried to let out a scream but there wasn’t anything there. It was as if something had torn my voice box out. What if this stranger believed my attacker and he left? This was my one chance to survive.

“Ah, bitch!” As he yelled that out, I realized that I might not have been able to get my mouth in order, but my body had taken control for me. My knee had raised and knocked him in the balls which of course, he immediately needed to cup them to protect them. “What the fuck are you doing, you little slut?”

I swung my hand back and slapped him around the face, gasping as I did so. God that felt good. He was a prick. He deserved that and more. I screwed my fist up by my side, ready to punch him too, but I decided against it. the stranger might have given me some inner strength just by being around, but I couldn’t be stupid.

“Fuck you,” he spat out drunkenly. “Fuck you, you whore. You think you’re so beautiful so you can just get away with being a twat. Well, fuck you. How about I smack you in you stupid face?”

“You never threaten a woman.” All of a sudden, the drunken guy flung around as the stranger grabbed him. “Who the hell do you think you are? That is absolutely despicable behavior. You need to get out of here.”

“Are you kidding me? What the fuck are you going to do about it?”

“I ride huge ass bulls for a living. You think you’re any match for me?”

I couldn’t resist peering around the drunk guy to see who it was. My heart stopped beating for what felt like forever when I spotted the man attached to the voice. This was the guy that everyone had been getting excited about all day long. The Sexy Rider, the girls were calling him, and he was the one who won the rodeo today. I couldn’t believe that he was here, protecting me. This was crazy. I didn’t know what to think about it.

He sure is sexy, my brain unhelpfully piped up. No wonder everyone is obsessed with him.

“You will leave the pretty lady alone, or I will make you regret it. You hear me?”

The drunken guy span and grabbed me, trying to yank me towards him as some sort of body armor, but I wasn’t having it. I ducked down so he missed me and tumbled, almost hitting the ground hard

“Fuck you.” The bull rider yelled as he lurched at him. He slammed his fist down hard and smacked him in the face. I gasped and clapped my hands to my mouth in shock as he took him out for ease. The rider wasn’t as big as the drunken fool, but that didn’t matter. It seemed that he had enough strength to counter act anything.

“Is there a fight?” a guy in security uniform yelled as he span around the corner. “We’ve had reports…”

His face furrowed in anger as he spotted what was going on. Instantly, he grabbed the bull rider and he started making threats about throwing him out of the rodeo for his behavior. I couldn’t let that happen, he would have his win stripped away from him, and he hadn’t even done anything wrong. He’d only protected me.

“Wait, wait, wait!” I cried out while chasing after the security guy. “It wasn’t him, the other guy was threatening me. He had me pinned against the wall and he was intimidating me. This man saved me.”

“Alex Fancy saved you?” The security guard cocked a disbelieving eyebrow at me.

“Yes, he did! He stopped the guy from taking me, which was what he wanted to do.”

“Like a kidnap thing? The guy was trying to kidnap you?”

“I don’t know.” I shrugged helplessly. “Basically, yes. I don’t know what would have happened if Alex hadn’t intervened.” I touched Alex’s arm gently, showing my support. “He saved me. I would have been a mess…”

“Right fine.” The security guard nodded slowly and eventually let Alex go. “So, the other guy was the trouble?”

“Yes.” I nodded enthusiastically, relieved. “He was and you need to get rid of hm before he does it again.”

Once we were left, I pulled Alex to one side to try and keep him away from the trouble. I couldn’t stand the idea of him getting in any shit. But I might have pulled him a bit too hard because he ended up crashed against me.

“Oops, sorry.” The blush crept through my entire body. “I didn’t mean to…”

“Thank you for what you did for me there,” he interjected. “I would have lost everything otherwise.”

“No, thank you. You’re the one who saved me after all. I don’t know what would have happened otherwise.”

A shuddered at the idea, I couldn’t stand it. That was some serious trouble there. Now that he was gone, I could admit was I was most scared of… losing my virginity without my permission to do so.

Without thinking any more of it, I held Alex’s shoulder and rose up on to my tip toes to kiss his cheek. I wanted to thank him in every way possible for saving me, allowing me to remain who I was. He was my hero.

“You know, I’m still in town tomorrow…” he said with an edge to his voice. “If you really want to thank me, then why not let me take you out to dinner? If you’re still here that is.”

“Shouldn’t I be the one taking you out to dinner?” I laughed back.

“Nah. No way.” He shook his head hard, almost looking offended by the suggestion that I buy anything for him. “I don’t know what you’ve heard about me, but I never let a woman pay.”

“I haven’t heard anything about you, so I wouldn’t make any judgments.”

“You haven’t?” He cocked an eyebrow. “You don’t know about the bad boy of bull riding then?”

The words ‘bad boy’ reminded me of what Rebecca wanted. She needed me to be seen out on a date with someone with an edge. This would be killing two birds with one stone… in the best way possible. I also considered Ruby’s words about spending a steamy night with a sexy cowboy… but only for a moment before I shoved it away quickly. I could not think about that right now. It was too much.

“I guess I will find out more about you over dinner then.” I smiled. “I’m looking forward to it already.”

  Alex (next evening)

“Wow.” I was impressed and I wasn’t afraid to let her show it. “Damn girl, you look fine.”

In the figure hugging red dress, I could see far more of her body that she showed at the rodeo, and I had to admit that I was impressed. She was like a sculpture that an artist had created to show perfection. Every dip, every peak, her hips, her waist, her gorgeous cleavage, her legs that went on for days… she just kept getting better.

“Thank you.” She blushed, looking adorable as she did. “You don’t look too bad yourself.”

In my smartest jeans and shirt, I didn’t feel quite good enough for her. Maybe for once I should have left my cowboy hat at home, but it was a part of my identity now. I couldn’t come out without it.

“Well, are you ready to go?” I held out my arm for her to link through it. “The table is booked.”

“Where are we going?” she asked with a gorgeous little lilt to her voice.

“The Hayburn.” It wasn’t typically my sort of place, it was a little posh for my tastes, but I wanted to book somewhere to impress Emily. She seemed to me like the sort of girl deserved it. “You been there before?”

“I haven’t been anywhere in Cheyenne. I’ve just been getting take out with the other models… well, the one’s that eat anyway. Some of them refuse to eat anything other than celery which just isn’t healthy.”

I’d been out with models before, but never one who seemed as refreshingly honest as Emily. There was something different about her. Something that that really intrigued me. I couldn’t wait to get to know her more.

“Well, I’m glad that I’m taking you somewhere for a new experience… is all of this different for you?”

“Not so much.” She smiled at me, almost dazzling me away. “I’m from the South. From a small town in Texas.”

“You are?” I drawled back. “I can’t really tell from your a
ccent.”

“I’ve tried to tone it down a bit since I moved to the city. It’s easier not to stand out for something like that in New York. As I’m sure you can imagine, the modeling world is a whole lot of joy in that department.”

“So, New York… that’s where you live right now, is it?” I couldn’t imagine her there, she didn’t seem the type.

“I have a place in New York, but I’m so often in Chicago and LA, I don’t know where I am most of the time.”

I laughed and nodded knowing that was a bit how I was going to feel for the next six months. Being here, there, and everywhere, rather than at home with my feet planted firmly on the ground.

As we entered the restaurant, I acted like far more of a gentleman than I normally would. I opened the door for Emily and pulled out her chair as we got to the table. After the bullshit that she had to put up with the night before, I didn’t see my usual cock sure attitude helping her at all. She needed to be treated nicely.

“So, if you live in the big city now…” I started before we even looked at the menu. “I guess you haven’t been keeping up with the bull riding scene. That would be why you didn’t seem to immediately recognize me.”

That might have sounded cockier than I intended, but she didn’t seem to mind.

“I know a little about you, but no, probably not as much as I would have done if I was still in Texas.”

“You liked the bulls then?” I shot her a playful wink. “When you were loving the rural life?”

“Actually, I have always preferred barrel racing. I like it when it’s more cooperation with the animal than competition.” She shrugged and smiled as she basically trashed my sport. “It’s nicer to watch.”

“Nicer, pfft,” I scoffed, enjoying the back and forth. “Sport isn’t about niceness.”

“No? Is that why you’re also known as the king of trash talk?” I rolled my eyes at that nickname. “Even though it’s pointless because the animals can’t hear the insults no matter what you say at them.”
